There is cost effective manufacturing, and there is a game that gives surprisingly high penalties in competitiveness for anything that costs more than $70k ingame.
I’ve had cars score over 100 points in Super and GT with around 80K. Heck I made 100K SUV and it did well in many markets. Except at being an SUV.
If you’re talking about general luxury sedans, then yes I agree.
I wouldn’t say that there are high competiveness penalties past 80K, but definitely very high engineering/manufacturing penalties. Trying to make a supercar/luxury car with high quality sliders in the 2010s is basically pointless as the game ends by the time the engineering is complete…
That’s why I really want to see what the effect of roll on engineering familiarity would do to engineering penalties. It’s literally a game changer. The engineering time would probably drop from 50 years to like 20
Also these days unless you’re building a luxo barge with more exclusivity than performance you’ll probably want a little more oomph and verve than that. The Veyron would still appear the better prospect!
