Let’s try this again then…

Well, coming off the slower-than-expected QF1 Roadsters Of Romance, we decided to try and do something with a little more mass market appeal. I am sure it will get better from here. For now however, we will be having you make MY1986 Luxury Cars. No this isn’t a nod to anything in particular, you are just going insane.

Lets just cut the bullraisin and get into the rules. The higher-ups have told me that I in fact, cannot cuss. Raisinheads…

Get to the meat of things

It’s tossing and turning

We have read thru the feedback you have given us in our PM’s, in the threads and on our Discord Server, and well, it’s been a rough start :joy: The rules will be a little more lax this time, to allow you people to have an easier time, and to make shooting for those high scores a little more fun. Have a look at the rules below

Have a look

One in a Million

In this challenge, we are specifically looking for roughly fullsize cars. Country of origin doesn’t matter, what matters is that the body meets these requirements.

  • Model Year 1986

  • Can be either Sedan, Wagon or Coupe, no hatchbacks

  • Must have 4 or more doors

  • Total interior volume (cabin + cargo) should be roughly 3400L for sedans, and 4500L for wagons. You can sit a little below.

  • You must have some sort of rust-proofing on the chassis

And that is all there is to that. We are lenient on interior volume, as it is quite inconsistent at changing when you morph the body. Just make sure the car is large

Check 'em out

Easy come, but I think Easy Go

To further compensate for the mistakes of yesteryear, the engine building rules are very lax this time. You should be able to meet them With A Little Love.

  • Once again, set the year to 1986
  • Run 95 Premium
  • Min. Reliability is 60
  • Min. Smoothness is 65
  • Max noise of 37

  • F/I rules go as follows

  • Turbine-based chargers are limited to a max. compressor size of 65mm

  • Max allowed boost from a TC is .6 bar

  • Roots/Screw chargers are limited to a max capacity of 2000cc and a ratio of at most 1.4

Ok, go crazy go stupid. If you can meet the stats with it, you are free to run it.

To know you is to love you

Now for the part where we really thin the herd. The trim rules. There aren’t many, but they will make you have to compromise, or really know your raisin to do well.

  • Min. Drivability of 47, easy if you aren’t bad
  • Min Comfort of 40, again, should be easy
  • Min Reliability of 50
  • Practicality of at least 38
  • Must meet WES 7 Emissions standards
  • Can’t exceed 15L / 100 km fuel consumption
  • Min. safety of 45
  • Has to seat at least 5 people
  • Total PU shown as the RIGHTMOST NUMBER can be at most 105

You have $30000 approx. cost to play with
1400 max SVC
16 million total Techpool, no negative points allowed

You don’t need to be a Lucky Guy to actually meet these, just use your beautiful little heads <3

How it works and what you need

You can win, if you want

If you took part in either ABS-01P1 or ABS-QF1 you might already be aware of how things work here, but to those not in the know, please have a look thru the instructions below. They include how to enter, how we score your car, and what engineering stats have multipliers.

See Instructions

Sophisticated Lady

We run all entered cars thru a public style-vote poll. Best total score wins, simple as. We also ask some members for their personal favorites that we will then give a little stamp of approval, that wont affect score.

To ensure a good score, take flattering images of your car. You can ask others for help, even me if you trust my skills enough. Keep in mind that a public vote will be very unpredictable, so don’t get your testes in a twist over a low score.

Oh oh oh, little Queenie

As for engineering, it is a simple “more is better” matter. Higher stats means a higher score.

As for multipliers, well, here they are

  • Comfort, Drivability, 1.2x
  • Reliability, Safety, Cost, 1.1x
  • Fuel Economy, PU, SVC, Practicality, 1.0x

These multipliers seem strange for a reason, we are experimenting. Next time, they might work differently. Please give us feedback. We truly need it.

Living in Devotion

Ok, this will retread some old ground, but here is what you need to include in your entry to this competition, don’t worry, it isn’t a lot.

  • A .car file of your 'omation creation
  • Flattering pictures of your 'omation creation
  • If you want, a short description

And here are all the places you can enter, please choose only one

  • Into the thread, don’t worry about what to name the car
  • My PM’s
  • Or our Discord Server, which you should join

And that is it, happy competing. We put our Hearts and Souls into this stuff, so give us a little heart <3

The deadline for entries is 2 weeks from now, so 2025-06-16T21:00:00Z, we do give a grace period to account for timezones.

See the first comment for a little more info about our Discord and the competition. This one was made by Me, @Shitsoom, @Bulba, @Tom, and @Musicman27.

Just making sure, when it comes to techpool are we allowed to allocate the r&d budget however we want between all the specific parts as long as the total of everything is 16mil?

At least 4 full-size seats should also be fitted, but no more than 6.

Yeah, just don’t dip into negatives

Just as a BTW, we are looking for people to help us run this series, as certain…life events will take me away from the game for around a year. If you are interested, join the Discord.

If not, that is fine, but we do want to ask for a little feedback specifically regarding the deadlines.

Question is simple, is 2 weeks for a QuickFire too tight?

  • 2 Weeks is just right
  • 2 Weeks is a bit too short
  • 2 Weeks is way short
  • 2 Weeks is too long

1986 RennHart Bonneville Aero 6

[Article from a British car magazine in period]

Based on the 1982 “Aeroliner” concept car, the Bonneville is RennHarts attempt to increase sales in North America, a market the English sports car maker has always struggled in. Going so far as to name the car after an American landmark.

The Bonneville is RennHarts first saloon car, featuring a sleek, aerodynamic body designed in collaboration with the The Royal Blue Jet company. Thanks to this state of the art design the 5 seater is capable of cruising comfortably at well over 100mp/h and reaching a claimed top speed of 160mp/h, making it one of the fastest saloons ever made. The now aging straight six engine has been fitted with a supercharger, giving the Bonneville the much needed grunt to compete with its V8 rivals. The 4 speed automatic transmission is also a first for RennHart, though it isn’t of their own design. Same goes for the hydraulic steering system and adaptive suspension.

It is yet to be seen if the super saloon will appeal to the American public, especially the premium buyers who look for comfort above any sort of speed. The swooped back, futuristic styling, small displacement and sporty kick may doom the Bonneville Aero 6 to be yet another failed experiment by the ambitious manufacturer. But Alfons Hart, RennHart CEO and founder, remains confident in his unique creation.

I know this challenge is more focused on big land yachts, but as soon as I stumbled on the idea of an aerodynamic cruiser I couldn’t stop myself. It’s not exactly optimized for a high score, but we have fun here. This is supposed to be one of those market failures that are cool in concept, but you can’t tell who was supposed to buy it so it tracks.

Introducing The 1986 Lacota DaFinge ES!

A Comfortable cruiser for the whole family!

@Lil_Cretin , the moderation team has decided not to score our entries since they were the only 2 entries. Sorry. :frowning:

Yeah, sometimes things don’t pan out, our bad this time around.

We did however learn from our mistakes! Today we will release QF3, after which the timeframe will change, meaning QF3 will last a little longer to compensate. More about that in the post.

then we win by default!

Yes you do
