Hey people, First post here, Thought I’d open up by showing what car I drive, Being an automotive driven forum it is.
Car is a 1997 honda integra vti-r. Engine is a 96 spec integra type R motor, Running stock wide ratio open diff gearbox (Have a 98 spec gearbox being rebuilt at the moment for it!), J’s racing intake, J’s Racing headers, custom 2.5" exhaust from headers to rear muffler (no cat), Car is only lowered on springs at the moment but will be sorting some camber arms and adjustable suspension in the next year. Exterior mods are relatively simple, front lip from a facelift integra type R, Zeal side skirts and a mugen gen 1 wing (Have a 98 spec itr rear bumper getting painted at the moment). Have owned this car for around 5 years now, When I bought it, it was completely stock, And it is my daily driver.
Engine bay is looking clean.
The 98 spec gearbox has a slightly shorter ratio making it better for track use. But the gearbox you have on it now is not the 96 spec? (as there is no lsd)
Hey my very first comment on your site. ,I have been reading your post for a while and thought I would completely pop in
and drop a friendly note. . It is great stuff indeed. Cat Back Exhaust
New gearbox, clutch, flywheel and solid rear engine mount is in. Put new crank seals, cambelt, tensioner and waterpump on too when the gearbox went on New gear ratio’s are awesome! Nearly ready for opening round of night speed drag wars Got some hankook Z211 semi’s for at the drags too, hopefully help me hook up alot better
Little did I know my radiator was blocked, And amongst going through traffic in the middle of auckland, It decided to split its top tank! Have sorted an alloy replacement so will be getting that next weekend
Motor out, cleaned and painted up with headers sitting on there to see what its going to look like
yeah - nothing really new with it - just saving to fix the stuff on it and buying spares for it - once i get all that behind me i can focus on saving for GFB’s
Nice goodies… new gearbox, lsd goodness .
She pulls hard btw, wheelspin in 2nd? (mine does that also sometimes )
How many solid engine mounts are in there atm? all 5?
Because i have 5 solid mounts (3x hassport solid mounts and 2 energy suspensions inserts.) and she vibrates like an… well erm… she vibrates, the whole chassis.
But the feeling of the gearbox is great and switching gears is super easy. Offcource no wheelhop anymore.
Radiator top tank split, so replaced it with an alloy item.
Getting rid of the crush bent 2.5" (63mm) exhaust in favour of a mugen exhaust which is a nice mandrel bent 60mm item.
Managed to collect a possum on my way home from the monthly car club meet (nzhondas.com) and lost my front lip So will need to get a new one - Time for a change!
Had our annual car club trackday at taupo, Car went great Can see my car in this video
I really like your car It sounds really good too. I’m wondering what wheels are on it though, and are you planning on fitting a different lip or just a replacement? :]
The wheels are a stock optional wheel, I’ve kept them because I don’t mind them and theres not many of them in NZ. As for the lip I’m looking at a spoon lip
Changed my intake from the J’s racing intake to a 3" pipe with a velocity stack and filter, Made much better power. Although somethings going on in the top end. Last time it was dyno’d it made 126~wkw, now its making 117~wkw, Same power curve till about 8,000rpm then flattens off quite bad.
Heres the new graph, As you can see the J’s racing intake made 108wkw, the 3" intake with velocity stack and filter made 116wkw, with gains all through the rev range!, I’m not worried about the loss of power at the top end too much, The car still performs great, and takes a beating whenever I feel the need to dish it out
Car has undergone some prep work recently, Have our car club (nzhondas.com)'s annual meet named NIMM (North Island Mega Meet), Racing at Taupo
Things that’ve changed: Changed the original brake hoses to some braided items, Got some 16x7 Work Emotion CR-Kai’s, Wrapped in some Hankook F200 Slicks , Changed from the stock shock and Jamex spring combo to some D2 coilovers - Running 12kg springs in front and 10.5kg springs in rear, And some GDL rear lower control arms.
Nice job done at your honda. But if you install bumpers, please pay attention to thegap dimensions. It destroys the whole effect if there are so big gaps (like between your front spoiler and the fenders.
