TNP knows who was born on the 25th of december and is very important and who definitely contributed more to the progress of the humanity as this man from stories, half of the world is talking about right now.
I didn’t, but I did look it up, and I didn’t know that Justin Trudeau was born on the 25/12! (Possibly not who you were referring to, there were a few other very notable names on the list).
Besides, I’m pretty sure that as far as we can tell, Jesus was not born on 25/12? I thought that was a political move by the Church several centuries ago to take over the traditionally Pagan date which is why we have this weird amalgam of worshipping pine trees etc.? And however a Roman calendar translated to a modern calendar, I’m pretty sure that Easter is the same deal, except this time we’re being directed away from a bunny egg delivery service. Basically it’s all politics.
Noooooo I got ninja’d. Nah, I’m not sleepy. I’m sick.
You can always use mouse and keyboard. It’s still a bit slower than using a wheel etc. and you definitely can’t use some cars without considerable difficulty unless you turn traction control on e.g. a LaFerrari in Nordschleife can do a hot lap in optimal conditions in the 6:30s, but using a mouse, it’d be tough to do 6:50.
TNP doesn’t really care whether it’s Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas.
Do people really get torn up about that? Whether the holiday they are wishing you is Christmas, hanukkah, or worshiping a giant chicken, they are still sharing the joy of their holiday with you, and you should be grateful that they are spreading good will, even if you don’t share the passion they have for their holiday.
Beyond that, I just don’t care enough to get mad at that.
######except it’s Merry Christmas, not Happy Christmas, and I will go to war with you over it.
TNP gave a donation to an organization this season.
I do monthly deductions to several aid organisations so true, I guess.
Plug: once my exams are over I’m going to figure out how to organise this all into the Giving What We Can pledge, which is a minimum of 10% of your gross income.
Explain yourself! (I’ve heard people insist equally that it’s Happy/Merry but never seen two people have it out in a single conversation…
And yes, some people are really getting torn up about that. Sad to say it’s been characterised as a trait of ‘overly PC lefties’ but the typical response characteristic of the ‘reactionary right’ that ‘this is a Christian country and therefore Christmas should stay Christian’ is equally daft for reasons I’ve already outlined above.
Strangely enough while some people do have it in for the relic of the Church state, other people say Happy Holidays because they can’t be bothered to differentiate between Hannukah, Christmas, Eid, Moon Festival etc. etc. so it’s all the same to me.
TNP is already into getting well smashed (if you are have one for me, last time I drank while ill I thought I was going to die).
False, I’ve never been drunk out of the crippling fear of becoming an alcoholic.
TNP thinks it’s in a way funny that christmas has shifted so much from the 25th to the 24th that now in some places supermarkets are open normally on the 25th.
Tralse, I live in a 3rd-world country, so pretty much everything is dead from 23th to 25th (I happen to live in one of the most developed areas so pretty much everything is 24/7 and on holidays we have at least a 12 hours service but outside that, there is no supermarket or service those days)
