Some more business side ideas (I worked in car sales years ago and have been a business owner for 16 years so my business mind is always at work)…
Will the dealerships have ability to handle recalls, repairs and maintenance, particularly when the vehicle is in warranty. And speaking or warranties, can the player set these? In the U.S. it is standard to see 36 months or 36,000 miles (Ford) all the way up to 10 year or 100,000 miles (Hyundai), and everything in between. But the dealership has to fix vehicles under warranty and if yours tends to break down a lot, expect it to be in the shop… F.I.A.T. = Fix It Again Tony.
On the Corporate side but also affecting dealership sales will be how vehicles are financed. Will the car company also have its own financing division? Or will it rely solely on regional banks? This could affect sales and buyers.
Last, can cars be leased versus sold? A whole leasing division would be setup whereby contracts are given to consumers to lease vehicles. There are 2 basic flavors of a lease - open ended and close ended. Best put, a close ended lease will have a final date where either the vehicle is returned without damage to the vehicle OR the consumer buys it for the remainding residual value of the vehicle. In an open ended lease you can either continue to make payments until paid off (sort of rolls into a purchase contract loan with fixed payments) OR the consumer can turn the vehicle in and jump right into another vehicle.
Of course all this leaves one more issue… what do you do with the returned used vehicles? This would almost require the dealership to also be able to handle USED CARS or as we like to call it PREVIOUSLY OWNED.
Just some thoughts…
Seriously, the business sim is one area that I am most keen on. Let me know what help might be needed.
