Best strategy I can think of: Build a car you would want to drive across the United States, coast to coast. Make something that does a little of everything.
I hereby declare this challenge as open for entries.
Note: The Challenge1.zip has been updated once, so if you have downloaded it already, you might wanna check it out again.
Just working on some aesthetics. As said, my sanity-check car for your rules gave me a very good base to work from, and I’ve been tweaking and tuning for a little while.
This is gonna be fun.
If I get it right… I must to post a screenshot of the car here? And what is “ARTC_username”? I don’t quite understand
That is how you name your car in game. Than you export it via export function in sandbox menu and send that export file to host via pm.
EDIT: you can post pictures here if you want to show/present us what you made. It’s purely optional and for fun.
You don’t have to post a screenshot.
ARTC_username is the naming schema you have to use.
Here the example:
Thanks!
Head start alert!
I’ve made something rather unimaginative… But that’s what I really see myself drive for hours in every condition.
Smooth Belfaw
Features:
- Smooth looks without getting too much attention.
- Light but solid construction with AHS+Alu
- double wishbone all around
- 3.5 V8 with beautiful power curve
- RWD with LSD
- Sport compund tyres
- 7 speed dct
- hq sport interior with premium sound system
- aero optimizaton
- tunned progressive spring setup
What I’m trying to say is, Belfaw is fun, fast, relaxing… it’s a capable car. And that’s what I would want to drive.
Umm… I don’t think that meets the fuel economy requirement. Going for fuel injection instead of carburetors should help, you have the budget for it
Riiiiiiiiight… thanks Didn’t noticed that fuel economy was too high…
And increased horsepower
My car’s more based around what Luke would probably turn up in. In this case, a naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder powered car, sitting softly on double wishbone fronts and a multi-link rear suspension, with hydropneumatic springs and a 7-speed manual, pushing power through to all four wheels.
But, the Storm Excel isn’t your average city-car four-banger. Under the hood, a powerful 440 horsepower 4 cylinder engine roars through Luke’s hand-crafted exhaust. Displacing a little over 5.4 liters, Luke’s only quote about driving the Excel with this engine is: “At full throttle, it’s like driving a paint shaker. But, one can’t argue with the results of raw power, or that exhaust note.”
To ensure everyone else can’t ignore the exhaust note, the Excel was fitted with individual exhaust tips for each cylinder, allowing a surprising amount of noise to escape while remaining street legal.
With four premium grade seats and four doors, this former corporate cruiser remains comfortable, despite the modifications to design made necessary by putting the Mother-Of-All Four-Cylinder engines in the poor thing. The 7 speed stickshift, however, was entirely Luke’s idea. At 19 MPG, it’s still fairly fuel efficient, given what it has under the hood.
(And just for the benefit of those who don’t know, Luke’s the robotic CEO of Storm Automotive. His story hasn’t been written yet, but this should put some ideas in my mind for what exactly his personality would be like in a road trip. Right now, I can tell he likes big engines and AWD, but those were things I knew going into this.)
FOA have been waiting for this to be opened for entry.
We’d like to present the Countryman.
Powered by a 4 cylinder, 2.9L, direct injection turbo charged engine.
Producing 232hp @ 6100rpm. This powers the AWD system through a 6 speed manual transmission. We’ve included a manual locking diff and steel rims…just in case you want to drive somewhere other than tarmac.
Top speed is 153mph, with 0-62 of 6.4seconds.
Good drivability, comfort and very safe.
Oh yes, 38 mpg for fuel economy so you don;t need to rob a bank to fuel it.
It’s also so very quiet that you could probably do some cattle rustling with it and not get noticed. The folding rear seats mean you’d be able to get a whole cow in there…and STR rear suspension would handle it all beautifully.
Megacorp has something just for this… the 2016 MFC1 SPWA-6N, a premium and sporty AWD wagon powered by a 2.8L turbocharged V6. It has decent fuel economy, decent sportiness, good comfort, drivability, and reliability, and great safety and practicality. At $22,100, it’s quite a bargain for all the included features… especially the futuristic styling. Boring midsize cars belong in the past.
In 2016, Danver co-released their flagship muscle car, pickup truck, and twin-turbocharged DOHC V6 by the code name 5C-GE. For this all-American challenge, naturally we at Danver would choose our latest pickup truck: the age-old Hijack. In HJ4000 trim, the crew-cab Hijack has a twin-turbo 4-Liter V6 with over 400 Horsepower. Starting at under $23,000, the Hijack is fun, frugal, and hauls all of your utility needs.
Bell Automotic are barging in with a fun little economy car, it is comfortable and was designed and built by our Japanese branch.
This fun little hatchback is a driving piece of bravery, this is what happens when you have an artist get involved with the designing of your JDM cars (we are testing if this car is suitable for the USA)
I’ve always had a soft spot for estate cars. Mystery challenges only made the choice easier.
A four wheel drive midsize all-rounder with Premium comforts and a 3l NA V8 producing slightly over 300hp.
I built something a little out of my comfort zone for this challenge, hope it all works out in the end!
Hopefully I submitted in time…
V8. twin turbo. Minivan. I think that’ll sell reasonably well in the USA
Buy better, buy Bogliq!!!
Pearlite presents the 2016 Pearlite Volara, our entry-level grand tourer.
The Volara is powered by a 5.2L V12, yes you read that right, a V12, producing 450HP and accelerating the car from 0-60 in just 3.6 seconds. It can do a quarter mile in under 12 seconds and has a top speed of over 200mph.
In addition to its superior performance, the Volara is a surprisingly versatile car. With AWD, large tires, and an optional manual locking differential, the Volara handles rough road conditions very well. It features a spacious interior made with premium materials, plus a super smooth and quiet ride thanks to the engine and suspension. And despite all of that, the Volara is remarkably economical, with 31mpg and a starting price of $35000 ($25000 with 40% profit).
Personal comments: Thanks to Sillyworld for the awesome body. Honestly I have no idea how I was able to fit everything into the budget. In addition to the V12 I also have active aero and quality sliders everywhere (+12 tires), lol
