Various interesting cars I have photographed

Very cool indeed, i cant tell you whens the last time i seen a Peugeot anything on the road!! I always thought those wagons looked so cool.

Ive never been so happy to see a 1st gen 4runner, I was excited to see that it even had the original wheels. Seen this same truck the next day too on the freeway.

Hello! Here are a few rare cars I’ve found over the past few years.

A Mitsubishi Diamante.

What I think is a Toyota Van.

A C-Class of some sort? Never seen another one of these.

A Saturn Astra. Very uncommon stateside.

300ZX :scream::scream::scream:

(sarcasm, front looks kind of similar though)

Indeed, C-class Sportcoupe, or CL203 in the codename. Despite the name it wasn’t really sporty at all, even the opposite to some degree. It had an engine option weaker than the other bodies, and didn’t have all the most powerful options (no V8 AMG, only 4-pot diesels + 5-pot AMG diesel). It’s not super popular this side of the ocean too, but not like it’s super rare either. Or rather, wasn’t super rare, as by now I guess most of them are dying of an acute case of rusting and general neglect, as most Mercs of that era are.

Well even less around here… as a Saturn :stuck_out_tongue: I wonder how did GM came up with an idea to sell Opels - cars of one of the most bland European brands - under the Saturn brand, which started out as one of the most interesting ideas GM had ever. But well, that’s GM, about as comprehensible as Cthulhu and about as logical as a toddler.

One should not forget that when the rest of the W203 lineup disappeared, the coupé was renamed the “CLC” and facelifted to look more in line with the W204.

To put it this way, I had an early W203 C-class and it was an unreliable pile of junk. My brother has one of the last sedans (2007 model, which actually only was produced for the last months of 2006) and it is clearly a much better car. And if I remember it right, statistics from ADAC did show that the last year of the CLC, 2011 I think, was THE most reliable car from that year on German roads. Courtesy of an 11 year old platform with all the bugs sorted out, I guess. A lifespan that equals the W123 and is close to the W124, now when I think about it…

Correction: that last car you saw was not a Z of any generation, but a Saturn SC. Considering its humble roots, GM made it look better than it should.

Correction of your Correction: It was sarcastic. In retrospect, I probably should have put a “/s” there.

And thus Mercedes had a “CL” of every class - CLA, CLC, CLE and CLS. And each of them was a different idea, sort of. CLA - contemporary A-class “coupe” sedan. CLC - old gen C-class “coupe” hatchback. CLE - actual coupe in between C and E-classes. CLS - contemporary E-class “coupe” sedan. None of them was/is just a coupe version of the regular model indicated in the name  Aaand, indirectly, CLE is a successor of the CLC, since C Coupe sort of replaced the CLC, and then got replaced by the CLE.

Ahh, to be Australian…

Mitsubishi Magna to us, was very common. On par with similar aged Camrys, Commodores and Falcons.

Oz had a few of these from different makes. Toyota HiAce, Mazda Bongo, etc.

Surprisingly, somewhat kinda common. I’ve definitely seen them around in various degrees, same with the BMW 3 series compact.

Were sold as Holden Astras here. Very, very common here and even had some hot hatch performance trims imported from the UK here.

Never got Saturns here so never seen that last one ever in Oz.

I remember the Saturn Astra being featured in one crime case because it was such a rare sight that it was very easy to track the criminal based on the fact he drove a Saturn Astra. I believe the Saturn version also has fatter bumpers, which make the car look a bit less proportional than the Holden/Vauxhall/Opel equivalent due to the US low speed bumper regulations.

Diamantes are very, very rare here. I’ve only seen two of them that I can remember, this one being somewhere near where I live.

Astras are slightly more popular. I’ve probably seen ~10 of them that I can recall, and I once saw two in a day! I haven’t seen one since I took this picture in 2022, for whatever reason.

Wow, nice variety of spots! That celica supra is getting pretty rare these days, love the boxy styling of those a60s. Not sure but looks like it’s in good condition from the pic.
