my '58 idea is…erm…big?

For the 1958 season, I introduce the Scapelli GT 408.

No Petoskey this time?

…is that a convertible pickup truck?! either way convertibles weren’t allowed in season one, they probably wont be for season 2 either

Yes, that is what I am thinking about atm.
I am a bit unsure if I should abolish that safety rule.

SUMMARY AND RESULTS SEASON 1, YEAR 1 (1956)

This is February 1956 and we are currently attending the first ATC race in Monaco, and the stands are full with petrolheads! The cars are rolling to their start positions… there are many different cars, you can hear the special sound of the Bogliq Hare, which is the only car having an l4 instead of V8s as well as the dirty rumble of the Petoskey Indian, a hotrod taxi. But what to we hear here? BILL HALEY! It is coming out of the Storm Prince Deluxe, and Deluxe obviously is just not the name, it has a premium AM radio that play’s some rock n’ roll! The music rips the spectators off their chairs and… well, I guess the seating has to be renewed tomorrow.
The lights switch to green aaaaannnnd here they go! Two cars are seperating from the field, they propably will be the only candidates for the win… on 1st the Jericho, a car with a weight of 950kg and 310 hp! In close distance behind, the G+C Jefferson that weights a little more and is more capable of putting the power to the ground, but the Jericho reaches higher speeds earlier after approx. 60 kph.
There is even a van in the field, but in the narrow streets of Monte Carlo, the driver feels like a fish in the dry. Directly in front of the Waldlock Journeyman is the taxi which has the same problems, driving almost identical times. At the end of the field, there is the Storm, but there is no revile by the audience, as that car still plays rock n’ roll!

Results:
1st Jericho (7P) 128,56s
2nd B+C (5P) 129,34s
3rd Spool (3P) 135,24s
4th CMT (2P) 136,10s
5th Goblin (1P) 138,97s
6th Flyer 140,66s
7th SME 141,46s
8th Indian 142,18s
9th Waldlock 142,27s
10th Bogliq 144,41s
11th Storm 147,18s

Some months later, we can not await the start of the second race in the streets of Detroit, the home of American Motoring! Still a layout that helps smaller, better-cornering cars a lot! But we will see, what happens, as the lights go off NOOOOOWWWWW!
It looks like the results will be the same as in Monaco, but wait! The CMT attacks the Spool and passes! But the Spool conquers it 3rd position back, re-overtaking from the inside of the corner! What a slugfest between these two cars! But wait, where is the Waldlock? The van drops parcels off at local stores! I hope there is nothing fragile in the boxes. The van actually overtook the one or other car, now racing on 6th behind the Fahrzeug Flyer! At the end of the field, the Bogliq lost the battle against the Storm. The Bogliq driver has more to focus on the car not spinning than everything else and can not keep up with the field. But it is still the Jericho that leads them all.

Results:
1st Jericho (14P) 140,88s
2nd B+C (10P) 141,09s

5th Flyer (1P) 152,90s
6th Waldlock 153,78s
7th SME 155,64s
8th Goblin (1P) 155,75s
9th Indian 156,85s
10th Storm 159,57s
11th Bogliq 185,90s

Two weeks later, we are still in the USA! Now we moved to the legendary Indianapolis speedway, where it is all about power! Maybe the chance for the Waldlock with the strongest engine, but aerodynamics are bad. CMT wants a podium position, as their car is named after that holy shrine. But after the start, everything went as usual, Goblin and B+C Jefferson are outstripping the rest, and the Spool constantly moves away from the again 4th-placed CMT. The Flyer is slipstreaming the Goblin and there is constant overtaking between them, but in the final lap it is again the Goblin that made it.

Results:
1st Jericho (21P) 78,44s
2nd B+C (15P) 79,97s
3rd Spool (9P) 80,43s
4th CMT (6P) 83,34s
5th Goblin (2P) 84,32s
6th Flyer (1P) 84,55s

8th SME 88,86s
9th Indian 89,22s
10th Storm 89,59s
11th Bogliq 89,92s

Year 2, final results and team results will be published soon.

Nicely commentated CMT!
Congrats to both makers of the Jericho and B+C - those light little cars are killer on the track!
Such a varied field too. Very cool.

You see these flowers? Yes, it is already spring. It’s time to continue the ATC, now in Spa-Francorchamps, a very challenging track for the bravest of the brave.
We all thought, the unique layout made positions change this time. But all audience except the Jericho fans were disappointed, as the results were identical to Indy’s. The only real tension was, as in Indy, the battle between the Goblin and the Flyer, as these cars have nearlly identical performance. This time, it was extremely close between Jericho and Jefferson, so after half the race it was still not sure if the Jericho wins again. But 5 laps before finish, it was obvious that the B+C won’t make it.

