I don’t think I have laughed this much at a Notruf episode before
S06E05: The Unequal Duo
Trigger Warning: This is supposed to be an accurate 90s cop show and modest violence seen in these things. Please make sure this is suitable for you before reading.
In early morning dawn, two gangsters are doing a deal at a lonely spot next to a channel in Berlau: Drugs against money. Antonio Montana drives off with the money in his Cavaliere, while Jörg Fuhrmann calls his boss.
Fuhrmann, show these Frunians whose territory this is. I want my money back. Prove an example on Montana!
Montana does not suspect a trap, and is busy making plans.
Mamma Mia, this will please il padrone. And finally I can buy my nonna her house at the beach.
But then the Nordwagen appears behind the Cavaliere and rams it, and Montana tries hard with his Cavaliere to avoid being stopped by the mighty Nordwagen with a V16.
Despite all efforts, Montana is pushed off the highway bridge, falling down the intersection. The totally crushed Cavaliere landed on the hard shoulder, Montana is unconscious and critically injured.
Fuhrmann arrives soon after, taking the exit down from the A10 to the A2, and robs the money and kills Montana with a headshot.
Soon after Frank and Sarah investigate the assasination, meeting up with Uwe Holtmann and… a new officer.
So, who are you?
Polizeiobermeister Udo Kaportke. I am the replacement for…
Jakob Walkowski, I know. Tragic story. Welcome onboard. I am Kriminaloberkommissar Frank Batimus, leading the criminal investigations on Berlaus highways and the area around it. What do we have yet?
A truck driver saw a large black vehicle speeding off, an older model, maybe Gasmean.
Kaportke, get me a list of all stolen cars of the last 48 hours. Gangsters do not tend to use their own cars, maybe we are lucky.
Inspector Maier, we have scratches of black paint, as far as we can tell, the car was pushed off the bridge down to the A2, then the driver of the black car killed Mr. Montana, then drove off.
Good, Kaportke, what is with our list?
Just arrived, Officer Holtmann noted everything down for you with addresses.
Sarah, what is it this time?
I just shouldnt have gotten up this time. It is 4:30 AM and already just misery.
Well, that is our job.
You say it so cold, just like Klaus. Is Antonio Montana also just a case number for you? I get that he was a criminal, but murder is not a punishment that I can accept.
So, the best thing to do is getting the murderer then, right? And don´t start again with Klaus. Here, a 1970 Nordwagen Odin S16, stolen from a casino owner this night. I think that is quite the machine to catch up with a Cavaliere Nobile Cesare. The other cars are too slow. A Vaughn in Teberau, a Globus in Gernau, you get it. This Nordwagen has been stolen in Berlau just recently and is powerful as hell. Wake up Harry and let him check it.
What do you mean with… the business is not taking off, Brat? JAKE, YOU GOT A 100.000 MARK COMPENSATION WHEN YOU LEFT JUST WEEKS AGO. No, I dont have savings… My cellphone rings, it´s Sarah, that means work. I will help you one way or another but now I have to end the call. I will come up with something, obiecal!
Meanwhile, Jörg Fuhrmann is hungry, and the fastfood restaurant on the A10 offers breakfast starting at 5AM - so just now - and he takes the chance.
At the same time, Kriminalkommissar Harald Walkowski arrives at the casino in Berlaus shady Nokturngasse, and starts questionning the owner of the stolen Nordwagen.
Mr. Walkowski, someone must have stolen the keys out of my pocket, when my coat was at the wardrobe. I don´t always have an eye on it.
So, staff access only. So, I need a list of your staff, Mr. Wirth.
Minus the ones that were still there when I noticed the theft, I guess.
No! I mean, the one who stole the keys can have passed them to another person during the shift.
Sure. This might take an hour. Here are some very nice slot machines, inspector, here are a few coins, enjoy yourself in the meantime. I`ll get you served some coffee.
Just then, a boy noticed that the keys of the Nordwagen were left in the ignition. He takes the chance and speeds off, and Fuhrmann runs out but can not catch up - and he left the gun, the cocaine and the money in the trunk.
The boy, of course not having a license, is overwhelmed by the power and size of the car and causes an accident in Berlau, and escapes since he does not want to be put back in the orphanage.
