Having a version of the same problem I had trying to install the open beta. I tried to update my old launcher through the “new version avaliable” launcher prompt, it downloaded the new version then closed without installing it or popping a error message, tried again and got the same result. I uninstalled the launcher and game, downloaded a new launcher setup file from the site and that installed fine. So now I have launcher build 50 and it asks to download build 1362, I say yes, it downloads the file and then does the same thing as the old launcher did and closed without installing, I launched the exe from the installer folder, it goes through the install fine, however the launcher does not detect it still and shows the game build as 0. I’ve included my DxDiag in 32 and 64 bit modes.

After you have installed Automation, so done the download and install of B1362, and it still claims it is build 0.
Can you right click on the Automation shortcut go to properties, click on Open File location and take a screen shot of that folder please.
Here is the shortcut properties with full file paths a picture of the target folder and the folder location of the game files I know of. The game worked in b1323 I was able to install and play that with no problem but every update since has had this problem, I can go back and install b1323 now and it still runs fine.
Huh, that’s weird, it’s targeted the My Documents folder. If it is though, how are you accessing the launcher? Does that shortcut work when you double click it?
I’m not an expert by any means, but have you tried to install the launcher/game in, for instance, C:\Games\Automation? Installing it under a specific userdata folder may cause problems.
That was the default path. I’ll try to install tonight when I’m home again.
Changing the install directory did not work, still having the same issue.
Win XP x64?.., not the best choice (for games).
Have you tried changing the compatibility mode (exe properties)
Well I mean it loads the launcher fine, and it was fine with the last public release.
So anymore options here? Or shall I consider this my reason to upgrade past windows xp, as thats the only thing I’ve been able to think of as the problem.
When you uninstalled, did you run that cleaner tool or whatever it was? If not… try it? Also, try installing an older version, then letting the launcher try to update from that?
The cleaner tool doesn’t work for me. I push the “clean” button and nothing happens, also I tried letting it update first, it failed to install the game though the launcher.
When you uninstalled automation, did you also delete your Documents/Automation folder? e.g the one with all the platforms etc…?
Hmm, I didn’t try that again as it didn’t work for the open beta. I guess I’ll see tomorrow night, it’s worth a shot at least.
Nope deleting the folders didn’t help… oh well. any other ideas or shall I just go order windows 8.1?
No idea man, sorry. Is there anyone else running the game on windows xp?
I had made a thread question about it, no one replied though. I know bullets uses xp but only the 32 bit.
Can you run programs in compatibility mode on XP? If you can, try that maybe in 32bit XP or something (I’m no expert), it’s the only thing I can think of besides an OS upgrade…
Comparability didn’t work, I just ordered windows 8.1 today anyway so hopefully that will fix the problem.
Cool, it runs fine for me on windows 8.1 so hopefully no more problems!
