Automation Touring Championship(Race 1 of 4)

Automation Touring Championship

The Automation Touring Championship (ATC) is a challenge series based on IMSA and Australian Supercars. Cars will be built according to a specific ruleset, or formula, and raced against each other inside of automation. The first season will be comprised of only one class, GTA (Gran Touring Amateur.) After the completion of the first season, a second class will be added. Each season will be comprised of 4 4-6 hour long races, as well as a 12 hour inaugural round.

New Information!

Now that the rules deliberation have ended, it’s time to go over a few things.

[New Info]
Going over the soft price limit may result in a time penalty every race, under my discretion. Going over the hard limit will result in either a large time and performance penalty, or just an outright bin.

You will be running two entries. You may re-submit your car once, and you must re-submit it before submissions close.
[New Info]

First of all, there are a few stats that will dictate how well you perform. Drivability, Sportiness, Prestige, and Reliability are key due to their affect on lap time and pitstops. I’ll go over why these affect you in just a second.

The format will be run like this: A “testing session” will be held, which will reveal raw pace without any multipliers from the stats, and the results will be posted. Then, a practice and qualifying session will be held. This time, Drivability, Prestige, and Sportiness will affect lap times. Then, the race will be run. The length of races will be announced at the same time the tracks are revealed.

Here’s some insight on how race time is calculated:
Drivability: Drivability directly factors over to how easy the car is to control. Higher drivability decreases mistakes made.
Sportiness: Sportiness will dictate how much laptime to add or subtract per lap. Anything over 50 will decrease time, and anything under 50 will increase time.
Prestige: Prestige can be thought of as your driver. The higher the prestige, the fewer mistakes made. (This factor won’t have a significant influence)
Reliability: Your reliability heavily influences the length of your pit stops.
Pit Stops: Your pit stops are influenced by a few factors. First, the amount of times you have to stop is based on your fuel economy. Second, your reliability affect the length of your stops, and has a slight influence on your stop times. (Theoretical fuel tank size is 130 Liters (about 34.3 gallons)

Additionally (and this is my bad  ) there are now new general quality limits of -5 to +5, unless otherwise specified. There’s also some new information in the additional information section.

I’d suggest going a step further and requiring either a manual or auto manual transmission (sequential was removed in 4.2).

This is to simulate all required safety and communications equipment.

But how should you balance turbocharged engines? By imposing a 1.4x displacement multiplier?

Does this refer to material costs?

Requiring only a manual or auto manual isn’t something I’d considered, however that’s a good idea.

I’d intended to balance turbo engines mainly by just limiting total power output

And yes, that does refer to material costs. I’ll change it for clarity

Aren’t sequentials back now, with the difference that it is what most people see as a sequential transmission nowadays?

Is this the minium or is it mandatory to have model year 2005?

Does this having 260 and 290 wide tires results in a bin, so the maximum we can use is 255 and 285, or does it mean 260 and 290 is still legal?

The model year provided is the minimum year.

That means anything with 260 or 290+ tires will be binned. I’ll make some changes to clear it up.

I assume we’re building one car for the race, but how many entries with that car do we get? Other races held here have allowed for 2-3 entries per vehicle.

When you say multiple entries, do you mean individual vehicles, resubmitions, or the number of cars being run?

Number of cars being run

Gotcha. I was thinking about that, and I think I’m going to allow more than one. I haven’t decided upon the actual limit yet, but it will be decided by the end of the rules deliberation.

Also, what would count as a sedan? There are a lot of 4 door bodies that the game DOESN’T count as sedans and a lot of 2 door bodies the game DOES count as sedans.

A Sedan would be anything that the game classifies as a Sedan, including 2-door vehicles

That looks incredible!

Remember that rules deliberation ends in a few hours. If you’d like to offer any additional input, now is the time.

Since some of the Australian Supercars had wheelbases up to 115in (Mainly the Holdens), should the max wheelbase limit be raised a little as well?

That’s a fair point, I suppose raising it wouldn’t hurt anything.

Rules deliberation have now ended. Submissions will be accepted April 11, and will end on April 26!

how can this been if your car is older than 2020 ?

If the trim level is set to 2020, it can be done, even if the model year is older than that.
