On codecademy and I am working on javascript. I was having trouble with this one part but then wrote some stuff down and it passed me, but in the corner it says âNaNâ for some reason so I donât think itâs correct. The lesson is the D.R.Y (Donât Repeat Yourself) lesson.

@Speedemon Mmmm, are you starting to learn?
If thatâs the case you should try to learn pseudocode, algorithms and all that stuff before give a go to actually learn code, and ALWAYS start by learning C.
You can start by doing the CS50 in edx, itâs free and does a nice buildup for learning how to code. That is if youâre starting and are willing to take the proper path
OFF TOPIC:
It is a class thing so we have to do JavaScript.
False
It looks like you are tying to feed a string into a numerical variable hence the NaN not a number.
TNP likes Spaghetti.
true. the proper one anyway.
TNP knows how to code
i have never used it independently as i learned it usually integrated with cs and html. but if itâs this basic i might understand a little.
okay
var price = 5
just a variable declaration
var orangecost = function (price)
so youâre making a variable which is basically a function, which uses the variable âpriceâ in it
{
console.log(price * 5)
}
this is what the function does. right? and i assume âconsole.logâ is the command to show it on the console?
orangeCost (âthanksâ)
now this i donât understand.
1.youâre calling a variable like youâre calling a method/class/function/procedure or whatever it is in .js. is this normal in standalone js?
2.youâre feeding the string âthanksâ into the function which is for one, doesnât even accept any input other than the variable price, and it also does mathematical thus integer calculation, so it canât process the string input.
True Java and Matlab
TNP knows that there are 10 kinds of people⌠those who understand binary and those who dont

TNP thinks 2017 is going to be worse than 2016.
tralse. good for some wide but bad for others
@Speedemon
also you may want to take a look at this game?
edit: oh discourse has integration with steam stuff. that i didnât know
TNP is sleepy
