I think it might be a stupid question but considering after Steam launch you guys will start developing tycoon part I wanted to ask . Are you guys planning (or planned) the tycoon UI? If we consider that the factories, sales system etc. are planned I think you guys should have some plans for it . Will it be someting like in Cars Incorporated (I wont link but you can check google) or something more serious, text based?
Last thing I heard and read about this, is that they will be having a 3D area of your factory which you can upgrade etc.
As for the sales and such, you could expect something like Capitalism 2, I reckon, with charts and numbers of markets and sales.
Thanks for quick response, Wizzy ! I was talking about the main screen. E.g screenshots.en.sftcdn.net/en/scr ⌠00x525.png is a pretty good one. It has a main bar at the bottom that helps you reach all the other menus such as R&D, Factory, Sales etc.
Woah, that just gave me eye-cancer! Definitely wonât look like this and will not use a design form the early 90s
That response⌠xD Iâm glad you wonât change to that type of UI!
So how is UI going to look like? I think it would be nice to know it . It shouldnt be that much important if we consider you guys made a video about factories.
Not 100% sure yet, we have a pretty solid design of how the gameplay itself works, but the UI will be an evolving and changing thing as we implement the gameplay features.
Itâll be pretty similar to the rest of the game UI of course, although weâre planning to have a âFactory plot viewâ showing your factory and allowing you to control some things from there.
Factory plot view, meaning you get like a central factory, with add-ons to build next to it, or freely build your factory site layout? Last given would be cool! Also, would it be possible to upgrade your factory and still produce cars/engines? Or would it shut down the factory for 3 days while upgrading? (pretty advanced question with so little known, just wondering)
Definitely the static one with add-ons, the building-plot thing always sounds like a neat idea but game history has shown it is a poor one (Motor City, aka Oldtimer) because the game is not Sim City! The player ought to focus on the big decisions in that part of the game, not on finicky micromanagement of building placement.
Are you guys planning to hire an artist (for things like UI, Art, Logos etc.) if youâll get money with steam sales boost?
Specific 2D art and logo stuff we contract out, as we do with a lot of car models. Andy is our artist for everything else
