What was the best year for cars?
Related to the favorite car from your birth year , I’d like to share your opinion on what you think was the best year for new cars.
I’ll start with 1994 - the sweet spot between technology, pace, safety, and economy:
The year immediately after that comes a very close second:
In fact, the 1990s as a whole (especially the middle two years) were the best decade for new cars everywhere, as these videos show:
Now it’s your turn. What do you think was the best year for new cars globally? Please let me know.
1989, but anywhere between roughly 1985 and 2000 is plausible by me.
I’m gonna go with 1886 since that’s when the Benz Patent-Motorwagen came out.
I mean, when you think about, without this thing we wouldn’t have cars. We’d still be using horses. Or even worse, donkeys.

I’m in the same boat - that specific era really was the sweet spot. Before that, the technology was too primitive; after 2000, regulations regarding safety, economy, emissions, etc., slowly became too stringent compared to previous eras.