He continues driving to a retirement home, entering for his grandfather.
Who are you?
It´s me, Tim, your grandson.
I dont even have kids.
You just dont remember them, you cared for me when my parents died in a car crash until…
Until what?
You got dementia a year ago. Here, look at this photo. We were so happy together, and you told me how much you liked being Captain of that ship in Wildufer.
SHIP AHOI! Helm, set course for Terso!
So, you want to get back to Wildufer, and have a trip like we used to, when you showed me the harbor on our holidays?
SURE! Eh, who were you again?
In the department, Kriminalrat Bernd Schneider is nervous and calls Frank and Sarah into his office.
A MURDER ON THE HIGHWAY ON THE DAY OF MY PROMOTION! Damn. All eyes are on me today. This case needs to be solved fast.
Could you care a bit less about yourself and more about the case?
Sarah, lower your voice. I do care about the case. But this morning is just cursed. Here, a fax just came in. A 14 year old boy escaped from the orphanage. Tim Gottschalk, here is the paper with the information. And a boy matching his description caused a car crash in Berlau in a large, old and black car. I want you to call Harry and make him stop the boy, you will have to search for the murderer as a duo.
A BLACK, OLD AND LARGE CAR? Was it a Nordwagen Odin?
Eeeeh, let me check… registration Berlau-MF 21. Nordwagen Odin S16, why? How did you know?
SARAH, LETS DRIVE TO THE ORPHANAGE! Boss, I will explain you later.
What a desolate environment. And then they put kids in it that have lost their home and family. Of course this feels like prison and they run away.
Sarah, you are not his lawyer. He is doing dangerous driving with a car that was used in a murder, THIS is our priority.
Sure, a 14 year old is an ice cold killer, killing a mafia dealer. SURE, FRANK!
I did not say that he did that, but he is driving the car and might have seen the murderer, and then he is in fucking danger!
No, Miss Maier, he was mostly calm and … not aggressive or such. He came to us a year ago after his grandfather burned down the house as he forgot to turn off the stove. Dementia, a sad story.
And before?
The parents died in a car crash in 1995. No other relatives left that wanted to take care of him. The paternal grandparents are long gone already. He barely talked with anybody and missed his grandfather.
Who can help us with information?
He liked a teacher, Mr. Öhler. He is also his class teacher. And I can give you the adress of the care home too, but I don´t think grandpa Wilfried will be helpful.
Harry has been told to check for the senior, but Wilfried Gottschalk is nowhere to be found.
So, the last time you saw him he was with his grandson? Have you seen where they were heading? Have you listened to anything?
We are care personnel, no detectives. Of course not. The dementia patients have a bracelet that rings a bell as soon as they leave the building. And… well, the bracelet was removed, I guess.
The mood in the department could be better…
So, Harry, you want to tell me that we have a 14 year old boy possibly carrying cocaine and gun and a 73 year old man without memory driving around in a car that is searched by a merciless murderer?
More or less… yes.
Well, forget that list. If the car really has drugs and cash in it, the driver from this morning will surely be after it. When we get the Nordwagen, we also get our asshole. Let´s drive to that teacher, and I send Sarah out on the highways Every patrol car in Berlau and surroundings is now looking for the Nordwagen. Harry, get the car.
Meanwhile, an officer of the Berlau Metropolitan police gets an unpleasant visit during his shift.
Officer Zehnpfennig! May I remind you of your debts? Your horse bets and casino visits have been … not successful lately, hm?
Oh, Mr. Fuhrmann… I will pay Mr. Wirth, surely tomorrow… I promise!
Oh, you can help me a bit… I heard you look for an old Nordwagen…
I can´t tell anything about my work, I will pay, I promise! ARGH!
I WILL BEAT YOU UP EVEN MORE TO THE POINT YOUR OWN FAMILY WILL NEVER RECOGNIZE AGAIN IF I DONT GET ALL INFORMATION! Here is a phone number. Update every 10 minutes OR YOU WILL FACE A FATE WORSE THAN DEATH!
Wildufer! The boy who stole the car took the grandfather with him and the order was to look for them in that direction.
About the same time, Frank and Harry arrive at the adress - it´s the last days of the summer holidays, and the teacher is at home.
