About turbochargers

I KNOW that aspirated engines are far away, but i have been thinking about it a lot.

When creating a turbocharged engine. Are we allowed to decide the turbochargers size and boost pressure?

If so, it creates a lot new opportunities in the game(meaning you can really ruin an small engine with huge turbo.).

With it we can create very varying engines. We can add more power for the whole rpm or just to the higher rpms.

And is it possible to have supercharger and turbocharger in the same engine? :stuck_out_tongue:

Not sure if they’re going to do a twin-charger or not (or if it’ll be in a expansion). But for the moment the simple turbo, twin turbo or supercharger will be our options for boost.

Given the amount of detailed work they’re doing on every other aspect of the game, I would imagine they’ll let you change the size/boost psi

Im thinking you should include some blowers and headers to put on the engine and a redesigned hood to fit them.

What about using a turbo to increase efficiency? It would be great if your designing a family car.

In my head, you would be essential to include Boost pressure, turbo sizing, technology level (ceramic, ball bearing, etc).
It would be desirable to be able to directly modify the A/R ratio for both compressor side and turbine side.

And don’t forget about variable geometry turbos, and compound+parallel twin set-ups?
