Car Overview

Welcome to the second season of the Themed Car Challenge! In this Season you have to participate from the beginning on - competing with the same Car Model and Engine Family from Round 1 till the end. If you want to enter in Round 2 to 4? Well… I have built two cars for you in that case, you can change the appearance of those, but have to keep the base engine and base car model. This little twist will show which platform yields the best compromise overall or will show the most flexible car builders of the forums.

In the first round you will have to build a…

1995 Midsized Executive Car

The year is 1995, the earth travels around the sun in an elliptical orbit, Microsoft launches Windows 95 and Micheal Schuhmacher won the Formula 1 Championship of 1995.
Whats going on in the car industry? Audis A4 2.4 is one year old already and competing with the current Mercedes C230 - and reach well sales all over the planet. The Volvo S70 and new Lexus ES still wait for release - which is the best time for YOUR car company to enter the market for mid-sized executive sedans.

How to play?

Simple! Read the Guidelines at the bottom, go to this Google Docs Spreadsheet - build your car, fill in your data and send it to me. If any stat has a minimum Value or limits in the top bar, please follow them!

I recommend to post a small advertisement of the car here to appeal it to the future customers in the voting but you don’t have to do it**
**The top 3 winners will be reviewed by the Automationeer magazine! **

Have fun on this challenge!

Small note: Don’t delete your cars - they may be needed for future stuff. Like Round 2 to 4. Atleast the Car Model and Engine Family as a basis for the other possible trims.

Introduction

The goal in the Themed Car Challenges is to build an Car that is reasonable for the specific theme it is entered into.
This challenge is not about making as much power as possible or other crazy-ass Cars. The winner will be chosen by the
judges, and that is you! You decide which Car you would choose, if YOU were the CUSTOMER. Be realistic about your choices!

Submission Guidelines

[ul]]The latest public release version is used for the challenges./:m]
]One submission per user per theme. The PMed Car is your final and only theme entry./:m]
]If a patch is released during a challenge, the entry has to be (re-)submitted in the latest patch version./:m]
]After filling the spreadsheet with your Car’s data, submit your entry via PM to Pyrlix, the TEC game-master. /:m]
]You must submit the Car by the last day of building time, otherwise it counts as not submitted and is disqualified./:m]
]Scoring (Season 1): 1st place 5 points, 2nd place 4 points, 3rd place 3, 4th place 2 point/:m]
]If your Car stats in the sheet don’t correspond to the ones in the submitted Car file, this counts as cheating./:m]
]Don’t allocate 2 slots at one time. Only 1 slot at once. Finish your work before you start the next one! /:m][/ul]

Voting Guidelines

Remember that you are the customer, and you want to get the best out of a car for your money.
Vote accordingly! Some examples for what kind of questions you should be asking yourselves:

a) Is all that power actually accessible, usable and not far too dangerous?
b) Will the Comfort break your back?
c) Does it eat your wallet?

Do the voting by putting your name in the “Vote” line below each scenario. You have three votes per theme:

 1. “3MyForumID” is worth three points towards the placement.
 2. “2MyForumID” is worth two points towards the placement.
 3. “1MyForumID” is worth one point towards the placement.

If there is one or several names in that cell already, edit the cell and add your name: “2NameX, 1NameY, 2MyForumID”
with the score you want to give in front of your forum ID.
You are not allowed to vote for your own Car!

Season Format

The runtime for every challenge is one week and every season will have 4 events, i.e. a season is 4 weeks long.
There may be minor breaks in between due to holidays or unavailability of the game-master.
The competition weeks are structured the following way:

Car Submissions: From the day the challenge opened till Monday
Car Voting: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Challenge Wrap-Up and Announcement: Friday

Can the model year be earlier than 1995? I have a 1993 car that I’d like to use, and I’d send it in with a 1995 trim.

Well… the car trim/engine variant has to be 1995.

Your Model/Engine Family can be older, it will pass. But mind the 10 year body rule!

Indeed. Thanks for the quick reply!

Also mind you: You may want to make a new car anyways. The base model and engine you will participate in Round 1 with is required for all the other 3 rounds…

…Funnily enough, that’s what I ended up doing! Just a lot easier

Hmm, I may need to come up with a different design… Something more BMW 525i instead of M5.

I think i never entered the Deneb series in any competition, time to change that.

but what if it was disqualified?

2 out of 4 of my cars got DQ for missing a rule last season.
one because using a body that is too big, which means, can’t be reused
one is just because i picked the wrong body panel, which is an easy fix

Well in that case… you have to either take the pre-made cars OR read the rules and check your car twice before sending it in.

I still am confused about that rule. Can you explain a bit more?

Presenting the 1995 Bogliq Bastion Executive!!!

@pyrlix pre-made as in, i modify someone else’s car?

The car you build now for Round 1 will be the basis for Round 2 to 4. RIght now you have your Car Model, Car Trim, Engine Family and Engine Variant.
In Round 1 you are free to build your whole car… but in Round 2 to 4 you HAVE TO use the same Car Model and Engine Family you made in Round 1.

PreMade as in - you get to choose one of two platforms i made (RAM Executive and Ram Executive 2) for the future Rounds.

Behold the ultimate combination of economy, power and AWD control: The RM Cetacea 95E.

I also used the Audi body… and a dark red colour…

So much variety in designs so far

well…mine is blue
