Wolf in Sheep's Clothing 04 (WISC04) [1 Week Left]

how to send the car, do i need to DM on discord or here

Can said vehicles be from different brands (platform mates)? Or must they be from the same brand?

I’m assuming it’s the latter.

@sutarttt once you’ve gained sufficient trust, you may DM the host your .car file for the sleeper (and that of the base car, if it’s not featured enough in the ad containing both trims).

wait so do i need to do 2 trim, one base and one sleeper?

Both, although only the sleeper must be submitted via DM (the base car is optional).

It’s allowed, as long as there’s still a strong visual link between the two (think Ford Crown Victoria vs Mercury Marauder).

Yes. The base model can just be an empty shell since it’ll only be used as a design reference, although I’m tempted to change the base model from a requirement to a “nice to have” if enough people think it wouldn’t be beneficial (I may make a poll on it in the coming days).

Also as a general announcement, rule deliberation will end tomorrow and there were some minor changes to them.

i think requiring two cars with different bodys might put people off doing this challenge.

Not quite. If I’m not mistaken, the sleeper and the base car must share the same body set.

Attention All

As of writing, rule deliberation is now CLOSED and submissions are now OPEN. After further thought, requiring a base model alongside the sleeper may not be the best course of action. Please react to the below poll with your thoughts regarding the base vehicle.

Should the Base Car be a requirement or highly recommended?

Alright, the people have spoken, the base car is now encouraged and no longer a requirement. The main post and rules have been updated as a result.

To celebrate the 15th Anniversary of both the car model and the existence of Ascot Street & Performance (or ASP), they decided to take the sport package of the venerable Ascot Runner compact pickup and have some ‘fun’.

After receiving a truck with said sports package, they tweaked the front bumper to provide more cooling and better aero, as well as including a hard tonneau cover with a small lip spoiler. Underneath, the leaf springs get replaced with coils and all the suspension, brakes and drivetrain is generally beefed up.

And the pièce de résistance, the standard Iron 4.3 L V6 got torn out in place of shoehorning an all aluminum 5.9 L V8 between the frame rails pushing over 300 HP to the rear wheels. The next generation of pony cars now has a truck bed.

2004 AMS Argonite 2.0 GT

A subtle aero kit and wider alloy wheels give little clue to the 220-bhp turbocharged I4 that lies under its hood, turning all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox and a set of helical LSDs.

In short, it’s a WRX rival for those who want to slip under the radar, especially at a low price of just $25,000.

Can you clarify realism expectations? On a scale from one of the inspirations - the W12 Touareg with 450PS, and well over $30k new - to a hypothetical quad-turbo V12 that’s explicitly forbidden, where do we draw the line, for example for a Brabus E V12? Are we going for realistic for the actual 2004 market, or aftermarket included? With the regard to price or no, and if so, whether 1:1 $/EUR:AMU or scaled?

I think a good example can be the 2008 Lexus ISF which had a 5.0 V8 making 450~ HP, It was cheaper than performance luxury cars of Germany but keeping a subtle design that gives it the sleeper car aesthetic.
On my end, for CBC Quest I made above, I got inspired by the Alfa Romeo 168, trying to match it’s numbers…

Thanks for reaching out.

Realism is more of a “can it be done” in my book than a “was it actually done”. That said, it has to make sense for the vehicle too. A quad turbo V12 (or even a twin turbo V12) wouldn’t really make sense in this type of car, but an NA V12 would as long as it fits in the budget. Anything more than 8 cylinders with forced induction would need a really good reason behind it. This challenge is more on the factory side than the aftermarket side (AMG is in line with the prompt, Brabus not really).

You can almost think of this challenge as a toned down TMCC38 style and performance wise. TMCC38 wanted something more like Brabus, while I’m looking for something more like AMG.

As far as power goes, there were some wild factory sleepers for sure cough CARLTON cough. While I don’t want to impose a strict power limit, if you’re pushing more power than the 04 Murcielago (580 HP), your priorities probably aren’t in the right place and the stats will suffer too. The absolute upper crust of the cars here would start to encroach to supercar performance like the Carlton, but would only beat them on the practicality front.

Hope this helps.

Good response. It does, thanks.

How about noise? It’s unclear whether we want more or less, other things held constant.

The hard cap of noise is 55. Any higher noise value won’t harm you, but you may lose points if noise dips too low (say 30ish, wherever a “normal” car would be) since you are building a sports car.

Either the 55 cap is a minimum, or those are contradictory…

I didn’t explain that correctly, my bad. 55 is the hard cap. A high noise value under 55, such as 45, won’t harm you points wise, but if you dip into the mid to low 30s range, you may get docked points.

Does this make a little more sense? My life’s been a bit of a whirlwind lately.
