RAINER! It is about time that you report! Where are you?
Not much time, boss! The abandoned power plant on the B51, Kramer is there and he holds Sarah hostage. Petersen and Kasallek…
Are dead, I know.
Where is Frank?
Here. He survived an explosion unharmed. Rainer, I will call the Spezialeinsatzkommando.
NO TIME! UNTIL THE SEK IS HERE, HE CAN DO WHATEVER WITH SARAH! And the SEKs priority is arresting Kramer at all cost. That means that Sarah…
Is a casualty, yes.
I will not let that happen.
Rainer, no one-man show! I will order Hauptkommissar Schneider and his SEK that Sarahs life has the highest priority.
Bullshit! I know Schneider, that´s a military man from an elite force. He doesn´t think twice before shooting.
Rainer, this is not negotiable. You wait there for backup.
Send me Frank! We will get Sarah out and then Schneider and his army can do whatever they want with Kramer. I got things to do, boss.
Mr. Boehme, he is right.
Frank, you will stay here and wait for the SEK.
Sir, in this case I must disobey the order.
Your career has been exemplary so far, do you really…
My career is not my concern when it is about the lives of my partners.
Fine. Good luck Frank, but don´t try to be a hero.
Meanwhile, Rainer returns to the power plant and searches for an entry, which he finds, but what he sees and hears lets his blood boil…
So, this will nice. You just should be friendlier, damn, I bet you will enjoy it as much as I do.
Just…do me the favor of shooting me now and have fun afterwards…
Ah, you will feel as alive as never before, I promise.
In order to distract Kramer from raping Sarah, Rainer causes a short circuit and an explosion in the control room.
Meanwhile, Frank speeds like a maniac, but secretly knows that he is too far away to stop Rainer in time from doing it alone.
Rainer escapes in order to hide, as Kramer walks towards the explosion, pressing his gun into Sarahs neck…
So, let´s see who distracts our special moments here…
Rainer has the urge to start shooting, but knows he needs to wait for the right moment.
He finally can not wait any longer and opens fire on Kramer, who can dodge the bullet and fire back. Sarah uses the moment to run for her life.
Sadly, Rainer slips on some kind of oil, and can not evade the bullet from Kramer, and is hit in the chest.
Bad luck, you bastard.
Rainer uses his last breath to spit Kramer in the face, who then laughs about Rainer dying in agony, but then notices that Sarah could escape. Sarah is by now too far away for him to catch up, and Kramer realizes that he will lose valuable time if he chases her, and uses the keys to Rainers car that Sarah lost in the escape to get away.
Frank arrives soon after, having a weird feeling and searching for an entrance.
SARAH! Thank god! Damn, what has that asshole done to you?
You are alive? I was never so happy to see you… But Rainer…
Yes, where is he? He managed to get you out, damn, what a guy! Where is…
Sarahs sadness said it all to Frank, so he did not ask any further question. He promises Sarah to come back soon, but runs then inside, hoping that Rainer is NOT dead.
Meanwhile, Kramer speeds through the forest, but turns into a dead end… right into a lake.
Frank then found Rainer, dragged him out of the building and closed the eyes of his partner and waited for the SEK to arrive, not leaving his dead friend alone.
Rainers death is handled by the homicide unit, but Frank orders, without Boehmes consent, Kriminalobermeister Behrendt, to survey Kramers lawyer. After all, the escape of his client brought him a lot of media attention and money, plus, he was the only one to speak in private with Kramer in the prison.
Frank, this is Stefan, he just drove home from his office.
Wait for it! I am sure he has contact with Kramer. Do not stop the observation.
But Frank…
NO DISCUSSION! Kramer killed Rainer, Helmut and Rudi, not to forget 27 other innocent people. And Dr. Schubart changed his Nordwagen Valkyria into a brand new Imperator and paid cash, and that a day after the escape of Kramer. This is not a coincidence.
