Argument recieved and your point isn’t false, but you’re telling me you care more about performance figures than driving experience? Why not just wait for an autonomous F1 car and just strap yourself to the wing? Any Aston will beat the GTR in the sound department, they come in manuals, and give you far more control. No computer nannies to meddle with your driving, just you, the car and the consequences of your choices. That’s how it should be.
And look, I totally get being Nissan fanboy, I used to try and argue in every debate that GT-R is the answer but the reality, my friend, is that they’re just not that good anymore. In the competition range it’s sitting, you currently get cars that look better, sound better/have more cylinders, and aren’t so… bland. Let’s face it, the GTR is getting old and it is heavy as fuck. And I don’t think the next gen is going to cut it - just look what happened to the new NSX as a hybrid. Monotonous and booooooring.
I guess you just aren’t the average dude, so the fact of it being an Aston isn’t enough.
My earlier points can be applied to the Aston(s) too. Overpriced, slow and heavy. But at least they have aged well and look decent and sound decent. Supposedly the driving experience is sublime too.
Well i was informed by a Spanish friend that Pajero means wanker. Not sure if this is true but if so that’s half my point. And diesel is good petrol is very bad lol. Oh and the paint doesn’t last everyone I see here is either blue and the clear has bubbled or that snot green color. …and the clear is bubbling lol. The Aussie Sun doesn’t take long to kill poor paint jobs
That isn’t what I meant at all… the car, for me, has to be able to remain a daily driver; with a reasonable amount of storage space, reasonable ground clearance, actually being able to get parts for it without them first having to be hand-made in a shed, ect. so performance figures aren’t everything… but they are indeed very important to me. I look for a combination of performance, lowest cost, reliability, and practicality… and the GT-R seems to be the best bet for that in its class… or my nostalgia of older Skylines (R32, R33, R34) is clouding my vision. One more serious boon for the GT-R is it’s AWD system… something I consider manditory for anything over 300hp. Burning the tires through 2nd or even 3rd gear is just stupid… not even mentioning adverse weather conditions. I’m someone who will take my car out in the snow… no matter what that car is. If it can’t serve me in demanding conditions… then it’s not a car I want to own.
Sound is debatable. The GT-R is too muffled and calm for my taste… but Nissan VQs are some of the best and most aggressive sounding engines to my ears, so I know she can sound good… just doesn’t from the factory. Nothing an atmospheric wastegate can’t fix. I’ve never liked how V12s sound; they’re either too smooth or too high-pitched for my taste.
Really though… this discussion is pointless because unless I win the lottery (I don’t even play it), I’ll never be able to buy either of the cars in question… so I’ll stick to my down-to-earth dream of a 240SX… assuming I can find one that hasn’t been riced into oblivion or rusted out. Seems unlikely to happen… but probably more likely than winning the lottery.
I’m late to the party but let me just put on my Bill Nye impression:
“Wow, what a fucking retarded comment!”
Let’s just put you in a chamber with regular atmosphere in it, and combine the two elements together and wow! Did you take any science classes in school or was that also a government conspiracy?
Yes I did, that’s what I get for not reading every post that I missed overnight. Thanks for clearing that up (and obviously disregard everything I just said in the previous post.)
No hard feelings.
Yeah… my original comment was a satire on the fact that, since those two elements are the most abundant ones in our atmosphere… insinuating that they combine only in internal combustion engines is asinine. Any high temperature condition will produce NOx.
Now then… back on topic… because I feel that I am responsible for de-railing this thread way too many times.

Nissan Juke. The aesthetics are… a bit questionable… but it is at least something different compared to the stagnation in design in the past decade.
Hyundai Veloster. Same reasons as above.
Lancia Stratos. Then again… who doesn’t?
Jaguar Mark 2. I don’t like most British cars. This is the exception.

Bentley Bentayga. Vomit.
BMW X5 and X6. These are possibly my most hated vehicles. Consult the “douche thread” for more information.
BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo. Ugliest wagon-like-object ever created… it looks deformed.
Pic related fits all of your needs, for much cheaper, much faster, and much more reliable than a GTR.
And a RWD does not spin over 300 hp lol. It all depends on gearing and tires. You can spin 100 hp if you’re on bald tires. You can hook 1000 hp on proper tires.
Yeah… no. It may indeed be cheaper, but it won’t be faster and still remain drivable on the street, and it certainly won’t ever be more reliable. Besides the fact that 4G63s are notorious for throwing their cranks, you’ll need to completely replace the internals, and you’ll need to boost that poor little 2 litre to oblivion to make the same power as a GT-R. You’re asking to making about 273 hp/L. It won’t survive long, and it’ll be a shit engine to have on the street.
300hp will on street tires; likely only through first though. My 2nd and 3rd remark was about the Aston Martin. You can’t run tires that need heat cycling on the street.
@ramthecowy I don’t even want to think about any sort of maintenance, let alone repairs on a transverse V8.
…European and, more importantly, American engines more reliable than Asian? Wat?
Lots of Toyota’s engines were way over-engineered for their purpose. For example, the 1UZ. Easily capable of a million plus miles (as shown by Matt Farah’s Million Mile Lexus) with just regular maintenance.
I don’t understand how you can claim old American engines were reliable…
Edit: Also, to one of the other guys, the Pajero? Had one in DUBAI for 4 years from new and there was no paint bubbling or nothing. Was also a 3.8 Petrol and it was an amazing car… Not sure where you’re getting your info from.
