Automation Lemons Time Attack Challenge! [RESULT]

Hey guys!

I’ve been secretly planning this challenge for quite a while, I’ve been running some tests with fellow Automation IRC. And I know that it’s excellent as it is already. I’ve always wanted to run a race akin to 24 Hours of Lemons. But because BROBOT system is not really for some dude that do not own the Beta version. As the program use some of the boolean strings that is only available to beta tester. I will have to settled for a TIME ATTACK!** event.

In order to simulated the depreciation that is the main reason 24 Hours of Lemons can operate as is. I have came up (or rather, ask Leo to came up with) a system that essentially is “The older the car you make, the more money you can spend on it.”. There’s no simpler way to explain that. But the formula can be quite complicated for some people. But I’ve covered that as well with the rule!

RULES!

Rules will be strictly adhered to. But other than these rules, you can do whatever it is you want! Minicar with AWD, Swedish Metal Brick with much boost and lag, Luxobarge with complete interior and OHV V8. It doesn’t matter! As long as you pass inspection, and submit the car right. You can compete!

I also encourage to make your car realistic, awesome, realistically awesome, and awesomely realistic!

-Budget has to be calculated using this formula.
*11000-((techyear-1945)85)
So for the example, if you choose the tech year to be 1995. You get the budget of 6,750$. If you choose the tech year to be 1975, your budget is 8,450$. This is for total cost, obviously.
-The Car and Engine tech year must be the same.
-For every 10$ you go over your supposed budget, you get 1 BS Point, which will be deducted from your total point.
For the example, if you choose the tech year to be 1995 and you get the budget of 6,750$. But in MY game it appears that you spend 6780$ for some reason or another. You’ll get 3 BS Points, so if your total point is 82, your actual point is 79, and ranking will be adjust accordingly. I’ll round up everything as well, so if you get the budget of 6,750 but spend 6,750.02, that counts as a 10 and you get 1 BS Point, NO EXCEPTION.
-For your car to pass safety inspection. Safety must be above 25.
-For your car to stand a chance of completing the track. Engine reliability must be above 10, Avg. Reliability must be above 0.
-I will accept NO revision at all in this race.
But it’s pretty hard to get a DQ when you can only fail with not passing the safety inspection or having your car melted during the time attack.
-Custom badges and any mods by VMO is not allowed. Latter due to cheating cooling and former due to being generally a pain in the arse.

Submission
If you’re illiterate, do not compete this challenge. Or even attempts to send in a submission.
Use the in game naming system, name your 4 files as.

ALTA-[username]-car-model
ALTA-[username]-car-trim
ALTA-[username]-engine-family
ALTA-[username]-engine-variant

If your ingame files aren’t looking sorta like this. Then you know you have some problem.

If you name the files wrong by accident, I’ll give you a chance to send 1 revision. But if I decided that you name the files wrong by being stupid or trolling, I’ll send you a strongly worded letter instead. If you’re not okay with the strongly worded letter you can send a complaining letter to Killrob. If I’ll be honest, I don’t give a damn. This is just a way to stop the thing that killed so many good challenges before. Use common sense or get strongly worded letter.

And don’t forget to put the username, car name, and nationality in the PM that include the zip of the 4 files. If you don’t I’m free to come up with anything for you.

By the way. Minicar body is cheating, don’t make other feels cheated!*

*Not that I care, it is allowed. You of course can make anything, including the Minicar.

Looks like I’m first in on this competition so here goes nothing!

Presenting the 1983 Bogliq Kitten RallyCross!!!

My driver wanted the “86” version but we accidently purchased the “85” edition instead! :ugeek:  :sunglasses:

So in the secret test, my car was a nice average jack of all trades but didn’t have enough power to bring it to the top level. Now the major kinks have been sorted out of the game mechanics, it’s time to revert to my old form of POWAAAAAAAAAAAAAH :smiling_imp:

My secret test car was rubbish really… I think its time to drop the L-series engine and do some mad engine swap…

How does the tech year formula work if your engine is newer than the chassis?

I suggest you make them the same year, as the last time I remember if the tech years are different, it’s still buggy.

EDIT: I’ve asked around, and apparently I’m right. It’s still very buggy. The rule is updated accordingly.

A Znopresk lemon is on the way!

Gah, no K24-swapped CR-X.

I’ll have to actually be imaginative this time around.

You can however, make a decent-ish H22A swapped CRX for 7005$ in 1992.

Is the microcar allowed but frowned upon?

Ooooh yes, it’s allowed. But it’s very very frowned upon because in the secret test there are so many of them for some reason.

Well ahead of you, good sir.

Currently seeing if I can squeeze a H23A swapped Odyssey into the budget.

Let’s just say that when the budget is low, expenses due to bodywork does actually take up a sizable proportion of the budget, and the ability to fit wider tyres and a larger engine is largely moot (and drag, too, is also largely moot). It’s for all those reasons I deliberately steered away from that body in the secret test!

For real life Lemons Race, a car under certain wheelbase needs special permission from the judge to run in the race. You have to ask the organizer first before you can use something ridiculously small. It’s all for safety purposes which of course is also mooted because 25 safety is very very low, Minicar can do it very easily.

I discouraged it mainly because I don’t want all the cars to be the Minicar, which was the case with the test run.

Maybe I don’t need to do this at all, as the best cars in the test was not even the Minicar.

btw just in case, how long was the wheelbase of this aforementioned minicar? To be sure we’re talking about the same body!

The FATI 126p Minicar. 1.9m wheelbase of glory!

I’ll be much happier if there’s somebody who’s going to send in a Pyrlixbus with it’s 4.6m wheelbase rather than having a gajillion 126.

Ì just realised I could do something with one of the lesser used mod platforms of this game… in its original glory too, huehuehue

The Not-Panda? I was thinking about that one

Everything that you should know about the rules is the cream big letters and the part about naming the submission files.

any fuel goes? do we have to use Catalytic converters?