Soon after, Dr. Schubart returns to his Imperator and drives off, followed by Kriminalobermeister Behrendt.
Ursula, we got a problem. A car is following me. Is Kramer ready to remove my shadow?
He will be, Johann. Don´t worry, just come here as usual.
Although the night is almost over, the officer still follows the lawyer to the docks, and Kramer is waiting in a jeep for his task: Getting rid of Kriminalobermeister Behrendt.
Great, Ursula. So, how is the plan with Kramer?
Well, his book sold a lot and made me almost a millionaire, and now that he will go into exile, he can write a second one about his escape, and this one will make me unbelievably rich.
How about my share for “borrowing” you my client?
Johann, you have been paid exceptionally well. Have you organized the passport for Kramer?
Yes, and you will take care of his collection?
Everything will be moved in the following days. But Kramer insisted on supervising the transport. This is a risk.
You know how much he loves his treasures. You better hurry up, Ursula.
At noon, a young couple wants to have some romantic time at the Berlau city river, but finds a dead body - it is KOM Stefan Behrendt, and soon Frank arrives at the scene.
Inspector Batimus, we already have a first report from the coroner. The cause of death was drowning. Judging from the injuries, the car was hit hard before falling into the water, possibly jamming the driver side door. He made it out, but not in time…
Thanks, eeeh, Mister…?
Walkowski, Jakob Walkowski. I have been transferred to replace officer Petersen. This is Polizeiobermeister Uwe Holtmann, another new colleague…
Thanks, Mr. Walkowski. I wish the reason for our partnership at the highway patrol would be more pleasant.
What are your next steps?
Talk to a profiler. Miss Liehr has studied the case quite well and might be a good help.
Do you mind me giving you company?
Mr. Walkowski, I like that you are interessed in the case, but that is the work for the detectives, not the sergeants. But I will keep you updated, as that case is important for all of us.
Soon after, Frank meets with Petra Liehr.
Frank, I am sorry for your losses. I should have seen this escape coming. Anyway, you wanted some information on him, correct?
Yes. One of my officers died now as well observing the lawyer, but, I have no proof. The divers are searching for the car, but we don´t know where exactly it happened. This can take weeks. What would Kramer do now? Does he have a place he is sentimental about?
Well, the psychopath does not care about humans at all. The only thing he can like are material possessings, like the vintage car collection that his publisher bought for him from his books income.
Wait, his publisher… managed his affairs? I thought it would all be in the hands of his lawyer.
The detailed file report is available for the LKA only, not a normal police station. Ursula Vetter is the cousin of Dr. Schubart and was almost bankrupt until the lawyer told his client to work together with her for the book project, so she definitely owes him something.
Wait, the publisher and the lawyer are related?
That´s why I responded so fast to your meeting request, since it might be helpful for you. Anything else that I can do for you?
Yes, indeed… as a psychatrist, could you please look after Sarah? I think she is in a very bad state after all what happened. Boehme sent her home, and when I checked last she was drunk and destroyed her furniture.
Sure, I will try. Good luck, Frank.
Not soon after, Frank arrives at the office of Ursula Vetter.
Frank interrogates Vetter and uses a little lie: He said that Dr. Schubart has been arrested for the assasination of KOM Behrendt, and for a lesser time in jail, told everything about his cooperation with his cousin. In panic, Vetter runs away onto the rooftop.
To Franks surprise, Vetter jumps off the roof, but lands relatively soft on a truck, then gets onto the street. Frank, totally surprised, needed a few seconds to decide to follow her, taking the same shortcut.
Since her Baumhauer is parked exactly there, her escape is quick - and Frank runs to his car, realizing he has left his coat with the keys inside upstairs.
FUCK! FUCK!
But suddenly a black Rigel appears, with a familiar face inside.
INSPECTOR BATIMUS, GET IN!
Walkowski! What are you…Ah, I don´t care, LETS GO!
Walkowski, where is your uniform and where did you get that undercover car?