Results:
1st Jericho (18P) 207,09s
2nd B+C (20P) 207,64s
3rd Spool (12P) 214,25s
4th CMT (8P) 218,32s
5th Goblin (3P) 223,09s
6th Flyer (1P) 223,30s
7th Waldlock 225,89s
8th SME 229,94s
9th Indian 230,37s
10th Storm 234,56s
11th Bogliq 238,01s

In Monza, we had few spectators. As we use the 10km layout that was opened in 1955, we had an oval again, combined with the traditional track. Everyone thought it will be the same results as in Indy. Will it? Let’s see. In the 3rd lap, the Spool passes the B+C in the oval… and keeps its position! The Spool even slipstreams the Jericho in the first laps. But the Jericho is getting a little out of range, too bad. That could have been a sensation! The CMT is too far behind to profit from the battle among the first three, but seperates from the Flyer on position 5. Again a battle betwen the Flyer and the Goblin, and it is the Flyer this time that puts through. Astonishingly, the Waldlock stays relatively close behind and leaves the SME far away, which is followed by a surprisingly strong Storm that overtook the Indian. Too bad there was not again Bill Haley on the radio, so the driver had to deal with Edith Piaf. He looked not that happy with it.
The Petoskey taxi lacks top speed, which was not the problem in Indy, as the top speeds reached in Monza are actually higher. A shame that the Bogliq is last again. Theoretically, on the paper, it reaches 257kph, but it takes ages to reach that speed, in reality the Hare Sport runs nearlly out of power at 220kph and makes each 20 seconds just one more.

Results:
1st Jericho (35P) 195,53s
2nd Spool (18P) 196,26s
3rd B+C (23P) 197,21s
4th CMT (10P) 203,58s
5th Flyer (2P) 206,8s
6th Goblin (3P) 207,52s
7th Waldlock 209,18s
8th SME 215,47s
9th Storm 217,45s
10th Indian 219,72s
11th Bogliq 224,03s

What track can be better for a finale than the most legendary and difficult of all time? Well, none. So here we are in the German Eifel at Green Hell. Well, the Jericho is already confirmed as overall winner, but will it make the strike and win all 6 races? Let’s see.
In lap 2 of 11 it actually happens! The B+C Jefferson passes the Jericho at Bergwerk and leaves the Jericho behind! The Spool has no chance to keep up, but the CMT neither.
We all suspected in Detroit, that the Goblin’s handling in (especially rectangular) corners is not the most refined - here at Green Hell it is clearly to see, as the car can not use its maximum power without being out of control. The Flyer gratefully uses that situation and passes for the last point to get. Even worse, the Waldlock follows the Flyer passing the Goblin. But the rest of the field lacks the power and has no opportunity to attack the Goblin. Left behind is the Bogliq, with a combination of lackluster power and critical oversteer.

Results:
1st: B+C (30 Points) 529,50s
2nd: Jericho (40P) 534,89s
3rd: Spool (21P) 543,21s
4th: CMT (12P) 558,22s
5th: Flyer (3P) 569,68s
6th: Waldlock 573,71s
7th: Goblin (3P) 575,85s
8th: SME 587,37s
9th: Indian 591,20s
10th: Storm 598,52s
11th: Bogliq 631,61s

So the Season 1 champion is
JERICHO with 40 Points reached, the second place B+C with 30 Points and a remarkable third SPOOL with 21 points.
Scorers were CMT with not-bad 12 points and the Goblin and Flyer with each three.

So well, today’s evening I will find out if the Goblin or the Flyer was faster, adding all times dividing through six. And I will post the team results then (there were some strange combinations).

nil points. damn.

well, always '58 to aim for

Oh, don’t be disappointed. You missed them really close and not to forget your car was a fucking van! I guess keeping in mind this is a van, you did quite well.

i always kinda knew i’d be scraping the barrel, but thats kinda what i do. aim for the moon in a trabant 601

I need to creat a new company so I can compete lol. Il try to get in this season. Il have to buy some bodies from bogliq

I am just astonished that the results are that boring. But the time gaps of Nürburgring and Detroit City show some parallels, which I never ever thought. Seems like these two tracks have something in common.

Too bad the Bogliq failed that hard, over 10 minutes on Green Hell. But that car has such a classic design and a really unconventional engine, I guess it’s enthusiast’s choice. I wonder why the Bogliq bet the Storm quite clear in Monaco, where it even keeps up quite well.

Ehh I’m okay with finishing 5th, I kind of expected worse after making a second car just for fun and it being so much better in the corners, I’m more confident for this second round however.

I’m just stoked I got a second place finish!

Let us know when the deadline for the next season is when you can.

Deadline is the 7th, as I guess you need a week for building a decent car.

As CMT has a German CEO and founder, they established an equal German division in 1955. Well, I am not sure if GER or USA engineers feature their car for '58. Both cars are state of the art in their decade, offering all what can be offered in engineering. Meanwhile the Autobahn is the European flagship, the Astrona is placed between the midsize Nestor and the luxury liner Enterprise, offering more conservative design than these two Art-Déco-cars to underline the serious approach and concept.

Introducing the Orc, the big brother of the goblin equipped with a bigger engine, bigger chassis, bigger tyres, and better cornering. It however keeps the British look but American driving that characterized the goblin.

Looks good. The Goblin was not a bad car, so maybe this further development allows for better cornering. We will see soon in Season 2.

Just laughed so hard as I saw how ugly the CMT Autobahn actually is compared to the Bell Winchester.

I’m gonna blame the poor finishes of the Prince on the broken rear wing.

As for our 1958 season… Well, to attempt boosting the lackluster sales of the Trooper, we’ve stripped one down, pulled the engine out of the Prince and rebuilt it, and then shoehorned it into the engine compartment of what was once a really comfortable van.

Designed with fewer fragile aerodynamic components to avoid the loss of yet another wing, the Trooper is a heavy, still-mostly-comfortable flying brick. Other drivers, beware, as this big steel box can take a beating.
