Here few things that in my opinion could be in desginer:
Image to logo-> This option will change image with logo that you made (in gimp, photoshop, paint etc.) to model badge that you can place on your car
Light ON mode-> Button in game panel wich switch on the lights in car.
Free design mode-> Option which allows to place accessories on the on each part of the car (for example, i want to get logo on the D-pillar (maserati style) but now you can only place it on the
between of the car)
Change color of different parts and accesories of car ( and of corse what tiggers like best- carbon)
Window Tinting
And question - If you plan to make a simple interior designer?
Its all for now. This game is so great! I spent a few hours on this game and its amazing! Good job!

Turning an image into a nice mesh that deforms onto the car properly = all but impossible
Don’t really have a good way of lighting up the lights that will look good.
That’s a limitation of how that type of badge works, that it needs to be on the centre line, we might also add some you can stamp anywhere though.
What parts are you thinking of. MIGHT be possible.
5 That’d be doable, not sure if we will do it or not though.
there will be a fairly detailed set of interior choices, but you won’t get to see the interior.
Could you not have a basic circle, oval and square logo shape, being short cylinders and rectangles, and with the top surface being either completely flat or slightly curved, in which a custom logo is applied to the top surface.
Apply it onto the car model so that a few mm are above at the closest point, (only really need to test center and 4 points on edge of top surface)
The sides would then act as a skirt straight down to the car model, sort of like a shadow.
Done like this the top surface (the custom logo) would need to undergo no deformation
This would look fine on flat surfaces and, but a bit odd on highly curved surfaces, but a fine compromise to allow custom logos, if that would be possible within your current designer.
Sadly it’s not as easy or simple as it sounds like it might be, we really don’t want to complicate the already horribly complicated fixture system any more than it already is, need to actually release the game one day
OK, so I don’t want to get into any arguments here, but are you saying there won’t be the option of just simple round silver logos? Like the current one, but filled in? Because with that and a circular decal, you have a badge system. Or am I missing something here?
There will be various badge designs. Probably not adding your own unless you know how to model 3D things and mod them into the game.
Though, there will be numorous badge designs available. If you have a good idea or design, check out this thread:
Right, that’s why I was wondering if a decal-style system would make it in – just making a new image would likely be easier than making a 3D model. Even in real life, I can pull off a BMW badge and put a VW badge over it, but the base circle molded into the car stays the same.
Its the way the badge gets stamped onto the car. It creates depth and has to do with placing fixtures on a car. Though we will look if there are other possibilities, but right now, 3D badge stamping is the way it is I guess, according to Daffy (also read about it in another post, not sure which one anymore)
I have some suggestions for additional fixtures - some of which you probably have in plan.
Boot handles
Trim pieces like rubbing strips, black or colour coded or chrome
Old style bumpers (and over-riders) in black and chrome
Boot handles
Chrome or black strips strips like you see on boots
(I been getting round this by using a grill and putting tail lights on them)
Rear post tail lights (a la Fiat Punto) if body shell permits
In my opinion, even it is a simple one, an interior designer that allows you to see the inside and customize it is a valuable addition. It is all well being able to make a killer engine and make the exterior perfect but you want to be able to add an interior that really suits your cars desire. Whether it be a simple one with fabric seats and a basic CD Player or a luxury one full of leather seats, digital dials and TV’s. Your car isn’t complete without that final touch.
Think releasing expansion packs for more cosmetic and engine options, this will keep people interested in the game. If you don’t the game will most likely get stale quickly and will turn out to be a waste to time, money, and energy. not only will doing so potentially create additional revenue, but it will keep the players interested and thus a stable fan base. it’s just a suggestion, and my frank thoughts on the matter.
There will definitely be no lack of content when Automation 1.0 will be released. IMO it’s usually a sign of poor game design if a game goes stale if you not constantly add things to it - so we’ll try to avoid that. If our financial situation permits, and demand is there, we’ll most probably develop some content updates though. We’re aiming for a replayability value of the initial release of around 60-100h, which should be considered more than fair for the target price of the game.
Well said KillRob. That is exactly what it’s all about. I like the aim for replayability just in single player mode, just like Transport Tycoon Deluxe once had (and still has probably for quite some people).
