The larger car has larger wheel wells - I got 14" rims with 155mm wide tires that way. I’m looking to see if I can make a faster car on the other body before I choose, though.

The Valkyrie Aspen BCR Special is putting it’s 1.5 Litre engine to it’s limits. And has been specially built for the '45 Bavarian Racing Challenge.

Here the Znopresk entry… it’s 1945 so… no chrome stripes on the side… very humble looking and essential as a lot of post war cars were.

Regarding the safety weight exploit: You don’t benefit with a lighter car (because of power-to-weight ratio rule), so I won’t interfere. The issue will probably be sorted out by the devs before the end of the submission deadline anyway. If you want to be on the safe side that your car does not become heavier after an update, just don’t use the exploit.
All current entries are currently doing a pre-season test. Expect a video (including tyre wear) soon.
How much of an effect will tire wear and brake fade have, do you expect? Should we be thinking about using sports compound instead of semi-slicks?
Depending on the setup of your car, you will maybe not be able to use semi slicks. Just study the upcoming video and you might get a feeling for it. Though I will not share who runs on which tyres for fairness reasons. Send in an entry soon and you will be able to watch how your cars performs.
Brake fade is not simulated but a factor of general driveability, so you should try to minimise that.

Crap, I looked at what I sent in and saw I got it reversed, sorry I really really dislike this new setup with the save files, I understand it is needed but good god is it a PITA to deal with. With all these races and challenges going on an “export” button should be implemented on the platform selection screen which saves all relevant files in a different folder ready to be zipped up.
Well that is VERY interesting… Did the tire wear really change that UMGaming’s car that much? He lost a ton of seconds from the beginning to the end and it says he wore 50% of his tires away. I am happy with how my car zipped around, mid pack is better than I expected but will think I will tweak it a bit. I cant wait till pit stops are taken into account later for tires and fuel
I’m happy I hadn’t submitted a car yet. My best times were ~183 seconds from a standing start, and that looks to be about fifteen seconds off the pace. I have some work to do!
It’s not only a flying lap but also with braking into and accelerating out of corners, so lap times will be a good bit faster than in the game.
The grip value in the video is the factor for tyre grip, i.e. it limits acceleration, braking and cornering. For example a grip value of 0.5 means that the cornering speed is reduced to 75% of the original value. The mentioned player had a heavily understeering car which wears out the front tyres very quickly.
Question, will Green Hell be just one lap or? I can see tire wear becoming a big issue on that track if it is more than one (would be awesome though!). I got a bit “annoyed” listening to nothing on the video so I had some GP race playing in the background as well Made for a better atmosphere even if it didnt “fit”.
30 minutes, everywhere. Pitstops won’t happen so it’s basically the same race length on any track. Probably 3 laps on Green Hell, I doubt anyone can do below 10 minutes
Yeah, music in the videos would be nice, but I don’t want to spend too much time. Maybe later when I’m more used to the whole process.

That fifteen seconds was an estimate based on comparing the first and second laps of Car #1, which suggested ~6 seconds advantage given a flying start, but later braking into the corners and earlier acceleration out of the corners would definitely make a big difference on courses like these.
…also I had about $1000 of unspent cash in the budget available to spend on aero and gearbox, if nothing else.
Whoo podium! But I think I need to dial back on the tire wear it was costing me ~2 seconds every lap.
How much may we still alter in terms of the cars? May I swap an engine for example?
Another question: Der Bayer, could you explain the impact of drive-ability of the cars on lap times/wear?
