2017 New York International Auto Show

The late TurboJ remembers this one:

Nothing more than an early super saloon, made by Holburn Autocar, a now defunct british make known for their highly strung and highly prone to spontaneous external combustion engines. The Rocket made use of a 2.0L DOHC Inline six with impressive for the time 70hp, making it capable of 90mph in 1939. The car reentered production after WW2 and even spawned a number of successors.

The first of which was launched in 1953 and was a redesign of the original with a modern engine. Its 2.2L engine only had a single overhead camshaft but the advancements in technology made it capable of 110hp when equipped with three SU carburettors. The Rocket II was one of the few english production cars at the time to exceed 110mph.

The 1959 Rocket III was no longer a standalone model, but based of the Holburn 2000 family sedan. However it got to keep the six cylinder engine which had been tuned to 150hp by increasing displacement to 2.6L. Due to the boxy shape it was however only marginally faster than its predecessor at 118mph.

The 1965 Rocket IV was once again a standalone vehicle with a completely new body and independent suspension with coil springs that replaced the rear leaf springs and live axle. The engine had received a crossflow cylinder head and was bored out to 2.9L which was good for 180hp. Later models had up to 3.6L and 230hp. Depending on what engine you got, it could exceed 135mph. For some reason the Rocket IV was produced with only minimal changes until 1981.

Creators note: This is in no way shape or form a tease for a revival of the marque, just some cars that exist and for which I lack an appropriate thread.

(Note: This company is going to be properly fleshed out once UE4 hits, but I thought I’d show some stuff I’ve made anyway. It is an established company, so, if you’re going in character, we’re not new.)

“We have shied from Autoshows for 10 years, but we have finally resurfaced, not too far from Home base, up in Portland.” A woman walks onto the stage, wearing a black robe, so only her face is visible, however it doesn’t seem to move. “We started back in 1953, with the Original Pilot. A rather strange use of the American ideas. We put a V8 into a Mid-range model, and sold it for nothing. The Car sold enough for us to survive.”

A Generation 1 Pilot rolls onto the stage.

“Now, we don’t have a new pilot to show, that was released last year. Instead, we have the Concept for the New Ogre and Atlas platform, and the new 1MR trim of the Specter.”

Interlude Track plays

“Now, we are pleased to present the new Vinson Dynamics Ogre-Atlas Concept. This is an initial design. Things will change. The Design is nothing more than a test platform for a new headlight and taillight designs, and will not move to any production models.”

“With a hefty 450hp V8, mounted to a 6 speed manual 4x4 system, This is a loadbearing, and work truck. This engine may or may not make it into the Production model. There is also going to be an SUV-based model, using the same Rugged underpinnings, which will be the new Atlas model. The two will look identical, with pre-production concepts to come soon.”

Seccond Interlude Track plays

“For our final item, we show the all new One Make Racing Package for the Specter. This has quite a few visual changes from standard, including new headlight housings, the removal of the main grill, the added vents and moved exhausts, and the removal of the Indicators and Reverse lights.”

“This will be available for any team to purchase, and is only eligible for the Vinson Specter One Make series, which have series on each continent. With a 251hp, 2.3L V6 at it’s core, but weighing only 851kg dry, this Fully carbon machine is made for competition racing.”

“I have been Ash, Chief Operations Officer and head of the Board. We at Vinson Dynamics thank you for your arrival here.”

Nitrex Motor Company

Even though Nitrex will no longer be creating any new vehicles, here’s a concept vehicle that would have been produced after the Imposer.

It was called the Hotti. This is the R trim. Other planned trims include S, Eco, and Eco S.

The front

The rear

The side

An angled shot, for perspective

And this one, with a black background

The Hotti concept was scrapped in favour of the Imposer, due to Nitrex’s low funds, as well as how much the Hotti R acted like a supercar, but one operating concept does exist. These pictures are of it.

This is the engine. It is a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V6 producing 525 hp and 467 ft/lb. It gets a Performance Index score of 320.
The Hotti’s speed tops out at 179.4 mph and gets from 0-62 in 3 and a half seconds. Thanks to its six-piston brakes, it goes from 62-0 in less than 30 meters. It also does the quarter mile in 11.5s at 121 mph. It was never tested at the track, though. It weighs 3045 lb.

Here is another concept vehicle which was put forward in 2012 which was the inspiration for the Imposer. It was called the Mosquito.

The front

The rear

The side
Little is known about this concept, as it does not physically exist. Obviously, there are no stats for this car either.