Günther Öhler tells the inspectors that the dream of Tim Gottschalk was having one last holiday with his grandfather before he degenerates too much to do this, and that Wilfried Gottschalk was a captain of a trade ship in Wildufer for decades, so the two spent their holidays often there, while grandpa Gottschalk talked about the good old times. Frank and Harry pass the information on to Sarah, who organizes a roadblock on the highway to Ibenhafen, just in front of the junction to the highway to Wildufer.
In that moment, at the mansion of Kalle Wirth:
Marcel, the fucking idiot Jörg got the car stolen by a damn teenager, with the cash and cocaine in it. I want you to make sure he gets it back and then eliminate him. I do not need dumbasses working for me, understood? They are using the A2 towards Ibenhafen, and will propably then take the exit onto the A20 to Wildufer and use the country roads then instead, as the highway patrol will surely block the A20.
While the Nordwagen now exits Berlaus suburbs and heads to the outer ring, Sarah is on her way.
Mamba 12 for Mamba 12-4, please confirm. I am on the A2 heading southwest, directly to the roadblock. No sight of the suspect yet. And again, DO NOT SHOOT. The boy and the geezers are no criminals. Try it the friendly way. They must be there any minute, I am … eh, ten minutes away.
In the Nordwagen, the problem indeed shows up now.
Oh, a traffic jam?
Yes, grandpa.. maybe because of a… FUCK! POLICE STOP!
Is that a Problem, Egon?
I am Tim. Egon was your brother, so, my grand-uncle. Anyway, it miiiiiiiiiight beeeeee…
Fuhrmann is already directly behind Tim, and decides to act fast since he wants to get the cash, drugs and gun back before it falls into the hands of the police officers. Realizing that he is about to be screwed as the Nordwagen is almost the next car to be controlled, Fuhrmann runs out with a gun and wants to grab Tim, who sees the approaching man in the mirror, and, in a panic reaction, speeds off.
Tim crashes through the roadblock, almost running over Holtmann and Kaportke. Fuhrmann runs back to his Primus Imperator and chases Tim.
Udo Kaportke enters his car and starts the pursuit, but Fuhrmann wants to kill Tim before the police could arrest him, so the criminal shoots on Kaportke first and disables his vehicle.
Mamba 12 for Mamba 12-8, please confirm. Suspect Tim Gottschalk crashed through the roadblock. He is chased by a purple Primus Imperator Turbo, registration Berlau-Ulrich-Victor-7845. Imperator driver is armed and not afraid to use his firearm. And, I need a towtruck and a good scotch. Damn, what a first day at the new department…
POM Kaportke, are you ok?
Sure… Inspector Maier, I am sorry.
ITS FINE! Really, the most important is that you are OK. I am passing you in a minute and will be soon right behind the two cars. I need assistance.
Fuhrmann fires on the Nordwagen, but fails to hit the tires or occupants, and Tim causes an accident in a desperate escape attempt. Fuhrmann was unable to see what direction the Nordwagen took after the corner, and decides for the false one.
Wondering where the Nordwagen is, Fuhrmann realizes that he lost Tim, and yells in anger. Just in that moment, Sarah passes him and realizes that she just met one of the wanted cars.
Mamba 12-4! Requiring assistance! In pursuit of the Imperator! He is now driving west on the L72.
Car is registrated on Jörg Fuhrmann. Spent nine years in prison, he is extremely dangerous. Be careful! Batimus and Walkowski are twenty minutes away but closing fast!
Fugitive turns into a quarry. Hurry up!
Damn, where is he?
Fuhrmann uses his car as a cruise missile, trying to ram Sarah to dust, but misses by centimeters… a scared Sarah realizes that she escaped her possible death by a small margin.
He is gone. Damn. Tried to throw his car onto mine, but failed. Escaped on foot… I will try to find him.
This is Kriminaloberrat Schneider. Yes, my promotion just happened, sadly without your presence… Anyway, keep up the good work, but drive directly to Wildufer. Secure the evidence in form of the Nordwagen and bring grandfather and grandson safely back. Batimus and Walkowski will deal with Fuhrmann.
Marcel! What a coincidence! We have to…
It is no coincidence. Jump in and let us get the work done.
