You know what I’ll take 6th, not a bad result after getting absolutely dumped earlier!
Thanks for the fun challenge Crypt, well hosted!
The Amis did much much better than I thought, but am happy it did so well. The inspiration for the car came from my IRL hipster friend. He is very similar to Dominic in many ways (and very different in others). In any case, he’s the guy with the old single-speed bike with the basket, goes to specific cafes and bars, likes folk music, dresses that way, has the hipster facial hair… and he never had a drivers license in his life despite being over 40 years old. So I started thinking “what car would insert my friends name here drive IF he had a license and wanted to buy a car?” The Mons Amis is what I came up with as the answer to the question. Small, quirky, reliable, but with modern conveniences hidden under the skin, and an overly friendly name.
Amazing challenge, thanks for hosting this. Cool Wall chalkenges could become a new permanent challenge like CSR or TMCC.
Well, first of all, thank you for the challenge!
Then, another thing, I am honestly surprised that I finished in second place, that’s the best I have ever finished in a challenge I think, and I certainly didn’t expect that.
Some words how I ended up with the Freeway Star:
I try to stick true to my lore most of the time, so I browsed through the cool wall scores and saw the Delica scoring high. That made me think of the IP Freeway star. My first thought was that it probably could have had an “offroad” version like the Delica. Unfortunately, this van body did not accept decent size tyres so in the end it ended up more tame than the Delica. Maybe I should have went without the AWD, torsen diff and A/T tyres since I guess that did the van no favours in the end.
Then, looking at most of the requirements, I realized that making a version with a high end interior that could seat six was probably the key to success. I overestimated the want for a manual, and it should be kept in mind that the vehicle is still a “white van” in its basic form, so it’s kind of compromised with a stiff suspension for getting a decent payload, etc.
I guess I could have made some things different, on the other hand competing with the much newer and still kind of unique Amis would probably have been a hard task anyway. Congratulations to @cake_ape for the win, and I am very satisfied with being second with that kind of competition.
Not Last!
It totally should be!
