What car grills do you want added to the fixture library?

I’m working on expanding the current fixture library and I figured asking the forums what you want in game would give me a better indication as to what’s missing and what the players want to see

What fixtures do you guys want to see added to the game? Right now I’m working on grills as they are easiest to put together and we’re still working out a few of the kinks with fixtures in the conversion to UE4.

If you could share what you would want to see added with a front-on example like these that would be great:

I’m primarily interested in some modern all-in-one lower grilles, similar to this mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=573961000

Here are a few different ideas:

(Or do we already have a similar grille?)

These grills may not be the prettiest but I think they will be a great addition to the game

More bonnet bulges and scoops please any and all

The Nissan DR30 (4 door) had an interesting grill;

3/4 view for depth

It also came in a pure honeycomb variant, but I don’t have a head-on photo of that on the car

I do have it by itself though

Honeycombs >.<

The Nissan Silvia S110 had two types of rather interesting grills.

and the other type is this

I could not find a head-on photo of it, but I don’t think you’ll need one… it is just made of small cubes.

I’ve always liked the grill of the '95 Altima (U13) I used to have. Unfortunately I have yet to find a good head-on photo of her. Only this,

but I did find a photo of the grill itself;

I’ve always loved the internal honeycomb

I personally believe headlights are more important to help make better designs. The grilles we currently have are already very flexible

Headlights I’d like to see:

I know most of these are from sports cars, but certainly they will help in making interesting designs on all body styles.

I’m not sure if it’s possible within the game, but can we make “deep” grills with Unreal 4? Currently all the grills in the game are only an inch deep or so, whereas the Challenger you posted up top has a grill that sits back a good half-foot.

Very easily doable even now. Just will often not work, in the case of the Challenger it will, but take another, smaller car then I think you see what the issue will be.

I second the lower grills. They’re so very useful with modern cars.

We could also use American grills of the 40s and 50s. Many do include lights and such, so they could certainly be simplified versions of the real ones.

Yeah, these are mostly 50s… we don’t have any proper jet age grills.

To bring up the headlight thing, the Dodge Diplomat shown a few posts above has my main request for those: square single and double sealed beam lights that can fit the shape of the car and stay vertical like the round ones already in the game.

hexagonal shaped grilles?
they seems to be quite interesting and popular in cheap and small cars

Please, developers. Remember to give us all the possible material combination (or at least the most).

Not sure if they’d fit as grills or be better as lips… but how about some rear diffusers? Or general rear grill designs?

Offroad style bumper designs (the lower shield) would also be useful:

The other thing I can suggest is recesses for licence plates or just for extra flair to the bumpers.

(the lower thing above the exhausts as well)

The issue with deep grilles is that they often cause the radiator to clip through.

IIRC Pleb’s IX grille is very deep, if you want to see the problem.

Are you referring to the fact the radiator “pokes through”? Or am I missing something super simple that I’m going to be embarrassed to have forgotten?

Edit: Whoops, just saw TrackPadUser’s reply. No way we can make the game say “Grill > Radiator” in cases of visual conflict, I assume?

quite simply that in most hatchbacks they can’t even house a 1L straight 3 longitudinally so a half-foot grille would pretty much be cutting into most of the engine components

Just edited my post :stuck_out_tongue:

But yeah, the issue with making deep grilles work with all cars is that it would often require to make the engine bay smaller or reduce the morphing range of the front end, and I think most people don’t want those.

As I said, Pleb made a super deep grille once, try using that on the 80s landrover like truck to see what I mean.

IIRC, even the deeper vanilla grilles can cause the rad to clip through when morphing the front end to be as short and sloped as possible.
