I love you’re thinking with those choices @KA24DE . And no doubt about Blue Oyster Cult, ‘Don’t Fear The Reaper’ is a great driving song.
I think there’s only one genuine and absolute driving song, and it’s this:
At the same time however, I also find the best songs to listen to while driving tend to be ones I can sing along to, and usually I listen to albums off of CDs (not quite ready to switch to full Bluetooth connectivity just yet). Best ones I’ve found are:
The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Silent Alarm by Bloc Party
Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols by The Sex Pistols
Oooh! Now there’s a conversation for another time; whether Second Coming was a disappointment or whether it was actually really good. Though that it is one of the better songs from the album
@TheRoadrunner Oooh! A bit of The Modern Lovers! You can’t go wrong there.
@partario Ikr, what the hell were they thinking with the hidden track? Sounded like a primary school music lesson.
That’s a great little tune though, haven’t heard of Geggy Tah before.
Here’s some more cracking songs I love driving too.
When it’s late at night (i.e. post 12am), DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing… is superb accompaniment, and this song is definitely the best for wandering around empty suburban roads.
(It’s also a f*cking amazing song on it’s own, and the whole album is masterful)
Perfect song for bombing down the motorway - Deep Purple’s Burn
No Good (Start The Dance) by The Prodigy always puts me in mind of street racing
And then there’s the mother of all driving songs, Riders On The Storm by The Doors. Cruising around at night while it’s raining could not be better complimented in any way.
On a side note, here’s a slightly more interesting driving song: Two Tribes by Frankie Goes To Hollywood:
Put this here for two reasons.
This came on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show once while I was driving to school, at which point in the morning I was feeling pretty grumpy and still tired. This woke me up to stay the least…
It was used in an episode of Clarkson’s Car Years as backing music for a Group B rally montage. Best song choice anyone could have ever made for it. https://youtu.be/IocMDfTw1_0?t=12m9s
I honestly just listen to a small assortment of whatever rock/hardrock cds i’ve recently bought (note: the cds are not a new release all the time, in fact, recently I’ve recently got a more unknown cd from the turn of the century)
Ok driving songs.
