I’ve owned the previous vehicles (In list of first come first serve):
1998 Ford Ranger XLT (Stock)
1998 Ford Mustang GT (Stock)
1994 Ford F150 XLT (Stock, minus Clutch, Throttle body and Exhaust)
1992 Ford Ranger (Stock)
1985 Chevrolet S10 (350 SB out of a Camaro with Rollerrockers, Circle Track Cams, Aftermarket Pistons, etc.)
1998 Chevrolet Silverado (Stock)
1995 Ford F150 XLT (Lift Kit + 351 Windsor)
Mine has been long, and varied:
1979 VW Rabbit L Diesel
1973 Dodge Dart Swinger. It was a 318, 2bbl, auto when I got it. When I sold it, it had a 408, EFI, a fiberglass front clip, a Kiesler 5 speed, coil overs, and a 4 link rear.
1974 Dodge Dart 4 door, with a 225 Slant Six.
1969 Cadillac Funeral Coach
1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500
1977 Ford Granada
1979 Alfa Romeo GTV
1968 VW Beetle Sorry, but, you’re just not a true car person unless you’ve owned at least one air cooled VW.
1984 VW Scirocco
1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS-T
1990 Mercedes Benz 300D
1981 Lancia Scorpion
1985 Ford F-150 4.9L I6, and a 3 spd manual.
1989 GMS Suburban 1500 4WD
1991 Dodge Dakota
1996 Dodge Neon ACR, the only new car I ever owned.
There have been a mess of others, as well as a bunch of old Honda bikes, but, these are the most interesting, in my opinion.
One of only two cars to ever almost make me puke during maneuvering. Something about pulling over one lateral G going down Lake Washington Boulevard as it careens around the arboretum.
Mines a bit interesting, Im still young, but I’ve driven a couple of different cars because my father is a car dealer.
[ul]My first car was a 2000 Camaro Z28/SS, insurance got crazy, so my parents had to sell it. My dad already has a Camaro, and he allows me to drive it… sometimes[/ul]
[ul]My second was a 2004 Ford Explorer XLT V6, I wasn’t too fond of it, lol[/ul]
[ul]Third was a 2002 Honda Accord V6 Coupe, I had it the longest, and it was a darn good car too.[/ul]
[ul]Current is my passed down 2000 Silverado Z71, it has over 400,000 miles on it, and still runs like it has 300,000 less miles.[/ul]
[ul]Future would be passed down from my father, he has a 1981 Turbo Trans Am, in Smokey and the Bandit colors too![/ul]
If I could have one back, I’d take the Camaro, not cause its fast (I know, I sound crazy), but because it sounds cool, and looks cool and it gets good mpg. I somehow got 30+ mpg on the highway!
So, my father handed me down a 86 Toyota Celica, Was a rolling shell so i had to do some work, the wreckers by my house had a perfectly working 3SGE (non turbo) motor with “155,000ks” Cough,Bullsht,Cough* so got to work on that, unfortunately it was automatic… stupid 4 speed sludge boxes lol. i still own this car and it runs great, just did a full rebuild with forged pistons and eagle rods, Bored and sleeved cylinders and chased down a 245 degree camset. will eventually turbo it.
