Plot

Introduction: A Shattered Timeline

In the near future, humanity’s reckless experimentation with time travel has fractured the timeline, creating anomalies across history. Civilizations have merged, catastrophic events are out of place, and eras overlap in chaotic ways. Dinosaurs roam industrial cities, futuristic drones hunt knights in medieval forests, and glaciers encroach upon bustling metropolises.

You, a skilled driver and resourceful survivor, have been chosen by a shadowy organization known as The Continuum Keepers to restore the timeline. Armed with the experimental Power Object—a device capable of leaping through time and drawing energy from historical checkpoints—you and your car are humanity’s last hope.

The Power Object and Time Travel Mechanics

  • The Power Object: A glowing, enigmatic device integrated into or carried by your car. It activates time travel once it absorbs enough energy from specific checkpoints scattered throughout each time period.
  • Checkpoints: Mystical or technological energy sources tied to historical or natural phenomena (e.g., the eruption of Vesuvius, a Viking raid, a futuristic antimatter reactor).
  • Time Travel: Once fully charged, the Power Object launches you and your car into a random time period, with no guarantee of where—or when—you’ll land next.

Provisions and Habitability:

  • You can pack two small suitcases, limiting your survival tools.
  • Essentials include food, water, spare fuel, clothing for extreme climates, and repair kits for your car.
  • Collect resources along the way—hunt in the Ice Age, barter with merchants in the Renaissance, or scavenge in the post-apocalyptic future.
    Vehicle Design:
  • The car must be versatile enough to handle anything from dense jungles to barren wastelands.
  • It can integrate the Power Object or carry it externally, but the object is delicate and must be protected at all costs.
Summary

In order to set the universe back into the correct timeline you’ve acquired a Power Object, This means jumping through time with the aid of this Power Object, however! The time period is random. You and your car should be able to survive whatever time period is thrown at you, whether it’s the Ice Age, Dinosaurs, or the Apocalyptic Future.

Rules
Said object of power will be this fixture at this size:

image

You can find it in the 3d section, it’s a vanilla primitive.

It must be painted in a steel material (you can make it darker etc) included somewhere on the car, it can be integrated but must be visible from the outside. The object can be any orientation, flat, sideways etc.

Protecting/securing/shielding/decorating of the object is allowed but it’s structure must be obvious/easily locatable.

It may not be placed in the cockpit/greenhouse area (where the driver is) as it is hazardous to humans at that range.

You must also include two of these fixtures, at this size. This will be your luggage/supplies

image

These fixtures must go inside the cockpit area and may not be placed on the seats. It can be any material, any orientation. You are free to decorate/secure etc. That is all for those ones. It may also go in the bed of a truck, providing the bed has a cover.

Max hp must also be before redline

Electric and Hybrids
There is no way to judge this, there’s no way to replicate this, I won’t accept anything that claims it is and has some bizzare engine. Hybrid power is more understandable, so long as the total engine power matches what you say it has. eg 500hp V8, but in writing it’s 300hp v8 with 200hp electric power.
Do not make an engine with 500hp and claim it has an extra 200hp on top from electric power.

ATS
Allowed, any and all changes.

The challenge is on stable unless fixture bugs are fixed in the next patch

Rule Deliberation will be for 1 week+
if there are still questions/suggestions come the end, I will extend it.

Judging

starstarstarstar

Offroad
The actual stat
Let’s say you’ll be making your own roads most of the time

Performance Offroad
I’ll keep it simple by saying it is what you think, I will update this later with a more clear statement on how I will judge it.

Reliability
The last thing you want is to be stranded in the wrong timeline.

Aesthetics and Attention to detail
Small details are my personal favourite, I’m aware I’m asking a fair amount from the average player when showing the inspirations I have below, but I’ll appreciate the effort put in regardless.

starstarstar

Utility
As far as I’m aware this stat and anything related to it is broken, however some amalgamation of footprint, env res, practicality and anything else I see fit is probably how I will judge this. Suggestions open.

Safety
Preferably make it out in one piece, rather than several.

starstar

Performance on road
A combination of the performance stats.
This is more about punchy power (0-60) to get out of dangerous situations. Top speed won’t matter too much here, I don’t want 200mph semi trucks.

Cost
It’s a game, so who cares? The player of course, if this was about choosing a starter vehicle would you choose a cheaper one to upgrade later or blow all the budget on a top of the line vehicle?

star

Fuel Economy
The Power Object does double as a fuel source, however drawing too much power from this does mean it’ll take longer to charge up to jump timelines.

