As absolutely nobody here knows, I have been in the market for a portable music player, something I can put in my pocket and forget about day-to-day. After a long while of searching, I happened upon the 4th gen Ipod Touch going for $89/8gb $109/16gb on Apple’s site. Those two(the only in my price range for the moment, I don’t want to splurge here) are always out of stock. The 8gb came in briefly, but I wanted to wait for the 16gb. It’s not in stock.
So today, I randomly decided to look again. And I found this
They are an eBay reseller, so it is buyer beware. I found both good and bad reviews about them, which is probably normal for most online retailers. I would question why they are selling a refurbished item at 60% of what the manufacturer is selling the same refurbished item. Proceed with caution.
I do not recommend the 4th gen. The 6th gen should be revealed soon, and the price of the 5th gen (a much higher quality product) will be lowered in price. FYI, I’m using my iPod 5th gen to write this
Damn, and here I was getting ready to offer my old iPhone 2G for free for him to use as an iPod if he wanted, I still use it as a phone from time to time when I need it, just needs a new battery since it has its original.
If you just want a music player, do you need to throw so much money at an iPod? There are plenty of other devices at much lower prices that will just play tunes.
I have an iPod Touch 4 and a Sandisk Sansa Clip+. The Sansa is still the one I go to, it has a battery that lasts for ages and it just plays music, nothing fancy (so it never gets “out of date” ). And it’s tiny.

Because I want an iPod? I like the app capability, and being able to connect to the internet is also useful. A device that will just play tunes is irrelevant.
No need to be so defensive. You said you were looking for a portable music player you could put in your pocket and forget about, so I offered some advice. I don’t see how that is irrelevant.
I actually disagree with this, I have had my 4th gen ipod since it has came out. I have dropped it in oil, ran over it with my car ( I don’t have a protector ) , it has fallen off the man lift at my previous job which was extended about 2.5 stories, and landed on gravel, sure they may be bulkier and heavier but they are way more durable.
however I would not buy refurbished ever, so in that respect the 5 wins.
In that case, it was a mistake on my part for leaving things out of the topic. Yes, i would like it to be multi-purpose, but have that capability. I’m not defending anything, nor do I have anything to defend. My apologies for the miscommunication.

What is wrong with refurbished? It is a product that has been returned to like-new condition by the seller. And the 5 wins? I don’t understand this too much. You can find refurbished 5s for much more money. In general, they are more expensive, and I’m not willing to pay such a large premium for it. Personally, I don’t need the latest and greatest, something that works is fine.
EDIT: To further clarify, I’m not looking for suggestions on the device. The topic is clearly asking about the site itself.
No worries, I sounded an arse as well and I should have got that from the first post.
If it was me I’d hold off a little longer if you can and see if Apple get them back in stock. You at least know that way it’s been refurbed by the right people and you know where it’s coming from, and their aftercare is pretty great.
I’ve gone through and checked it out some more, it’s Google Trusted and they offer $1000 of order insurance. It’s highly encrpyted, and has several security certificates. I’ve just ordered it for $99.70 with a coupon code and free shipping.

Alright then
I’ve waited for about a month, I don’t think they will be coming back in stock anytime soon. As stated above, I’ve researched it a bit more. Most of their refurbished products are items that were returned due to cosmetic/compatibility reasons, meaning there is a good chance I am getting a brand new item. All of their items are refurbished inhouse extensively, and returned to like-new condition before being placed on sale.
