How is this system actually implemented, what control do you have over it and what types are in.
And are (or will) other systems for having a multi purpose engine (be) included like VRIS (Variable Resonance Induction System from Mazda) or the computer controlled systems on modern vehicles that lets you choose different settings on the fly (including torque).
These systems would be great late game i presume, allowing engines that are both powerfull and fuel efficient with or without a Vvt system.
without VVT u have a vertical slider, with u dont.
but are u maybe talking about VVL (id guess Leverage); meaning the distance the Valve enters the cylinder while open.
VVT changes the times at which the valves open by moving the cam relative to the crank.
There is a specific valve timing that produces the best power at each RPM, so VVT automatically moves the cam to make the most power (also improves emissions and econ, via adjusting the timing differently for light loads etc)
VVL actually swaps to a different cam, and allows you to pick 2 different cam profiles both with different timing and opening the valves further - this is like Honda VTEC etc.
You can have both together for even more awesomeness

are u sure?
So those are ingame.
But the other systems (something like Vris for instance) are not in, only VVL and VVT?
But isnt VVL the system used for nissan? as it is indeed the same as Honda but this system als has VVT (if im not mistaken) at least the Vtec system has both (VTEC = Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control)
And its a system that switches lobes (not cams ) which also determine the timing duration and lift due to lobe shape.
And if i’m reading correct, You can decide on the switchover point (at for instance 5000rpm) ?
Man i need to test that beta
Also for the info, main vtec systems for honda are
VTEC (B16A, B18C, H22A etc)
This system has 1 switchover point and 3 lobes (1 vtec lobe)
This system is for high rpm power without sacraficing low end torque and idle.
Its also used in Sohc engines but only on the intake valves.
VTEC-E (D15B, D16A etc)
If i’m not mistaken this system uses 2 lobes and also has 1 switchover point, but is the opposite of normal vtec as it increases fuel econ at low rpm’s and uses the 2 lobes at higher rpm. Only used on SOHC
3-stage VTEC (Dont know exactly, i thought newer D15B engines are 1 of them)
This is a blend of VTEC-E and Sohc VTEC, it uses 3 lobes and has 2 switchover points, first the small lobe than the small and first vtec then the first and second vtec lobes. is offcource for economy and power.
I-VTEC (most K-series engines)
The biggest difference here is the addition of true cam timing adjustments next to the 3 lobes camshaft (2 lobes in the economy I-VTEC) which adjusts according to load.
There are more moderns systems which i’m not familair with, but one also utilizes a new system calles VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) which shuts of cylinders with low load.
AVTEC is the most modern vtec system, but i have not read anything about it yet
with the VVL u have 2 sliders for cam instead of one, meaning one switching point, which is automatically placed where the output using the second cam is equal+1 the output of the first cam. but with the cam sliders you can force this point in either direction, but no saying you switch @ 5k or else.
VVT just removes the slider for the timings since they are as the name says variable.
That sums it up .
And i saw a power/econ slider on the fuel tab, so you can already do a number of things.
When the mail for beta tester arrives i will be more than happy to test this all out and give some c&c about it.
ah hell, every time i see c&c i think of command & conquer banging head against the wall
The economical style VVL I’m pretty sure just consists of a very economical cam and a normal cam, its usually on the econ cam and switches up when you need some power - I think the only one you can’t do with our system is the 3 stage one.
The 3 stage one is also not widely used irl…
@Deus ex Machina
C&C tiberian dawn , it also came to mind yes hehe (awesome game).