Next i have gotten myself into lawnmowers… you know… the 245hp K20 Civics? earlier on last year i swapped a k20 into my 96 Ek Civic i picked up for $2500 (AUD) had local race shop rebuild and blueprint the k20 ready for boost. its now running a Precision 6262 Turbo on 35psi making 650ish to the fly (570ish to the wheels)
But the civic is so god dam hard to drive on the road… just barely streetable. so im driving my dads 2014 Ford Territory TDI which after 10,000ks has leaking downpipe and suffers major boost cut… #Icanttouchit… #companycar…
im really inspired to do something unique. but having trouble coming up with good ideas… 1UZFE twinturbo celica? The engine bay is pretty big…
A fairly short list considering my age… (at least I think so). Staring at the age of 16…
1991 - 1973 Toyota RT81 Corolla 1.5Lt Manual Sedan (60hp)
1993 - 1977 Ford Mk2 Escort 2.0Lt Manual Sedan (110hp)
1998 - 1984 Ford XE Falcon 250ci EFI Auto Sedan (150hp)
2006 - 1994 Ford ED Fairmont 302V8 Sedan (220hp) …mmmmm…v8
Bought in 2006: 1989 Ford Escort Laser 1.6L (rusted like heck, decided to sell)
Bought in 2010: 1987 Nissan Sunny 1.6L (rust and expensive engine problems, scrapped)
Bought in 2012: 1988 Nissan Sunny 1.4L (a snow plow reversed without noticing it, wrecked)
Bought in 2012: 1992 Ford Escort 1.8L (rusted like heck, decided to sell. Loved the engine in this. My first fuel injected car and my first car with over 100 horsepower, I was so happy! )
Bought in 2012: 1997 VolksWagen Vento 1.8L (all kinds of small problems all the time, impossible to open doors in winter, or if you somehow got a door open it wouldn’t close, decided to sell)
Bought in 2014: 2001 Opel Astra Sport 2.2L (fun but ugly, we’ll see how long this lasts. It’s slowly losing oil somewhere.)
Today I bought a 1995 Volvo 850 T5 Estate, 2 liter turbo I5. It’s got a bigger turbo installed so it’s around 230 hp instead of the stock 211 hp. Nice find for 500 euros, it’s in superb condition except for the windshield and some joint in the drive shaft which I’m gonna get replaced tomorrow.
The whole car cost you 500 euros? Jesus christ that’s a bargain!
Tell me about it. My car mechanic cousin (whose friend’s car it was) was amazed. Of course fixing it takes another 300 or so and it needs new winter tyres as well but still, once it’s fixed it’s the same condition as a 2000 eur car. We’ll see if it offers any unpleasant surprises in the future. The previous owner seemed to immediately regret selling it at all. The windshield was busted by the owner’s ex girlfriend when they broke up
All ‘dailys’… the first four were standards, the rest have all been automatics.
1977 Toyota Corolla 1.2 (purchased 4 yrs old, kept 4 yrs) - tiny but indestructible engine; could lift this in and out of tight parking spots with a friend; gave it to my brother free, it rusted out eventually.
1983 Honda Prelude (purchased 2 yrs old, kept 3 yrs) - drove it like I stole it, handled like a charm
1988 Ford Mustang 2.3 (leased new for 2 yrs) - meh… basic low-tech low-cost transportation
1991 Honda Prelude (purchased new, kept 9 yrs) - real fun to drive, I took it places it was not meant to go though.
198? Chevy Celebrity (inherited by wife, kept a few years) - the taxi, we called it.
1997 Honda Civic 4dr (purchased new for wife, kept 15 yrs) - cheapest car to operate/maintain we’ve had
2000 Nissan Maxima (purchased new, kept 14 yrs) - NOT cheapest car to operate/maintain we’ve had
2012 VW Golf Wagon 2.5 - a.k.a. ‘Jetta Sportwagon’ in US (purchased new for wife, will probably keep it a long time)
2015 Mazda 6 (purchased new in 2014) - lovin’ it so far.
This is as good a place to make a first post as any isn’t it?
Always like threads like this and seeing how other peoples car history is influenced by their lives and visa vera.

Sure wish I still had the Mustang GT, (fun car), and the Chevelle (fast car) Oh, and I had an airplane for a few years also - 1946 Ercoupe 415CD - sold
1991 Mazda 121 (1.3L I4). BEST first car ever, the only reason I’ve stopped driving it is cause after ~50km of driving the engine blows all the coolant out of the radiator. I think it’s just the head gasket but I haven’t been arsed to look at it yet. 380000km
then bought
1971 Chrysler VH Valiant Charger 770 (265cu-in I6). I’ll tell you what, going from the 50 horse power of the Mazda to the 300hp of this thing is a HELL OF A jump. I drove it during my provisional license as well which was always fun and because we have very weird laws here saying that learner’s/provisional drivers can’t drive anything with more than 6 cylinders or with a turbo/super charger and beast is neither of those things but still held the title of fastest accelerating car in Australia for decades.
Seems like nothing compared to a lot being posted here but I still love both of them.
