@07CobaltGirl: It looks like you have some room with fuel octane - perhaps make the cam profile less aggressive and add compression or ignition timing? That might get you a broader power band for better acceleration.

I have had bugs like that. Every time I make a car and start messing with tires the āmax tire diameterā variable suddenly goes wonky and I canāt go above some absurdly low value. The only way to fix it is to manually enter the correct max diameter in the .lua file or start over from scratch. Hopefully these bugs get worked out eventually :\
While making my car for the BRC 1945 I lost 5 of them due to bugs. Its the main reason why my suspension in the BRC 1945 is such a disaster, I got tired of re-doing it over and over and over again.
My suggestion, keep a backup of the car. Thatās what I do that now.
If the turbo was small and restricted enough you can get better economy and power band if the power limits are low enough. However, with all the added costs for relatively little gain one might not see any point unless they were hopelessly āturbostruckā xD I would agree that at least the addition of Min weight regulations would be the way to go in later stages, if one wanted to see a wider variety of bodies used. Itāll all be about the drag otherwise, when the tyres get better.
Yeah, I like how the power weight ratio makes it fairly easy for everyone to be somewhat competitive, but it also tends to result in what happened in BRC1945 and what will probably happen now again, where there is one thing that works very well and most cars that donāt respect that are left behind, with very few exceptions.
This might become less true as the years go by and the tires get wider though.
Iāll wait till pre season tests to see how bad idea it was to use a bad body and then Iāll probably try to build everything from scratch without using the same body as the rest of the world
I just ran a 10 minute test with the small 45 body to see what happened. Itās possible to make a car with superior (or just as good as the not-sprite) cornering, and itās just slightly heavier, but the extra 50% drag really kills the top speed. Equivalent power car gives you about 10-20km/h slower top speed!
I have yet to really properly explore the not-spriteās capabilities, but running a low 2:42 with an aggressive (but somewhat unoptimised) tune is still a couple of seconds off the Spriteās sub 2:40. Itās close, but not there yet. And the fuel consumption is also about 50% worse!
So Iād hypothesise that the 45 body will match the Not-sprite in the tighter, more technical tracks but with a long enough straight, that top end is going to prove decisive. That is to say, in qualifying. In the real race, itās slightly different againā¦

After seeing these laptimes i knew iām in trouble. My laptime was a 2:53
It seems like my focus was to much on fuel consumption and my suspension settings were way to sporty, after some changes I lost some sportiness and won some drivability resulting in a 2:47 laptime. Still way to slow, so I wait for the pre season test results and see what I can improve before I send the updated version .
As I said earlier, itās my first time in a competition like this. So I have a lot to learn and donāt really care about that slow time. Itās more important for me to find the reason for being slow, fix it and to see improvement
Thatās the spirit! Personal goal setting and learning through experience is the best way forward.

ok done. I hope those files worked, despite going through every tab multiple times, renaming resulted in the costs and times going slightly awry. Do let me know if I end up 16c over budget, because thatās how it appeared to me when I opened the files again to take a picture. Also my renamed trim and variant vanished even after I saved by clicking the test buttons on those tabs. Odd.

There is only .1 of octane left on the motor (it is in AKI not RON). And, itās actually less than that. One click down on cam hits MTBF/reliability due to high octane (detonation?). Adding compression didnāt seem to help much, and adding ignition timing only made it worse. Remember this is an OHV engine, not a S/DOHC engine.
So Der Bayer, can I send tonight a revision of my car?

With a comparably smaller powerband to go with it. With cost/tech limitations, OHV is not competitive to OHC engines. They are lighter, more compact, but lower airflow (unless you compare it to 2V OHC) and low RPM (due to heavy, early valve float). They are difficult to make competitive without serious quality slider abuse. Typically, to get a 1hp:1ci, it requires at minimum 6 quality on both valvetrain, and fuel system quality is usually necessary as a companion. Once you get MOHV in the 80s(?), it gets a LOT better, but still not completely on par with S/DOHC setups (power-wise). Of course, there is a power/weight limit, and it is pretty easy to meet this one even with OHV. I actually DE-tuned this engine, as it initally was for use in the NOT-Chevrolet BelAir I built, which weighed in at a hefty 1600kg! Using the 1600kg body, I could not get it above .16 ratio, however, due to costs, and could not get the weight down either. This coupe I ended up using couldnāt get much heavier either, so a detune was required. It was initially north of 265hp.
I read you - Iām just curious. I figure Iāll just make an OHV trim on the competition car I already built and see how that pans out.
