Assetto Corsa Challenge - New round - GTR GT3 on Road America!

RIP many Larrys :frowning:

Just like real life

Yep. Just like this one…

My particular favourite:

The Renault wasn’t even approaching vaguely the right line :joy:

FAAAAK
I did a 8:34 and then promptly went to do another lap, crashed, and hit restart session forgetting that it would be overwriting the previously done laptimes
:sob: :gun:

Sorry no screenshot for that lap, I do have the last one I did

Will you guys accept my result or not? I won’t complain or hold anything against anyone if you say no.

I gave it a try as well on street tyres without driving aids and a Thrustmaster T500 RS.

Had some screw-ups at Adenauer Forst, Kallenhard and Schwalbenschwanz and was overly cautious at the end. It generally looks a lot faster from the outside compared to the cockpit view. There it felt quite controlled except for the mistakes.

@strop Damn you’re fast with a damn mouse  I’ll probably give it another shot at some point. Somewhere I’ll find 0.066 seconds

With what software do you record this? As soon as I start OBS I have huge lags in Assetto

Also, Assetto keeps crashing since Battlefield told me to update my nvidia graphics driver, gotta revert that :poop: Only managed 2 full laps I couldn’t inbetween the many, many game crashes, and lost the laptimes through a crash afterwards  Both times were over 9 minutes though.

I recorded with MSI Afterburner, but I didn’t record my actual lap but only the replay.

I may give this a go on Forza 6 over the weekend since I don’t own assetto corsa. I wonder how similar the times would actually be between games.

I can say this much: I will guaranteed not be quick on the Nur because of all the practice I’ve done in GT4. As odd as that sounds, the lines that you take in that game are totally different because the camber and elevation changes in AssCo are totally different, plus the dynamic surface conditions aren’t simulated. Those lines have become a habit for me and are really something that will take me time to recondition.

Hhhhh that’s awful Close. If not for those errors… It’s clearly too close. Maybe I should go back with the G29…

Edit: @Der_Bayer finally reviewed the video, nice driving. All those mistakes were mostly single corner, short segment running on the inside of the kerb which would have wrecked your line for that corner. Maybe it cost you up to a second total. But I notice in the fast corner sections you go significantly faster, which is to be expected because many corners I had to lift off completely or suffer terrible oversteer (which I did on my first attempt where I decided to have some fun and really hang the tail out).

If you fixed those errors and I drove with the wheel it would be close.

ahahaha unrelated, but I’ve been trying to drift the murderous RUFs and this happened

:joy:

Lol I think squidy is gonna cry when he sees that.

Was it the awd or red version? I love drifting both, maybe I’ll put something up later

it was the RWD one :joy:

Also Black Cat Country is the best track for huge smoky sideways.

I actually prefer the Short version.

I’m currently doing a couple laps for this on forza and wow does this thing go through fuel. I can’t even complete 3 laps without running the tank dry.

P.S. my fastest lap right now is a 8:12.165

In Forza? If that was in AC on street tyres I would be worried, I’d have to drive very bravely if I were to match that.

Is it just me or is handling in Forza a bit sticker on general than it is in AC?

I havent experienced AC but based on the fact you thought this was a very oversteery car then yes I would agree as I find it to be quite understeery. The only time I an get it to slide is when I’m partially on the grass or in 2nd gear booting it like an idiot.

Yeah the car in AC cam easily get the rear out and sideways with a bit of a bump, careless steering and plenty of throttle upwards of 200km/h. My experience with Forza in general is that the sim has been very forgiving at high speeds with the downside being if you do try to initiate high speed drifts it’s very very hard to control.
