Well the only car in the points not scoring points in that race.
And gg GenJeFT

That was a hell of a race between me and GenJeFT until I crashed again. Good job there.
If it were not for that crash I think you could have won, our cars are close but yours is just that much faster in the straits. My car was only a little bit better in the corners.
Is the replay video up?

Yes on twitch, I don’t know It would have been very close that’s about where I kept passing you.
I scored points! And led a lap!!!
W00T!!!
I am curious how I lost 6 places in the 28th lap of the first race with no crash or error though…
And I guess I got lapped in the final 5 seconds of the 2nd race? I stopped racing and everyone ahead of me was still going? It looked really odd.
I’m guessing it was bad luck with traffic - your speed did drop off a few times toward the end of the race, and if you lost your drive off a corner or something that could cost you dearly.
Now I know why the car does worse in the second race: its too weak in every respect to have a solid advantage anywhere (in the early race). So even if it gains a handful of grid places for the second race (which is silly, it might as well throw the first race and start further up if it’s not finishing in the points anyway), it will crash because it’s swarmed by simply better cars, and limps the rest of the way. The car itself is slightly stronger at the end of the race, but I suspect would have been better suited to a 2 hour race, not 1/2 hour!
That is to say, arguably, the current format of points and reverse grid for second race has a curious side effect of punishing the mediocre middle-of-the-pack cars the most.
I have a question concerning the reverse grid. Is it correct that the cars which where slowest and lowest in grid position during the final laps of the reserve race finished earlier than those in the top grid contenders? It seems they did a lap less than the others, as the top 10 finished later than the bottom 10. They had been lapped by GeneJeft and therefore had +1 lap, why would they finish earlier then? Or am I missing something here? Maybe something is wrong with the programming here?
If I understand it correctly, the checkered flag is flown when the lead car finishes the final lap. If your car, like mine, had been lapped by that time, it doesn’t do the [edit: missing] lap - it just completes the lap it was on and is registered as a lap down for standings purposes.
Same as they do in F1. The leader finishes, everyone behind stops racing at the finish line, no matter how many laps they are behind.
Yes, this behaviour is expected. Everyone finishes after the leader has finished.
Ok, though my car wasn’t lapped I believe. So that’s why I still tried to complete the lap with the guys from 2-8 position I think. Effectively this does mean lapped cars do one less lap.
Race 3 Training
Alright, let’s keep the pace up! Here are the results of the training sessions of race 3: youtu.be/TtctnIwD_vI
Y’know, I don’t know how you assign cars to training cadres, but sitting third in the first group I was feeling pretty optimistic about my chances in qualifying until the second group started posting times.
That said, it looks like I’m liable to gain another position in qualifying here. Clearly my engineers had no idea how to optimize a car for a track, because all the work they did was at the Automation Test Track, and that’s my worst qualifying result.
Still working on the stats, wanted to post it so everyone could see (It’s a google spreadsheet). But am having trouble getting the points table to work. -.- If anyone is good with spreadsheets send me a pm. If I can jump that hurdle it’d be pretty much set up.
Basically the groups are divided up according to the championship standings. The ones with more points in one group and the rest into the other.
Same here, except I’m balancing on the edge of being qualified and so far i’m notoriusly ending race 1 as a last man standing
Roughly 1/10th of a second between me and absurdist… Once he starts losing fuel weight I just can’t match his acceleration.
I got a good qualification lap for a car that does not turn very well. I am happy with that.
