I was reading a blog post about HD remakes of pixel-art videogames just now and it included a comment on 9-slice scaling for images with borders. It occurs to me that something similar might be a nice option for fixtures with borders, like the big rectangular turn signals.
It seems like something that would be complicated to implement (should the border not scale at all, or should the border scale proportional to the scale of the entire fixture?) and would add additional work for the designers of assets (there would have to be some standard to allow them to define the slices in their meshes), but if it’s feasible it seems like it would be a good addition to the game.
