1960's Automation Earl's Court Auto Show: Polls Part 2

#Earl’s Court Auto Show 1960

(Yeah I know it says October 14th-23rd, but who cares?)

The show will be open from the 27th March to the 7th April

This show is just like any other, but it’s set in the 1960s, so use common sense and dont post anything from 1970 onwards.

Anything up 1969 can be posted as ‘Concept Cars’, but nothing else.

@DeusExMackia will hopefully provide commentary as the ‘Dashing Gordon Anderson’. There will definitely be polls for best in show at the very end.

Also feel free to put up teasers!

See you there!

Is there an actual year for this or just the 1960s as a whole?

1960, specifically, but you can post cars up until 1969 as a ‘Concept Car’. You can also post cars from previous years too

1960 is a good year due to a completely renovated IMP range.

WMD’s first two-seater, the CB6, debuted at the 1960 Earl’s Court Auto Show, and was available as a coupe or convertible. This mass-produced, steel-bodied sports car was powered by a 2.5-liter, 24-valve, dual-overhead-cam straight-six, and was equipped with all-independent suspension and disc brakes at each corner; as such, it made true performance and handling accessible to the common man, with consistently strong sales throughout the decade.

Its soul lives on in the current CBX6, which also combines light weight with a small-displacement but high-output normally-aspirated straight-six to great effect.

The Petoskey Rapier first rolled onto the dealership lots in 1959. the car was well known for it’s unusual, futuristic look.

Under the hood sits a powerful 261 cubic inch inline six straight out of the Indian which was discontinued the year prior. Despite the same power output, the Rapier’s aerodynamic design and lighter weight aluminum body panels allows for better acceleration and fuel efficiency. Unfortunately, the aluminum body panels proved more difficult to manufacture than originally assumed, thus production of the Rapier is a ways behind consumer demand. The Rapier holds the distinction of being the first base model Petoskey to use disc brakes on the front wheels. Rumors around the grapevine suggest a potential V8 model is in the works.

The Cortino is the newest base vehicle in Petoskey’s lineup.

The versatile platform allows for a sedan, a coupe, and estate model. A 151 cubic inch inline 4 sits under the hood. The Cortino was conceived as a model that could be produced in far greater volume than the Rapier. Lightweight, fuel efficience, and practical, the Cortino provides the solution for any family needs.

The Ventnor Sovereign gets an update this year, Petoskey’s luxury flagship boasts an improved four-barrel 432 V8

In addition, the Sovereign now sports a three speed automatic transmission, front wheel disc brakes, and a state of the art ArbyTronics phonograph system.

The 432 V8 proved to be a versatile engine, it was decided that the engine would do well in utilitarian applications. After a twelve year hiatus, Petoskey Motors is back in the pickup truck market with the new Stag

A rugged military-inspired work truck, the Stag is durable enough to handle all your needs. The Stag continues the legacy of the HD series of the 1940s.

If you have a few extra people to haul around on the trail, you might be interested in the Stag Klondike.

The eight passenger hauler from Petoskey Motors is durable and solid enough to get you out of any mud pit, ditch, hole, you name it, the Klondike can crawl its way out of anything!

Rumors have floated around about an update coming to the Meteor. The speedy six-cylinder sports car has won its way into the hearts of many enthusiasts. However, as the competition strives to improve, so shall we.

This is merely a concept model, technical specifications are unavailable. A production model is expected to arrive within two years.

Brivio. Italy. Four Cylinders. Eight Valves. 72 Horsepower. 3 Speed column shift manual. These are the ingredients used to make the latest Brivio Roma.

“Good day to you all, my name is David Bloxham of the Brivio UK marketing department and I am here to introduce this brand new family saloon car. I am standing in front of the ‘Roma Aniene 2000’, this model has a 1998cc Single Overhead Cam 8 Valve Four Cylinder engine from the ‘CAM Serie’, the Roma is capable of reaching 92 miles per hour and produces a rather spiffing 72 break horse power.”

“Strip away at the beautifully styled saloon car and you will find the automobile utilises a macpherson strut and semi trailing arm suspension setup, you will also find that the motor has front single piston disc brakes, this is a whole new idea for Brivio but we hope to utilise the all round disc brake concept we are using in the all new Imola which will be shown pretty soon.”

“Inside the cabin you will find 5 comfortable vinyl leather seats, you will also find a central arm rest that folds down between the driver and front passenger seat for maximum comfort, the automobile also comes with real wood trim located on the inside of the doors and along the face of the dashboard, you will find a generously sized glove compartment on the passenger side which can easily hold your driving gloves and A to Z map of Great Britain.”

“The audio system is a rather basic two speaker setup with a radio unit made by Becker in Germany, the sound quality is miles ahead of similar cars thus meaning you can enjoy listening to Cliff Richard on those long family road trips to the beach.”

“The 1960 Roma also provides a central locking feature, this means when you lock the drivers door, the other doors also lock.”

“The all new 1960 Roma is not a fast car, but it also isn’t a slow car, the Roma will carry you up to 62 miles per hour in almost 16 second and will continue on to 92 miles per hour. the car itself only weighs in at 922 kilograms, this low weight allows the car to achieve almost 30 miles to the gallon, obviously a higher MPG could be achieved but we did not want to make a painfully slow car.”

“The most important part of buying a new car is weather it is good value for money, well, we are glad to say the new Roma is only £7,200.00, this automobile should appeal to all of those middle class families who cannot wait to get hold of something Italian.”

“Feel free to stroll around the car and have a seat inside and get a feel for that Italian quality.”