Here are a few other concept vehicles put forward by Nitrex designers way back when. The badges on these cars may vary from the Nitrex badge, as some of these cars were supposed to create their own brands.

Nitrex Rush (2006)

Nitrex Chimera (2009)

Nitrex Caballo (2016)

Nitrex Torpedo (2016)

Nitrex B9000 and B9500 (2016)

Nitrex thanks you for your time.

Welcome to the AL Autos Display!

The GT car. The epitome of performance and comfort rapped up into one car. Perfect for long distance driving as well as track munching. The CEO of AL Autos has always loved GT cars for this reason. His love for GT Cars inspired him to make some of his own.

Music starts

With us today, we have five new GT cars that we will be revealing over the next couple of days, starting with this one.

Curtains covering car rise

The AL Autos Alium 508 XLES

The Body

The body of the Alium was was designed to be an eye catcher that was a step away from “normal”: The exposed front wheels, the curves, the edges, the angles, the fixtures, etc. Striking isn’t it?

The Luxury

Inside the car, AL has put in hand crafted Nappa Leather seats, customizable interior lighting, leather trimmed dash, and AL Autos new ALConnect Infotainment System: A 11 speaker Bose sound system, Real time traffic satellite navigation, and AL’s WorldConnect which allows the user to see what attractions are nearby, make reservations at hotels and restaurants, check their favorite sports teams scores, check the weather + 7 day forecast, and so much more! With everything that’s in this car, you wouldn’t want to get out.

The Performance

Of course GT cars are nothing without the performance to accompany the luxury. Under the hood is a 3.9 L Twin Turbo Flatplane V8 engine churning out 508 HP. This combined with a 6 speed automatic transmission, a longitudinal AWD system, and an electric LSD allows the car to go from 0-62 MPH in 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 174.4 MPH/280.7 KPH. On the Top Gear test track, it clocks a 1:20.6. In short, this car is not slow.

AL Autos would like to thank you for joining us at this presentation! Look forward to the reveal of the rest of our wonderful machines as NYIAS continues!

##3 DAY ROUND UP

With Splendid Auto Monthly’s Gavin Anderson unable to commentate for the 2017 New York International Auto Show, we at The Racing Line Magazine were contracted to substitute for them. We hope to do just as well as a job.

3 days into the show, and there have been many promising releases.

WMD
has unveiled an 8 cylinder variant of the the CBX6 coupe, christened the CBX8. Powered by a naturally aspirated flat plane crank V8 that redlines just a hair under 10,000 RPM, the CBX8 is said to be a return to a much purer breed of sports car. Producing 400 horsepower from just a meager 3.2 liters, the CBX8 easily possesses one of the highest specific outputs out of any naturally aspirated motor. The mini club racer CBX4 instead gains a cheaper Inline 3 powered version, christened the CBX3. 120 horsepower may sound unimpressive, but in a 900 kg chassis and a manufacturer sanctioned one make race, you certainly could have lots of fun with it.

Shromet has pulled the covers off the 2018 Dragon, a modern resurrection of the iconic 70s sports car. Despite the old namplate, the new car is certainly no retro throwback. 650 horsepower is channeled through an all new 7 speed dual clutch gear box, ensuring milisecond shifts and zero to 60 times of just under 4 seconds, very impressive times for a front engine - rear wheel drive vehicle. With self leveling suspension and a state of the art interior, Shromet dubs it the ultimate GT car, but it certainly won’t be alone in competing for that title…

Cornaldie shows off the 2018 Veil Menace and Veil R. The Menace is a 2000 horsepower track only behemoth that laughs at the 1 HP per KG ratio with north of 2000 horsepower and 1651 KG and has posted a 1:50 time on the Automation Test Track. The R is the more docile road legal cousin with “only” 1600 horsepower and substantially more weight, however a 1:54 time ensures it remains one of the fastest cars on the planet. Unfortunately for the 1%ers who think 1000 horsepower is nowhere near enough to drive poorly on the track, all 50 models of the Menace have been sold out for a cool 3 million.

Himmel shows off a teaser ad featuring their familiar 490B, a promised 950 horsepower hybrid hypercar. It is expected to make a full specification release and Himmel has announced that it will begin taking orders later this week, at about $ 870,000.

AL Autos reveals the 1522 Delirus R, named after the amount of horsepower it makes, and the emotions it gives an unwary passenger under acceleration. With a curb weight of just under 2000 KG, this is certainly no stripped out racer, but kudos to anyone who can make a comfortable GT with a motor that wouldn’t be out of place in a WW2 fighter.

