A Few Small Possible Additions:

Just a (hopefully) simple suggestion relating to fixtures.

My idea is to add another tab to the fixtures section, called “Groups”. This tab would intern have a “Create New” section that would allow players to select multiple fixtures, creating a group. Players would then save these groups and would have the ability to select them from the Groups tab later to use them again. I thought of this because I was designing a luxury car in the Lite Campaign and I created the taillights so that they were a group of different taillight fixtures put together (and a piece of chrome from a mod). I want to put these on the next car I make, but that means I have to design them again and align them perfectly. I just think that this would save us a lot of time.

I quite like the sound of that. Or, it could be developed into some kind of a file system, so you could organise your modded fixtures or create design themes like you said.

Possible issue. Saving these groups would be local, right? If you then entered your design in a community challenge, wouldn’t the host need those same groups (which may or may not be made of mods they don’t have… thus destroying your aesthetic).

oh. i thought you meant the group, as in the frequently used fixtures in a group.

but you mean in the 3d modelling? i don’t think it’ll work. at least it’ll be really hard. and to make it fit to every single body available is kinda impossible too.

I don’t think that it’s about modelling - just saving relative positions of few already existing fixtures. In that form it would be also compatible globally, not locally, as the game would just create such group based on provided data. So the game saves for example “round headlight with rectangular indicator on the outer side, morphed to be square” and it would need only the same fixtures installed to recreate it on a different computer. But AFAIK fixtures’ positions depend on body and its morphs, so it would be hard to universally determine relative positions of fixtures.

Just to clarify, by “use them again”, I don’t mean have them be placed where you grouped them. I mean have them become a fixture that you can place on the same car or different ones. Thanks for the responses too. :slight_smile:

From what I understand he just wants a way to save a group of fixtures and their position relative to each other so it’s easy to re-use them later.

A simple example being a headlight within a vent that you can use as a foglight for all of your cars. Or one of those taillights made of many taillights that some people with more patience than me like to make.

Definitively a suggestion that could be interesting.

Yep, that’s exactly what I was going for. Thanks for properly explaining it for me.

We did play with that concept for a while and the idea was discarded due to the difficulty of implementing it, especially in the Kee engine. It is something we want to look into again for the UE4 version, but it is low on our list of priorities currently.
