I accept untill the 30 th - in general.
And well, if a submission comes on the 1st and the reviews are not published yet, then I ll quickly run it over the 6 tracks and everything is fine. I guess there wont come any large article before 2nd.
I am working on something based on my 1955 BRC entry using the 265 small-block Chevy motor.
Decided to make a second car just for the fun of it and now I’m much less confident on the handling of the gremlin. I was able to make a car with more power(slower straight line speed though), better brakes, and can do 1 G in the corners.
so just to be clear there is no rule limiting the amount of negative sliders? ie -10 body, -10 interior etc
Pending scrutineering, this will be the Bogliq entry for this race series
Good luck everyone!
Buy better, buy Bogliq!
It’s not in the first rules post yet, but CMT did say Safety and Interior must be 0 quality. Sounds like negative sliders are acceptable elsewhere.
Exactly this is it.
I laughed when I read the large FAQ/advice write-off about being the rules the most difficult for contests.
Now I don’t laugh anymore. It really is the hardest part if you want to avoid confusions and to treat everyone fair.
I survived the first wave of the revision flood, but was not able to check the cars yet, as I am travelling through half the country today.
The Bogliq is beautiful and almost an economy car regarding the mileage. I actually forgot that August has 31 days instead of 30 - so you have even still 3 days to test anything. Well, except for Storm (I do not find anything to improve and that car goes like hell) and me, I even finished my 1958 car yesterday.
next seasons challenger from me will be…erm…something
As I did not even publish the rules yet (there will be some marginal changes) there is no chance for you to know what would be clever to build.
Such things I ll post after the 1956/1957 season is finished, otherwise it would just lead to even more confusion.
Some small advice. Use post 4 for each seasons rules and regs as well as a list of entrants u have downloaded and make certain in the topic post to say this. When writing the rules simple bulletpoint works best do not try to over explain choices and keep it linear, body rules, engine rules, trim rules, stats rules. Decide now whether to use open or closed beta and stick to it. And be certain to have all steam mods. A folder dedicated to entrants helps with keeping ur game clean and competitors away from ur created cars
and finally i would not limit tyres or intake choice as these are racing vehicles
Just out of curiosity how well do everyone’s cars handle? And are they front, mid, or rear engine? Mine is rear engine and only does about .75 Gs in the tests.
Front engine, and somewhere around .75 in the corners.
well its nice to know the car I entered isnt too far behind the competition in terms of cornering, I was a bit worried when I threw together a second entry just for the fun of it and it was doing about 1 g in the corners.
I Threw a third car together and my main goal for it was to make a semi-competitive car that meets the requirements and most importantly is not hindered by the addition of a phonograph and I am happy to say that if you use the smallest 50’s body with a -15 quality slider and fiberglass panels a V8 and a phonograph you are able to just barely meet the minimum weight with some relatively fat tires and good cornering… just a little something to think of if someone new plans on joining
Thanks for the good advice, I guess I will consider that for the next season.
Anyway, until tuesday I’m travelling through Germany with my oldtimer, so I have to apologize that I can’t do anything on the PC, as I am writing via smartphone.
BTW half Germany was on the road today, as they drove back from the coast, especially the Berlin people. Spent four hours in a traffic jam where I had prevent my car from overheating…
Windows down, heater on full blast, point the vents outside. My dad called that the “auxiliary radiator”
Yes, and I opened the hood a little, as often seen on VW beetle running over the alps (that just works with maximum throttle) towards Italy and on NSU TTS while flooring them, you’ll rarely see one on a race track with closed hood.
Entry made…this should be good fun!
Let’s show the cars approved - for three ones, I had to put up the cooling a little, as all cars must have the minimum required. My car was among those three, as I did some changes on the Indianapolis, and the modified engine urged for more fresh air, which I did not notice until the final check.
Spool A: A small car with an engine of the biggest size allowed. What a cannonball!
Petoskey Indian: This is a souped-up cabbie which squeezes the most out of a rather low-end pushrod engine. Fascinating, tough, as built with relatively low budget by a taxi company with a lot of help by manufactor Petoskey.
Jericho GTR: Being comparable with the Spool, it has a smaller engine, which maybe helps handling. It accellerates like hell. 949 instead of 950kg weight is still close enough for me btw.
Waldlock Journeyman: A van in race trim is something unique. But to not underestimate it: Track performance is stunning, and not only for a van!
Goblin: It looks british, but it drives quite american with the 5,5L V8. Although having a lot of weight on the rear axle, it seems to be a competetive exotic car.
CMT Indianapolis: They took a comfort-oriented sports car, threw out everything not-essential and race-tuned engine and suspension. That car is made for winning.
Storm Deluxe Racer: They bought the predecessor of CMTs Flat8Sport, the 10-year-old Iron Pig, in 1955. What they made with this engine deserves applause. It also has the richest trim offering more comfort than all the others. That is what we call racing with style!
Bogliq Hare Sport: That beautiful car is the only car not having a V8 engine at the moment - and it doesen’t even have 6, it is a 4000ccm inline four, the weakest engine in this season! But that quite special layout performs surprisingly well in this car, and it is one of the most economic racecars ever seen yet.
By the look of that, I think you broke the rear wing off of my car.
