BRC - Out of the Steam - 1945 [Final Race Results]

Didn’t get a chance to revise and submit my car… Lost 7 places

I made the mistake of thinking that we couldn’t enter new revisions, by reading previous posts. I’ve sent my revision today thinking that we couldn’t enter anymore, but it was because i was reading certain posts wrong.

Anyway, I can’t wait for the racing to start, as i’ve completely finetuned my cars engine now, without losing much of it’s reliability.

Also, i should note.

The car ingame is 689kg…when i rebooted the game it suddenly was 682 kg, but when i ran it on the test track, and also in the menu listing it was 689 kg.

Until I get my PC up and running I am going to have to go with my last submission, it isnt perfect (or even very good) but it is all I got right now. Laptop wont run Automation so I cant even use that to try and get a revision in on time. Ah well.

I have also seen that happen. I don’t know why, but the game as issues with weight calculations it seems. However if you just reselect your engine variant the weight is displayed/calculated correctly.

Same here, it appears to show the wrong value until you have the car “update” in the designer. I’d assume the real value is the one after the game updates the value. I hope so, otherwise I am in trouble! XD

Quick heads up, this time around I’ve not had the time to chase a really fast laptime (I’m pretty bad with narrow tyres and old tech), so don’t be confused by my likely poor placement in most of these race: I’m not the guy to go to for performance benchmarking in this challenge! I’ve gone for the lightness and extreme economy end of things, so I’ll be hoping to have relatively little weight penalty (which will be mostly useless as my car has a poor top speed), and relatively little tyre wear.

Ok… do i submit also the car’s true name in the PM? Or do i simply send in the files?

Just the properly renamed .lua files.

Well, looks like I’m going in dry
I’m taking a rather conventional approach to the engine by using a 1.5-litre, 16V DOHC inline-4 instead of one of those fancy v8’s. I know my car won’t be the fastest around the track, so I hope the fuel efficiency is good enough to make up for it.

Final revision sent in, looking to be in the top 10, if not challenging for a podium, just hope im good on tyres and fuel.

I was so slow I went for an in for a penny in for a pound style. Do you think the tires will wear more if they are almost sideways? XD

Nah, you’ll ride on your brakes just fine, lack of grip is a myth

Doors are closed now. Please wait for more information. Trump cards will probably be released in the evening.

WOOT WOOT

Really looking forward to this. Will be interesting to know how much the others have been holding back in the pre-season tests and stuff
Did anyone manage to run below 10 minutes on the Green Hell track?

Managed 10:00.39, flying lap will shave a solid 8+ seconds off. Really tried to optimize my car to be fast on the short tracks, as well as GH. I could either have 9:58.xx on GH and go about 2 seconds slower on the short tracks, or I could run 10:03.xx on GH and take a 3/4ths of a second off the short tracks.

That is really quick  I only ever managed a 10:05 on GH and the first car I sent in only did a 10:25 even. The races will be very interesting indeed!

That is quick indeed. Not that I was actually aiming to go fast, but it seems I will see a lot of cars blowing by mine on Dottinger Höhe!

Same here, dont worry, I will help prop you up :stuck_out_tongue: I dont expect to do any better than the mid-high 20s.

I have a sneaking feeling my entry messed up with the saving… sigh oh well.