Zenshi takes off where the CZ6 left in a line of Japanese supercars with the Raizan X1. It is certainly quicker too, packing a twin turbocharged V12 producing north of 800 horsepower sent through all 4 wheels. This allows a 0-60 time of 2.3 seconds, capable of out running the likes of the Assoluto Crinale hypercar. But just look at how pretty it is. As usual from Zenshi, their Shinka design language strikes just the perfect compromise between edgy and subtle.

JHW has come out in full force, with their full 2017 line up all dressed up in white and sharing the distinctive JHW face. With all manner of cars from the $25K Xcel 3 compact to the 200 MPH Proteus supercar and the $230K Harrier Park-Regent, this is certainly a brand with no weaknesses in all fronts.

IMP reveals a brand new flagship, and brings along an old one. The 1987 Opera makes an appearance in all of its 80s glory, with 100% of its 80s Real Estate Mogul aura still intact 30 years on. However the real star of their stall is the L series revival, a nameplate reserved only to the most luxurious IMPs of history and last seen 41 years ago. The new L8 commands a 250K price tag and exudes class from every inch of its very large body, it probably comes with a pass to run over pedestrians who dare to stand between you and your chauffeur’s commute to your very legitimate and ethical billion dollar company.

Rennen unveils a shockingly pretty wagon concept named the Kartana. It is supposedly powered by the same 4.2 liter twin turbo V8 as other Rennens but features tech such as cylinder deactivation for better economy and performance. With an electric differential, carbon ceramic brakes and a top speed of 300 km/h, we’re not too sure whether it is more supercar or sedan, but is it such a bad thing?

Assoluto reveals promotional material featuring the Crinale hypercar, and promises a model release later in the week with replacements for the Fatalita, Ghepardo and Infinito.

Bonham releases the handsome Chaucer sedan, a proper British rival to the likes of the Erin Belrose. It is 100% old school sports sedan, featuring the correct 6 cylinder, rear wheel drive and stellar handling dynamics due to a double wishbone and multilink suspension set up. Bonham promises an all wheel drive and faster version in due time, but a proper manual seems to be what it misses the most.

Zast appears after a long absence with the Gorordo, a mid size 4 door sedan made to “blend in the city as a normal car” for some reason. Even comes with beige paint for extra stealth among the millions of uninteresting commuters on the road. Its powered by a punchy 260 hp 4 cylinder turbo, so there’s probably some sleeper potential in this geezer cruiser from the factory.

Airborne appears with a line up of oddballs in addition to their facelifted Orbit and Sunshine from the RZ sub brand. With artifacts of misery and the failure of communism such as the Hrvatska Sport to the epitome of opulence such as the Grand Illinois, their display certainly has everything for everyone.

Vision Dynamics has brought along a first generation Pilot sports car in perfect condition in addition to the Ogre-Atlas pick up concept and the one make racer variant of the Specter sports car. The Atlas is a certainly promising new comer to the difficult to break American pick up truck market while the Specter One Make Series is a must join for any racer looking for track experience in a fun and challenging racing series.

Rennen Kastana

Just as an FYI, the 1522 is part of the name but it’s meant to be a trim level. The proper name for the car is the AL Autos Delirus 1522 R

Just letting you know

@Deskyx That truly brought a tear to both mine and Gavin’s eye, that was excellent coverage indeed!

Welcome to Airborne Motor Group stand!
Today we’re going to present to you one of our more extreme projects that sadly haven’t seen the production approval.

2001 ND4SPD Concept

History

Story of this car begins in 1998, as Synth GT1 is released. It was classified as too good for racing (just like Skyline R32 GT-R), so it started only in one race and the race unit was hidden to today. This did not stop Airborne’s engineers however and they developed nearly identical street version (known as Synth GT1 Stradale) with complete interior, catalytic converters and quieter exhaust. The result is that all 11 cars that were made got sold in first hour of availability for astronomous charges.

Many people after then were asking Airborne if they’re going to look again on topic of uncompromisable supercars due to success of GT1 Stradale, however during 1999 and 2000 company haven’t spoken on that topic.

In late 2000, however, Electronic Arts found out again Synth GT1’s success and they offered Airborne a proposition: “You’ll create another iconic supercar, we will feature it in our next Need for Speed for 2001.”. EA wasn’t waiting too long for an answer, where Airborne agreed. Therefore development of project named Airborne ND4SPD was started.

