American Road Trip Challenge [finished]

It’s gonna get wider when the comfort challenge comes :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually, in the Laguna Seca track we have, the “real time” will be the sector 2 time (the flying lap time) , if I remember correctly so, it should be around 1:50.00 - 2:00.00
Because the total time in Laguna Seca track is the lap from stop + the flying lap, that’s why you see times from 3 and a half minutes to over 4 minutes.

If so, my actual time is 1:54 (from a stop)

Wow, ten places down in one day. If only one of these challenges involves hauling a boat trailer.

At least the Excel is decent at racing. Still, looks like unless the next challenges play directly into the strengths of the Excel, I’m still pretty much screwed.

Hmm, I pray for redemption, hopefully this will do it.

I think this’ll be another downfall of the Excel. Reliability, not one of the big things I focused on for this.

Oh No.
The Pegasus RSF has been outside the top 10 once so far, which was the 11th place on the drag race.
I have a feeling this might be worse. Every time a performance oriented challenge comes up, I despair.
The Reliability of the Hermit V8 engine is possibly worse than the performance.
At least I’ll know better next time.

right.

although, it’s a reliability battle now. and komodo is known for it’s above average reliability

##Challenge 7

The 3000 mile journey is over, and there is one property that has not been evaluated yet, but is probably the most important attribute of a car for such a long drive.

Score: Engine Reliability * 2 + Overall Reliability

Well, there goes any chance I had of finishing well. I seriously doubt the last challenge will play into the few strengths the Excel had, so I’m expecting to fall even further back than I am now.

hmmm race intake has cost me this round

This was one of those challenges that came around when I didn’t have enough time to put together an entry. However I can say that this format is very exciting to watch, and it seems that the championship is going to come down to the last event!

I think I’ve learnt that the Merna was a wee bit too sensible for this challenge. Still, it has been fun, and I hope that you consider doing this again in the future @asdren

If there is enough interest for another round, i might find the time to do one. Since it is my first challenge, i wasn’t sure how much effort and time it would consume, but now I can estimate it roughly. Next time probably with fancier challenges :), but this one is still going, so lets see who’s gonna win it

Damn koolkei! I should have put more quality sliders in my engine. This is really gonna come down to the wire. Even if the last challenge is comfort (it might not be), I don’t know if I will be enough ahead to pull out the win, especially if the KHT Monaco blocks the top spot from me

Thanks for running this one and I’d definitely be interested in entering another one.

wait… wut?
but why???
doing a cross country road trip on a race intake doesn’t see…
nevermind. i’ll move on

@phale i sure didn’t expect this. i said “above average” not top-of-the-line-indestructible-and-compete-against-the-toyota-hilux reliability rating. especially with a turbo on, i thought i would get quite a bit of penalty from that.

so would you say your face is going phale yet?
