Okay, just to be clear, I need to get things straight.
From my current understanding, here’s how things WILL work:
Platform = chassis, suspension, and body family (hatchback/coupe/sedan/etc. with similar shapes).
Model = body, body shape, fixtures, drivetrain layout (FWD/AWD/RWD), and color.
NOTE: If I’m correct, I recall that at some point you’d be able to ‘group’ together fixtures and plop the group on another model (like the civic hatchback having the same front looks as the civic coupe)
Trim = engine, tyres, wheels, interior, and pretty much everything else.
For instance, if I recreated the AE86 and every model/trim for it, the ‘vehicle tree’ would look something like this:
- Platform ----------------------------AE86 Platform---------------------------------------
- Models —Levin Hatch----------Trueno Hatch--------Levin Coupe--------Trueno Coupe
- Trims ----GTS/SR-5-------------GTS/SR-5-----------GTS/SR-5-----------GTS/SR-5
So there would be 8 different AE86s, 4 models (what is currently the platform’s body) and 2 trims (what is currently the model) for each model.
And if I was to create the civic from let’s say 1997, I would make the platform (underside and body family), then create 2 models for that platform (hatchback and coupe, for instance), then 2 trims for each model (GT-S and Eco, because I don’t know the actual trims).
Am I correct, or is there something wrong about all this?
Jeesh, that was long.