That´s a story too long to tell right now. Please make a report, it´s still on the frequency of the drug department, change it for Mamba 12.
The chase goes on, and Walkowski struggles to keep up with Vetter.
But neither can Vetter shake off the cops, so she spins a Cambridge in order to provoke a crash - and it worked, since the cops get involved in the pileup.
Everyone ok?
Damn, Walkowski, I already thought Rainer was a dangerous driver. I should confiscate your license on the spot!
Yeah, but then you can´t get back in with me. The engine is still running, nobody seriously injured, lets continue!
Vetter speeds off, but is a bit too reckless, as she runs a red light and cuts off an ACR - the impact causes Vetters Baumhauer to flip.
Shit, Walkowski, that looks bad. We need her alive!
He, she moves in there. Let´s get her out and locked up until she starts to sing to us.
But the fuel tank got damaged and leaks gasoline, and just when the two cops were ready to get her out of the wreck, the car exploded with a fireball…
At the same time, profiler Petra Liehr tries to help Sarah.
No, no, no! I failed! I allowed Kramer to hold me hostage, and then, when Rainer was shot, I ran like a coward!
Inspector Maier, if you decided to stay, Rainers sacrifice would have been useless. Kramer would have killed you as well as soon as he had no more use for you.
I guess you have to say this in order to make me feel better, but I know the truth, and so do you.
No, I am serious. You did well in that situation, and tried to act as good as possible under the circumstances. You could not do anything for chief inspector Sordel anymore, and it would have been dumb to throw your life away by watching his last words. When he died, he knew he was successful, when he saw your escaping. I have worked a few times with him, and I knew him good enough to be sure of what I just told you.
A bit later, Frank and Jakob, no, Harald Walkowski search for documents in the office of Ursula Vetter.
So, to get it right, Kramer killed your wife years ago, and when your brother was transferred to my department, he followed me to give you information and the chance for a vendetta? That would cost both of you the badge.
Batimus! He is my brother, brothers do that for each other. I take full responsibiltiy, but spare him. Kramer killed your partner, and I was hoping you do for your partner what I would do for mine - doing justice. It was definitely more promising to follow your steps than those of the homicide unit.
That is Boehmes descision, not mine. So far, I can understand your motivation, but the police is an organization with rules and structures for a reason. I will recommend Boehme to keep your brother in serivce, but this is all I can do.
This is more than I can ask for.
Look at that, Walkowski. A transport offer for cars from … Hegerstedt to Porta Minta, the paradise without extradition treaty…
Hm, what cars? OH! Quite nice ones, especially the DCMW…
This is my chance, the profiler said that for Kramer, his cars are the kryptonite. He will be there, I am sure.
You mean, our chance?
NO WAY! You did enough bullshit by now. If you want to keep your job, I would suggest you somehow explain the wreck of the car to your boss as help to the highway patrol in imminent danger.
Batimus, don´t be a stubborn donkey. You know as good as me how dangerous Kramer is. You need a partner out there.
NOT YOU! You are reckless, you are led by emotions, you give a fuck on rules… eh yes, follow me then!
Two hours later, Batimus and Walkowski arrive at the adress, and have a conversation before entering.
OK, so, neither you or me are in charge for this. Either we succeed or hand out our badges together.
I am looking foward to both, as long as we tried our best.
Fine then. One thing, Kriminalhauptmeister. I am the superior, and I will be giving the orders here. If you can not respect this, there is the door handle.
If this is needed…
It is. Let´s go.
Kramer is indeed in the shed, but notices that he has no firearm. Angry abot the fact that he can not shoot the cops instantly, he looks for an escape possibility that lets him leave unnoticed.
Look, Batimus, a DCMW Shariallat Supermacy Twelve. What a beauty. Even the key is in the ignition. May I start the engine?
NO! We are looking for Kramer, not cars.
Well, he is obviously not here, but maybe we can find a trace of him, or something that helps us finding one.
