Adapt or die [Final scores posted]

You still have lots of time.

Another couple of questions;

  1. Can we submit the same car (and trim) for two different categories?

  2. Are there any limits on quality?

With how much I have learned from my submission to now. I think I would have completely different cars. I still look forward to the result.

yes you can submit the same car for multiple categories

No there is no limit on what quality you use, keep in mind higher quality means higher cost.

I’m gonna see if I can have something ready by tonight or early morning tomorrow…but I can’t promise.

I’ll just say…much as emissions are important…I’m going to take some penalties in exchange for costs and better fuel economy…while still running regular unleaded.

Would it be alright to submit multiple cars with say, different trims, such as specific fuel types?

As long as it is only one trim per category. Take your time, no need to rush.

I have a doubt in scoring system. Let’s say if drivability is important and sportiness is less important, it will be drivability1, sportiness0.75. However, due to the square root, actually it makes the drivability less important.

Example (luxury)
I score higher with drivability = 54 and sportiness = 25, but lower score when drivability = 65 and sportiness = 15.
but, if the score is sqrt(54)*1 + sqrt(25)*0.75, that would be different.

So I am wondering if I am getting the scoring method right?

All the square root means is that any equivalent incremental increase will tend to favour whatever score is already lowest.

So if you have the choice of adding 5 to something already at 50, or something at 10, in almost all cases its better to apply it to the 10.

The multipliers mitigate this somewhat, but not entirely.

All in all it just means that sacrificing anything *completely *is a bad idea.

It also limits going all out on one specific stat.

guess i have to redesign everything again, lol.

Sooo… submission deadline has passed?

yes, I had put such a long deadline that I had forgotten about it. That and things have been a little busy, now I cant even open the game.

I still have my entry (with help from Strop)…is it still too late to send it in? (though I may have to fix a few things to be sure it can be submitted)

First off sorry for the delay. I will try to get these out throughout the week.

So now that the first models are out after a rather drastic change in regulations lets take a look at the cars.

First up is the anchor class for the new regulations the often rather bland economy class where cheap and economical are the main selling points.

Ardent: At least you’ll be comfortable when you’re smashed to bits.

I forgot what this car was even like, does it even work with the new patches? I would need to find the zip file and put it back in the game. What I do know though is that this was from a time when I didn’t know how to build decent cars yet.

Nope, luckily I did the scoring as they came in. Now I have to make comments almost solely on what the scores were when I entered them. Some load but come out with widely different results than the original submission.

Well, Good to see pushrods can win in 2020

Next up another typically boring class. One that is more at home at home with Cheerios ground into the rear seats, small grimy hand prints on the windows, and who knows what stained on the upholstery. So with the new regulations did the mom-mobile become even more bland or were the auto manufacturers able to save some fun for the ride to and from shuttling the kids too and fro.

The least reliable and as picky about what it eats as its occupants
