I’m very excited for the first training.
I might even switch to a totally different car, if this one is too fast.

Alright, here are the first test results: http://youtu.be/s2rYKaQhBD4
Send in revisions of your car if you are unhappy!
Woohoo!

Yep, i need to send in a new car.
This one is WAYYYYY TOO FAST … at eating tires!
Less than 10 seconds off the leaders? Considering that I am a massive noob, I’m pretty happy with that.
Yay! Not last… quite high fuel consumption though.
Any way to track number of errors? Don’t think my driver made any. But i think Killrob’s might take the lead in that category.
And maybe track the top speed of all cars?
Oof - my car is using way too much fuel for how slow it is. I’ll need to revise this thing substantially.
Ok, 6th now. Some adjustments here and there are necessary I think. Indeed tire wear is rather heavy it seems. Though it is always only a 30 min race.
Bayer could you give an indication when the next training will be? A week from now on or so? That way contenders will know how much time they have to prepare.
Also what factor determines the chance for driver errors? Is it drivability or just random?
Excellent. Things have gone as hoped.
Now to test the model that goes a little easier on the tyres…
Best economy, so-so tires ah well, no revisions for me.
Holy crap, so many errors!
Not really where I was expecting to place, will definitely need to look over the car some more…
I think my time is not too bad for a rookie.
Fuel consumption is good but useless if you’re down on speed. So I think I have to give up some fuel consumption to gain power.
Tyre wear in the front is a bit high, so i’ll have a look at that too.
Just for information: Tyre wear will probably be increased by a factor of 1.3-1.5 from next test run on.
The last laps of the races are going to be interesting then.
Like the first F1 races last year, with the much higher torque they had, compared to the year before.
Damn, can’t do anything about it till the next challenge anyway. Looking forward to the actual races though.
A lot of errors from my driver. My problem is… i don’t know ho to improve from here… maybe worth a try to test a different body.
Okay - ditching the pushrod V8 for an SOHC I6. (Why I6? Because I still have a contrary streak. And yes, it’s probably costing me a second a lap.)
Also, switching to sport compound tyres and less camber. We’ll see how much it changes the tyre wear. (Possibly not enough to justify another second a lap, but we’ll see.)
It’s odd that you said that, because your car didn’t actually have that many by my (sloppy, hasty) count.*
As far as I can tell, without controlling for severity of error, the counts are:
[ol][li]Razyx, zabhawkin, TrackpadUser, AshleyBlack, JasonPoland, Lordred, CWRules, HighOctaneLove[/li]
[li]strop, TheBobWiley, 07CobaltGirl, mattmr2, Pleb, UltimateBMWfan, conan, mer_at, Der Bayer[/li]
[li]Chipskate, RubenSL[/li]
[li]Tycondero, peskyboyz, BlastersPewPew, Locust[/li]
[li]Killrob[/li]
[li]NormanVauxhall[/li]
[li]Pyrlix[/li][/ol]
…with RobtheFiend, Leo9613, Packbat (myself), Richard117, and victorgarcia managing a full 10 laps error-free.
* I was watching the video to estimate my time loss due to tyre wear - if I lose less than 0.5 seconds from my fastest lap time after 10, I think the sport compound is likely to have been worthwhile. This error count was something I did as a secondary thing.
What do the values for the errors actually mean? I thought it might be time but a 96 sec error is huge. Sorry if it has already been asked.
When is the next test?