Realism
Now, the challenge isn’t exactly realistic but if I catch you building a military spec lorry out of carbon fibre you will be binned. If you have a supercar I expect supercar performance, say V8s-V16s (in line with what class of car this is) not a wimpy turbo I4, unless you have an extreme amount of lore to justify it I’ll probably still frown at it.

SVC
Similar to above, keep it reasonable. There won’t be huge penalties for having extreme service costs.

Comfort
Building offroad type vehicles often doesn’t lead to great comfort due to other priorities being greater, however it’s still a need.

Notes
4 wheels good, more is cooler. Lots of the inspirations have more than 4 wheels, I will implement a bonus of sorts for the more wheels you include. Not saying you should make a Tatra special 16x16 but you’d certainly get credit.

Now, rule discussion is open and probably will be for a while because I have no idea how I’m going to judge this “fairly” across a small supercars and big fuck off military truck. My guess is that a performance vs utility thing would come into it somewhere, but I’m probably going to need the CSV exporter to get a whole bunch of the F9 Lua menu hidden stat pieces that I want, I’ve had a look and there’s a few to do with offroad and base handling that I’d quite like to help judge things. Pain.

I’m more inclined to cut the small cars out, and just leave it to proper pickups and trucks but we’ll see. So, bumping min wheelbase to 3m. Really throwing a idea out there and seeing if it can be refined enough to be a good challenge.

I also have the V16 dlc so if any of the military trucks happen to have one, I guess go for it?

What am I actually building?
Challenge is set in “current year”, to clarify the timeline you are trying to get back to, is this one. Not any fantasy realm stuff, that said the year is slightly ahead, let’s say 2030+ not that it matters since you could have any car, a classic off-road truck, a new one, whatever. I don’t want things to be completely cyberpunk like. Camera windscreens aren’t a production thing yet (although close)

The luggage having to go inside the cockpit area I guess means that something like a box truck is out of the question, you must be able to reach it from inside the car, right?

I think the main thing is having these boxes protected from the outside, it could go in the “boot” of a car for instance it doesn’t necessarily have to be reachable from the driver seat or whatever. The various box trucks I put in the inspirations would serve both of the purposes well.

I just don’t want to say “cover/protect them” and have someone literally bolt it to the outside with a armor plate over it. If it’s “inside” the vehicle, like a truck bed with a cover then I’d say it’s fair game.

Do we need an actual interior done to fit in the boxes or is it simply to make it easy to judge cargo volume for the luggage?

I’d like to say interiors are semi required, at the very least I want to see how many seats you have and where they are positioned so you need to think about where the boxes can go. With how “proper” this challenge has become and the amount of time given I’d hope to get something lets say.

I’m not good with small details

for the name should we do the classic AGC38 - Username for model and family?

Yeah I’ll add that in, I wasn’t even thinking about that yet hahah

Other anomalies could lead to new, different timeline branches forming, or existing ones being overwritten from existence - but in the worst-case scenario, the entire space-time continuum could undergo a false vacuum collapse, effectively destroying the whole universe. Hopefully, the Continuum Keepers’ plan will prevent any of those from happening, in addition to removing all existing spatio-temporal anomalies.

aight thanks mate

and like uh entertainment wise I think it would be nice putting atleast like AM radio so they can talk with other units or sum but idk

I assume ATS is allowed given the type of build we are going for?

Yes, ATS is allowed.

Are you going to add environemtal resistance and cargo space as priorities? These stats seem pretty important.

Yes and no, they won’t be raw stats, but rather incorporated into a new stat I am creating which is essentially “offroad performance” and “on road performance” They will be important yes but let me figure out what bits go where. I will update it shortly

My vote is “no” for a wheelbase change BTW. Keep it a bit more flexible. It could be nice to see how a compact stands up against the behemoths.

what’s ATS?

Advanced Trim Settings. The gear icon on the left when in the fixtures tab. It lets you change things like tire size and suspension height without affecting the stats, lets you hide the chassis and engine, among other things

so, are fixtures like jerry cans or maxtrax on the outside allowed?

edit: another question

is building a sort of firewall out of 3D fixtures enough to count as not being in the cockpit?

So long as the two “suitcases” are where they should be I see no reason why you can’t decorate and include other features elsewhere. The other fixtures are not a direct replacement, you still need the two I’ve listed.

The main issue you will have with that is how is the fixture going to be visible from the outside still?

I don’t want people simply putting a box around the thing while inside the cockpit and claiming it’s shielded because that’s not the point. It’s meant to be hard to carry/protect and so your options would be more like roof racks, Ute/bed or box truck structure. I mentioned it can be integrated into the car and by that I meant like it can be semi inside the roof with a face pointing up and that is decorated. Lets say it’s needs air or something dumb to function.

If you’re unsure I guess you can show me but for now I’m going to say no.
