Hey guys i was just wondering what your favorite motor you have build was, and i want to know if its a motor used in real life, what the HP and stuff was, thanks
mine is my twin turbo Pushrod v8 chevy 383 stroker,
Hp 1549@7900 RPM
Torque 1112@ 6600 RPM
Redline is at 9300
it makes 33 pounds of boost at 7500 RPM
responsiveness is 75
smoothness is 65
and its on 95 octane
it’s all good, but the powerband doesn’t look very usable really, you always want to reach max power about 500rpm before the actual redline, wouldn’t be enjoyable in real world if you put it that way
I understand all about area under the curve. I wanted to get 200hp out of a production style 1.6 with 1992 tech. It’s 125 hp/L naturally aspirated… it was always going to be peaky as hell. I could probably have hit my hp target with a slightly more conservative cam and a little more rpm and gotten a slightly fuller power curve, but I was hitting the point of deteriorating lifespan at 8700 rpm. I could have done it by throwing fuel at the engine, but I wanted a hot hatch motor so I needed to keep the efficiency reasonable, so the AFR is only at ~13.6:1. I could have used race headers and backed off on the cam but I made the motor with a production mindset. And like any production engine, it’s full of compromises, but I really wanted a 200 hp 1.6.
As for not being enjoyable, that’s debatable. I for one enjoy beating the snot out of an engine.
Mine would be the 3224hp engine i posted in the engine sharing forum, really because I spent more time on that engine than any other trying to wring every last bit of power out of it. Good fun, if a little addictive
It isn’t particularly powerful … or responsive especially since its 2013 engine. However cheap to make and pretty compact for 3L V8. Which was the goal. Yeah I know it isn’t very impressive. However it is my favourite engine. For some reason I had much more fun doing cheap engines like this one than super car engines of doom.
I would say this is my favourite engine… its a nice big reliable, yet powerful 1969 V8 from a rare version of the predecessor of the sportscar, which I have posted an engine of on the engine sharing forum (and nobody has replied ). But here it is
