I Do not wish to post in the initial thread simply because the results will always be hard to find. So let’s keep this clean and if you wish to comment please do so [over here] (Performance tuner Time attack 1995 - #258 by ramthecowy)
I will add people if they submit their cars in the next 2 hours, but come on, it’s been 10 days, so we’re starting the pre-race introductions
So let’s get into this thing.
Hello and welcome to Brands Hatch indy, where we have managed to piggyback onto a BTCC series as a warmup event for this weekend. The crowd is mostly slim, and uninterested in non BTCC cars, but this does not stop the action in the pit lane to be interested. First off let’s walk the pits and see what’s what
In pit #1 we see team FSR, led by Frank’N’Stein, working on a 1985 Direwolf. The original car had a 5 liter v8, and was able to produce 340hp, and with the car updated, upgraded and modified it will be interesting to see what a family saloon can do on a track
As we advance to pit #2 we see factory backed Erin team toiling away on the Group A spec Erin Nasaro, with quite a few modifications to boot. Originally a 240hp sportscar it was modified for competitions to Group A spec, laying waste to many competitors throughout the 80s, now brought up to spec of 95 time attack challenge, looking to prove Erin as a major player on a growing track day enthusiast market
Pit #3 is not as busy as the previous two, but it’s filled by hardcore enthusiasts. The OMG racing team has been seen all over the world competing in numerous events, and today they brought their hotlap challenge machine, fully upgraded and eager to prove the bigger guys that speed does not come from huge financial backing, and with the base car designed for brutal speeds, they have quite the chances.
In pit #4 we get to see yet another racing legend, a Lincorne Wapiti Rallye, the team is funded by Lincorne and is looking to see if performance market is as promising as they make it out to be. The car is as (almost) all cars here seriously modified, and is an actual model that brought Lincorne into the world of motorsport, so the pedigree is out of the question
Pit #5 sees team Bogliq, a comapny with seemingly endless supply of finances and manpower, now widening it’s grasp in motorsport over to the time attack series which were planned as an amateur tuner event, but prove to be everything but. What they bring in is a 1990 Bogliq Envoy, with little left of the stock car we get to see on the roads
In Pit #6 we see a new tuner company BlackDawn racing, headed by Vri404, bringing some fresh blood to the table, and judging by the state of their 1986 Eden Pyxis, they’re here for blood. The seriously modified GT is barely track legal, not to mention street legal, only track will tell if it will be enough
Pit #7 and we have another car created strictly for speed, the Scarab Eruption GT, modified by a small team of amateur racers to be an even more ruthless speed machine. Originally created for the hotlap challenge just like the Starter V2, this is a no nonsense v8 powerhouse, lets hope the driver is as mad as the car they’ve built
The 8th pit is occupied the Nordic Gods of tuning and all things powerful - team Hypera. The bearded lot is conducting their pre-flight checks on the signature matte orange Etalon XGti, while a few people are posted to not allow anybody from the neigbouring pits to see much of the know-how.
Pit #9 is exactly why Hypera has been protective of their secrets, it is occupied by a German army of engineers, wearing matching uniforms, the Kraft Haus Technik, trying to bring some spotlight to their products, both cars and performance modifications. They have chosen their own Saminda powered Tsukuba in R trim, which should provide an interesting battle against modified Saminda CZ6’s, who are running similar chassis but with a much bigger engine, unavailable to KHT
Spot #10 in the pitlane belongs to a small band of engineers led by Nomade0013 under the banner of GTL, a new found tuner company, sporting a Storm Envy GTL, in what seems to be a very extreme state of modification. Nobody knows what exact power outputs the car produces, but it’s sure clear that the tuner market has got a new serious player.
In pit #11 we find the Storm company themselves, who, unlike their many clients do not seem to have understood what sort of a competition this is, as they brought a Storm Serenity a v6 powered minivan. The car is definitely modified and can deal some damage, but before the racing has actually started all it did was raise eyebrows.
Number 12 on the list is a loner, a tuner / builder / racer STM316, running a heavily modified Puttzalong 2500, with it’s mighty 4 cylinder engine. The age of the car and it’s technology seem to be some of the most concerning things among their competition, but with the rech reglament being so loose, the old school sedan might be packing serious power in the light body.
As we move on to Pit #13 we see yet another small group of garage bred tuners, bringing in something very old and cool, the Ageous, a v12 powered 1946 machine, brought up to spec 50 years later, and put to good use on the racetrack. We do not know how much was changed to the car, but it could be just a fiberglass shell running the original v12, or it could actually be a full metal post war beast. We will find out on the track
The pitlane #14 is a lot more crowded than the previous couple, it is filled with the Znopersk team, who seem to have understood what they’re in for even less than the Storm team. A bunch of panicking engineers doing their pre-race modifications trying desperately to add some cruicial speed to a … completely vanilla, borderline stock Znopersk Zap, complete with 200hp and FWD. There is a lot of italian shouting in this box, and if the car is any indication, it will be more of the same as the season progresses
In box #15 we get to see a real classic, a Japanese Midnight club hero, the Dreamy Ghost, a yellow, heavily modified Saminda CZ6. The car looks as good as we all imagined, and the bunch of people seem to run around it in a spectacular fashion, with a sense of purpose, all knowing their exact place and job at any given moment. The car has proven itself on the long straights of Wangan Sen, and the flowing bends of C1 loop, but now it’s time to see what it can do on a racetrack.
Pit #16 is another gem of engineering, a 1983 Dom Max pacecar, upgraded, stripped and converted for pure speed by Airjordan’s little group, the main competitor for the one off should be the Ageous, but we will see on the track. The car has been fast on the first shakedown, but nobody except for the team themselves have brought stopwatches to see how fast.
The 17th position on the pitlane is yet another Saminda CZ6, the rare beast you’d be lucky to see in your lifetime has made two appearances in the first season of Time Attack, which is a good indicator. Team Stealth seems to taken a completely different approach to their build as the Dreamy Ghost. The car is black, inconspicuous among it’s peers, hiding well placed modifications from the naked eye, a perfect street weapon come to prove itself on a racetrack.
Pitlane #18 and we have a Storm GTX, tuned by UMGaming and his small private team. The small car seems to be competing for popularity with the KHT Tsukuba and the Saminda CZ6. The shakedown runs seemed good, but as usual nobody was keeping track of laptimes. The track will see the winner in this MR group, as well as if the lightweight sportscars can keep up with the heavier monsters packing all the power.
Number 19 is a pit of team JHW performance, running a Storm Breeze, with wings on both sides of the car, which we should all admit looks silly. The car has been a hit and miss with the crowd, somebody finding it ingenious by design, and some not paying any real mind to it. The team is ready to show what they got, however
Pit #20 is the new home of team SkidX, representing Dimension motors, using their RWD classic the Voyager. The car has certainly been modified to look the part and can go like clappers, but we will have to wait and see if this dark horse has the potential .
Running late and barely making it in time, pit 21 is a privately run Dimension Paradox mk3. The car has a history of being fast and easy to modify and the work by Ramthecowy proves this. A small garage of people have turned this car into a monster, while keeping the stealthy look, hiding the evil in plain sight in the streets
Another late entry unloading their car into the pitlane at #22 is a privately owned communitasia mkIV to be piloted by RileyBanks. The car is well known for being a cheap and sturdy enough car, with previous versions of the car getting regular visits by performance tuners. This particular one is riding on beastly tires and is wearing one of the most outrageous bodykits imaginable. Only the laptimes will tell us if this is a success or if it’s a futile build like communism itself
Gentlemen, get ready for the practice session
