BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [Qualifying R5]

All those people using the healey body…

That here is a real mans toy! Looks good, has power, what else needed?

I know what you mean.

2.4l i4 DOHC making 175hp for 0.1998 hp/kg

Pyrlix and Lordred… I had a coupe to show off too… Automation did something and now it won’t load

I know man, it nuked my car last night. This is the re-build  (but it is faster, so, see good in bad?)

I had one too, as you can see, but… well, I nuked it myself, because it was being a piece of crap

Yeah yeah I know, workman totally blaming the tools…

Sooooooo, my new coupe I’m building just for the hell of it is only 4 seconds off the pace of my mini… and the suspension has not been optimized yet. Stupid aerodynamics only lets it go 4mph faster than the mini with almost 50 hp more
Currently using the safety “cheat” to get the car light enough to even have a chance, but I may actually try running it in the second pre-season test just to see what happens. :stuck_out_tongue:

So Dalora are entering this contest. After annoying the GF with the 2I must get this car to a sub 2:42 i have managed it and a nice sub 9:20 on GH XD

Here presenting the Dalora Midget.

Just need to decide on slick or sports.

Answer: 175 c.i., long-stoke, redline 5400 RPM (if I remember rightly), and the final car is a full two seconds faster on the Automation Test Track than my prior attempt.

(Fittingly, this third revision is the one I painted red.)

I’m thinking about quitting the competition. I can’t do anything good. I can’t even remember what was the time for my current car.

All that matters is having fun. I EXPECT to be in the back. Build it to your own personal style, what would you want the car to have? (within confines of the rules)

Jason noooooooooo, its all about learning and having fun!
Also, had the coupe doing under 2:41s… started playing with engine settings looking for more top speed, had to walk away from the computer for about an hour… now I can’t find the settings that got me that fast… crap

Having trouble doing a car that’s AT LEAST 2:45 at Automation Track combined with some saving problems is not funny for me. So far it looks like 1955 set is worse for me. And I will not use that hideous convertible that everyone else uses. I will wait for the tests. If the time will be bad, I’m outta here.

I am cooking up the wildest entry… Mid engine minor body. with a minuscule v8

I understand the frustration, we need a version of this race that is all about unique cars, crazy huge 8L engines, heavy bodied cars, etc. I realise most people don’t have the time to tune, but I’m getting my coupe sub 2:41. My mini does 2:39.20… so I am surprised I have closed the gap this much. However the coupe is 8 seconds slower on GH because its top speed is just awful.

If you feel any better, I’m only 2:46:12

I tried to make my Pax Americana with the HUGE engine into a race car.

I cant get the price under 10k.

I’d like to say you’re right about that, but for those of us who tune and tune and wrack our brains and tune just to get from 2:48 down to 2:47 on a roadster, then watching you just breeze to 2:41 with a coupe and sub-2:40 with a roadster, it’s absolutely discouraging.

Nothing against you. You have the time and the knowledge to tweak it. But there are those of us who just flail at even qualifying, and it’s not fun at all.

(Not to say there aren’t people who have crap cars like mine that DO still have fun… but for Jason and I, the thrill is gone).

Good luck to you in '55. You’ve done quite well in the current series, and I hope you can continue to build off of that foundation.

Thanks Vic, I wish you luck in any future challenges you may do.

So, after entirely too many hours today I not only learned a neat “trick” to suspension tuning, but I think I have pushed the coupe as far as it can go.
It’s only about 1-second slower on the ATT, half a second slower on Brands, but 5 seconds slower on Green Hell. Has the same 0-100 and 80-120 times as my (not fully optimized) mini, but has 4-6 mph lower top speed. All of this while weighing 200kg more

Additionally, here is the power curve for my mini. Its so beautiful :sunglasses:

Hey guys!

Pre-season testing will still take some time to be done. I have to balance tyre wear a bit better.

Nevertheless, I updated the track announcement in the OP with an additional track.
