Zap! trophy 1988 [cancelled]

I think if you don’t download the vents from Prylix’s thread, then you don’t have cooling. See the first post to find the vents, headlights, and chrome strips.

and after many many downloads and manuevers (deletes and reisntalls of the car) I still dont have a grille

I really wish there weren’t so many technical issues dogging this tournament - I love the idea of it, but if people can’t create their entries…

Next time I’ll probably do a vanilla body. Now it’s too late to change it.

The answer to your problem lies in reaching for some chocolate fudge topping!

A vanilla body would be good next time  I would have participated if it was without mods. Looking great though!

also… is there a way to access the brobot?

No, there isn’t. This is a test of doing the simulation for others. I’m still the only one who can run it and this won’t change for a longer time.

It is a lot of hassle, but I got it to work.

  1. Install the vents and grills and overwrite the old “vanilla files” in the correct folders found in Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/common/Automation/assets/meshes (viewtopic.php?f=38&t=5964)

  2. Install the community mod pack in the correct folders found in Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/common/Automation/assets/meshes (viewtopic.php?f=38&t=5477)

  3. Download and install the car in your “my games/Automation” folder in case you use the Steam version from the OP.

A thought: if you downloaded and opened the car before installing the vents, grilles, and community mod pack, the game might have changed the file to delete the grilles. So it’s probably worthwhile to unzip the zip file again after doing Tycondero’s Steps 1 and 2.

Did that 3 times but I will try once more

This might be a dumb suggestion, but … could you make a vanilla-only clone of the ZAP? I assume BROBOT doesn’t care about aesthetics, just performance metrics.

I understand that some people are having problem with the car modded parts, but I have to say that a lot of people are doing quite fine and I didn’t had any complain from the “beta-tester” of the championship formula before the Trophy started.

BROBOT will not care about the aesthetics, but I will not create a vanilla ZAP clone. I’m sorry, but I’m afraid to go into arguing of “the vanilla body cooling is 0.1kj/s different from the original one, i’ve already sent in the version for the modded version and I’m 0.01 slower blah blah blah”, and it will be more complicated for me to check the entries too.
This time it goes like this.

As I stated earlier, next time I’ll do a championship like this I’ll make a “vanilla” body to reduce the inconvenient.

Due the low amount of submission and cause half of them was wrong, I’ve decided to close the competition without starting it.

I’ll prepare soon a new championship with vanilla body and longer deadline.

i’m sorry for the people who spend their time on this Zap, but I hope this fist try will be useful to avoid my mistakes into the next formula.

Goodnight everybody and thanks again.

Please moderators, close the thread.

I also think the big issue was the reliance on mods outside the main mod pack, I personally dont want to be downloading a ton of mods just to run in one challenge. Keep it simple and you should get more entries  I will enter your next event as long as it happens before my vacation in May

I look forward to the next version.

Locking as requested.
