Cars that should be produced again

Tell me what type of car that should be produced again.
I think the Nissan Silvia should be produced again because of it’s 2 litres SR20 engine can build the fastest Nissan dragster
I messaged Nissan and i got this

What car do you think should be back again and tell me the reason!

There are actually a couple of them.
I really, really want the Honda S2000 back because of its high-revving 2.0L I4 vtec engine. It makes a lovely noise and it goes quite well, it’s basically an affordable sports car with a racecar-like engine (for its time).
Next, i want the old BMW 3series back, especially the E36 and E46 because they looked badass and most of them were sold with the I6 engines which even for today’s standards are very good and reliable. They make a sweet noise, they have a perfect 50/50 weight distribution and they’re lighter and simpler than the E90/E92. And while the new 3/4 series is arguably better overall, they’re just completely different from the E36/46 because the only I6 you get is in the 335/435i or the M3/M4 which are both cars that average people can’t afford and can’t run because insurance costs are crazy high. I know that today’s 328i has 245hp with its 2.0 I4T, as opposed to 193hp from a 2.8L I6 but the I6 is the engine we all want from this car, and that’s gone.
I would also love to see the BMW M1 come back to life, which should be pretty obvious given that i’m a BMW fan. It’s a legend but like so many other legends, it’s dead and it would be completely outclassed by today’s supercars.

Not so much produced again as not killed off, the Evo. I’ve no idea what Tarmac Rally people will do once those disappear…

On second thoughts, they might find something more entertaining to watch :stuck_out_tongue:

The supra, MR2, and celica. Don’t get me wrong, I love the frs/gt86 but I miss the days when Toyota had a full sport lineup.

Pontiac Aztec.

Just joking of course. Pontiac Solstice or Saturn Sky, just modernized with that amazing technology called “A roof that can be removed and kept with you when you drive away.”

Agreed for the S2000 and the Supra, but I’ll add these :

  • Lotus Esprit, for the old-fashioned gentleman’s car.

  • Nissan Skyline R34, for the HICAS, the gorgeous body and the rather-small 6cyl (I like the GT-R, but a large V6 and vertical headlights can’t make it a Sky).

  • Mazda RX-7, because the Wankel deserves to live beyond it’s limitations (the RX-8 looks good, but the NA is a little underpowered).

  • Lamborghini Miura Concept, because it’s a shame to let such a beauty go to waste and “don’t live in the past” is not an excuse.

  • Pontiac Firebird, because the modern Camaro is a perfect basis and we need to bring back the early and late seventies’ designs (and because this plus this equals perfection).

  • Ford GT, because retro-styled supercars are awesome.

  • Honda NSX, for the love of sober supercars and in loving memory of A. Senna.

The era of japanse sportscars should come back…

BTW the first picture in the thread isn’t showing

It is not really a production car, but it would be awesome if Mazda (or anybody else for that matter) built another rotary Le Mans car, in the style of the 787B.

that’s unfortunately only a concept car which looks terrible in my opinion, i’m really disappointed about this design. I could probably write an essay about how much i dislike this design which is obviously not your fault, Noporian. Thanks for bringing it up. But i really hope that BMW reworks this design massively if they choose to build another M1.

Any rotary-engined car would be great, like a RX-9 or something like that. They are so smooth and the noise is just great, I think that the 787B downshifting is one of the best car related noises ever.

I know there are many shortcomings especially with lubrication, but if they could make a rotary that achieved the emission standards it would be awesome.

Okay, I agree this is real ear porn, but as I said, a real RX-x must have a turbo.
While Mazda is still working on their next Wankel, the Wankel still has to cope up with two native facts :

  • Higher emissions,
  • Higher fuel consumption.

Two major drawbacks today, even with Mazda’s considerable effort to reduce them.

The problem is mainly the lubrication actually. Since there isn’t a constant oil-film to protect the parts and the sides of the rotor are submitted to very different temperatures, there is the issue of breaking it, so the engine isn’t fully optimized for maximum efficiency, creating the emission and fuel consumption problem.

(This is what I have concluded from what I heard, but I am far from an expert)

Could octan get the picture in the first post working again?

I don’t exactly remember what it said, but it was an official reply from Nissan, saying something like “It’s no more in our car lineup, but we’re looking for it’s successor.”.
Of course, it would be better to have the original message back.

Leonardo9613, I know this from the good ol’ Wikipedia, and whereas it is actually mentioned, I don’t think it’s Mazda’s main problematic.

They messaged me that they don’t bring the Silvia back

Maybe some of us that feel the same, should get our heads together, all invest the same amount of cash and start production of those old JDM sportscars again… so reborn silvia, evo, supra, rx7 etc.etc. :stuck_out_tongue:

But is anyone here an engineer/mechanic? Because if not, our final products wouldn’t be anywhere near as good as the originals

if we all finance, we can hire people to do that for us if we dont have the knowledge ourselves

We can do it with the profits from the “Car Island” thing that we dreamed up .