In that moment, Kramer escapes through the window, knowing a truck is parked outside with some cardboard loaded onto the bed, and he runs as fast as he can to the BetterDeals parked outside, also with key ready for the transport company to pick it up for the next day.
DID YOU HEAR THAT, BATIMUS? I THOUGHT YOU CHECKED PROPERLY?
RUN! What are you doing?
Taking the DCMW, we have a better chance with two cars?
IDIOT! Ah, fuck it, then I am getting Kramer solo, I DONT CARE!
Frank reverses and speeds away, following Kramer, Harald Walkowski follows briefly after, as the twelve cylinders needed a few moments to fire up.
Mamba 12-2 to Mamba! In pursuit of mass murderer Erwin Kramer. He tries to join the A2! I need a roadblock. Holtmann, Walkowski, did you follow my instructions?
Of course, inspector. He won´t join the A2, that´s for sure.
All right. Walkowski, tell your damn brother that he needs to learn team work!
Indeed the access is blocked, so Kramer evades the uniformed officers and tries to find another way onto the highway.
And he does - by merging onto the highway in the false direction, directly into oncoming traffic! Despite hesitating for a second, Frank is determined to get the assassin of his partner at all cost and follows.
Harald Walkowski has closed up, but the damaged car blocks the way, and he also hits it, losing Kramer and Frank - at least for now.
On the A2, Kramer causes a total chaos, and keeps the foot pressed on the gas. His non-street-legal race car is smaller and more nimble than usual cars, and the villain makes use of that.
A spinning Schnerblich causes the driver of an Anhultz to lock up and spin as well, so that a LAK joins the mayhem. Frank tries to evade, but the rear tires of his Primus lose grip and send him into the guardrail.
Franks car is tilted onto two wheels, and he is unsuccessful stabilizing it, and it flips and skids into the other guardrail, wrecked and out of the pursuit.
Just as Frank managed to exit the wreck, Harry already appears and manages to squeeze through on two wheels, using the guardrail for wallriding, but more successful than Frank.
Batimus, see, this is how it is done!
Dont waste air, stop talking and ACCELLERATE!
Sure, boss. As I told you, with two cars…
YEAH, YEAH JUST DRIVE! I GOT MY GUN READY!
Kramer is way ahead, but suddenly his Betterdeals makes a weird noise and parts fall off. The steering column broke, and the brakes fail, too… just in the moment a truck is in oncoming traffic. Kramer realizes what will happen now.
YOU WILL NEVER ARREST ME ALIVE! AHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!
Frank and Harry can watch the accident from far away, and are relieved that the chase is over.
Shit. Walkowski, we were too slow. The next dead person because of him…
The truck driver is your business, you are the highway patrol.
You have a bad sense of humor, Walkowski.
I know.
Something is weird, Walkowski. I should be relieved that Kramer finally got what he deserved, but… I am not. I don´t feel any better.
Sure, because he didnt get what he deserved. That exit was waaaaay too easy and fast.
The next week, Frank is back at the department and withnesses Kriminaloberrat Boehme packing his stuff into boxes.
Boss, what is going on?
Someone has to take responsibility. Three of my men died, and one of them a chief inspector that had to give his life to a colleague that is now forced to live with this for the rest of her life.
Boss, nobody could have expected such a spectecular escape…
It is about responsibility. The helm crashes the ship and it sinks? The captain stays on board. Or leaves, in this case. I am retiring early, and there is nothing that can change my mind. Well, one last thing. I am not sure if Sarah wants to stay, and you need a partner. I have a few files of good inspectors here.
What happened to the Walkowskis?
Jakob can stay, as you said. Blood is thicker than water. And Harald was suspended, it does not look good.
Hm, I think we should improve the statistics and have one unemployed cop less.
Are you sure about that? His record is bad.
Not a single bit. But the man is brave, and he is tough enough. I guess if you promote him to inspector, we might get someone who works like Rainer and can be equally successful.