The car was ready in mid 2001, when there was a working prototype of unnamed 2001 NFS. But, from that point, all things have changed. Electronic Arts had to stop development of the game due to extreme costs of cast, production and several problems with gameplay’s controversy.

Airborne ND4SPD was presented to public in various magazines, it even made to be on 2002 Geneva Motor Show. Airborne basicly had no name for it so it stayed with ND4SPD Concept moniker despite people suggesting names like Vibe, Comet, Annihilator or simply GT. CEO of the company during those years told people, that if ever ND4SPD was about to go into production, it would get Celestine GT name.

Another reason of not introducing ND4SPD Concept into production is fact that in it’s Concept setup it would run into reliability, overheating and safety issues due to pop up lights and engine pushed to true maximum. Also, according to Airborne’s CEO at the time: The Concept in real life is meant to be purely a show car that can go fast, if we were about to create production car, it would be ready in at least 2005. (those words were spoken in January 2003.)

Technicals

From technical side of things, ND4SPD Concept utilised Synth GT1’s powertrain strengthened by about 230-240 hp, increased redline and replaced hypereuctic piston material to low friction cast ones. It’s noticeably faster than Synth GT1 with top speed of 368 km/h and 3.3 second 0-100 km/h time.

Construction-wise, this car is made fully from carbon fiber, features pushrod suspension system, 50/50 AWD and downforce undertray system. The car, however, wasn’t fully finished due to fact that it was just a real life construction planned to be promotional car for new Need for Speed title.

Interior is covered with carbon fibre inlays, bucket alcantara seats, flocked dashboard, large racing-esque steering wheel with starting and indicator buttons + gear changing indicator. Features also premium CD player with GPS radio inside.

That’s all for ND4SPD Concept, see you later with another car from us!

The crinale just screams laferrari. Pretty quick too.

#Hand over that infinito, I WANT IT.

The whole lineup is not just faster, but also better-looking than ever post-revision… If I could only buy one of these, it would be the Infinito.

Intoducing the revised and facelifted Cornaldie Automotive Solatia V12 BiTurbo Ecoboost and Solatia V12 Biturbo Supertourer

The Solatia was well received upon it’s inital release for it’s smooth power delivery, efficiency and the ability to excel at being a well rounded gt cruiser. Numerous sources said that the styling was a little less than desirable, so we took all the feedback and gave this car a facelift, and man were we glad. This new design is much cleaner, subtler while being even more aggressive. The engine was made even more reliable with a few tweaks while delivering more power. We then decided that we could do even more with this platform to rival the like of the Bentley continental gt in delivering high performance luxury, and thus the Solatia V12 Biturbo Supertourer was born; a slightly more amped up version of the standard car which was by no means a slouch.

Edit: Thought the pics would been uploaded in order but they weren’t so sorry for the confusion.

2018 Zenshi GTZ 5.6R (Final Design Version)

The Zenshi GTZ based off the revised seventh generation GT was originally shown in the 2017 Detroit Auto Show as a prototype.

Now, for the 2017 NYIAS, Zenshi showcases the final version of the upcoming GTZ.

Naoya Odani, the designer of the Original GT way back in the 1960s, along with the current Zenshi design team, worked together to further enhance the looks of the new GTZ, now assuming the similar form of the recently released 2018 GT, sharpening the shinka design established in the front and adding more aggressive aerodynamics that aren’t just for show.

The GTZ will be powered by a Twin-Turbocharged 5.6L V8 known as the SY56-GDA2T, which generates a crazy 610 HP an 627 lb-ft of torque, all mated to a 7-Speed Manual Transmission. A version of the GTZ 5.6R, called the GTZ 5.6A, will be equipped with a 6-Speed AvanTech as an “automatic” alternative to the Manual.

Upon testing, the GTZ is projected to hit 100 KM/H in less than 4 seconds and possess a top speed of 306 KM/H (190 MPH). It has been reported that in the airfield track, the GTZ has achieved a lap time of 1:17.83.

The Zenshi GTZ 5.6R will come equipped with a handful of standard equipment, and will at a future date include options that are specifically oriented towards performance and track use.

The gauge cluster will be similar to the AIGCS (Artificially Intelligent Gauge Cluster System) seen on the higher trim GT models.

Having seen the definitive GTZ for the first time, I am pleased to tell you that it now looks and feels more like a proper supercar - because that’s exactly what it is! By the way, how did you make the rims black?

Simple photo editing, coloured over them, haha.