Meanwhile, Tim and Winfried stop at a river.
Do you remember how you taught me fishing here, when we drove to our summer holidays on your boat?
No.
But I do, and… I hope you enjoy this day with me.
Hah! When I tell the old geezers from the chess club that we were chased with gunfire, haha, they wont believe that, HAHAHA! Eh, why were we chased in first place? Who are you?
Not far away, half an hour later, Frank and Harry encounter a van.
Mamba 12-2 to Mamba, since Fuhrmann is an employee of Kalle Wirth, … I saw a van in the backyard of the casino matching the car in front of us, can you check B-MP 2465?
Marcel Posselt, also an employee of Wirth. Previously convicted with aggravated assault.
Tough one, eh? All right, we`ll stop him. Frank, lets go.
Does he slow down?
Seems so… NO! HE AIMS FOR OUR REAR QUARTER!
CRAP! FRANK! DO SOMETHING! I DROPPED MY GUN, BUT HE GRABS HIS!
Harry, I try to make him spin us. Hold on!
Worked! Now, get your gun ready this time. Nobody scratches my car without getting arrested!
Jörg, what are you doing?
I saw you have gasoline canisters here - and that the bastads are after us again. Slow down and keep the car straight, so that I can aim better.
Good. Open the sliding door as late as you can to surprise them!
UUAAAAAAH!!!
THAT BASTARD! FRANK, NOW YOU RAM HIM OFF THE ROAD!
I have a hard time staying on the road myself, Harry!
He cant have an endless amount of canisters, and when they ran out of them, I will smack their asses, Frank!
WATCH OUT!
FUCK!
RUN, FRANK!
WHAT DO YOU THINK AM I DOING HERE? BUT I NEED TO GET THE PHONE AND GUN OUT, WE NEED IT IF THE TURNS BACK TO US!
No, they will be more focussed on the Nordwagen! MOVE IT!
BANG
Some time later, the Nordwagen stops at a gas station.
Come on, let´s change the ride.
I like this one. Reminds me of my boat.
But the tank is empty and we don´t have money. Do you like that light blue one?
Sure, sure, a color like a salmon. That pleases an old seawolf.
But how do you know how to steal a car?
When I was straying around on the streets I got to know Jenny, an orphan. She also taught me driving. Sadly she was locked away in a closed dorm for girls some weeks ago,
What an adventure. So, you will also free that pirate girl? I could need her onboard, when I return to my ship.
You are retired by now, what you surely forgot again, buuuut… yeah, sounds like a plan.
SET SAIL, TOM!
Tim, grandpa.
Fifteen minutes later, Sarah arrives at the scene, confiscating the contents of the trunk: Tim never opened it and left the cash, cocaine and gun in it. The proof against Fuhrmann is solid, leading to a possible arrest of Kalle Wirth as well. And she could get the information that the duo continued their drive with a Kaizen FC15.
Meanwhile, in Berlau, Polizeihauptmeister Zehnpfennig updates Fuhrmann on the situation - and provides them with the new car and its registration, being afraid that Fuhrmann would otherwise take revenge on his family, so betraying the uniform seems like the only way out.
FINALLY WILDUFER! Your old home!
I… REMEMBER! Just up there lived my first love. Aaaaah, Trude…
Her name was…Trude?
But the gangsters are already closing up and firing bullets at the Kaizen of Tim, who drives as fast as he can to escape.
Not being experienced with driving, Tim does not notice a reversing car and slams into it, then into a parked Anhultz. Before Tim and Wilfried could run, they are already threatened with guns and forced to enter the van.
The Wildufer police is well aware of the situation as Kriminaloberrat Schneider updated them from Berlau, and they immediately react and pass the information back that a kidnapping has just happened. Sarah is immediately on her way, as she is already in Wildufer, too.
The Wildufer police had hours to prepare for a showdown, and almost all ways are blocked. Marcel Posselt and Jörg Fuhrmann are caught in a trap.
HAUPTKOMMISSAR FISCHER, WILDUFER POLICE! PUT YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM AND EXIT YOUR VEHICLE!
I have your back, inspector Fischer! I am Kommissarin Maier from the Berlau Highway patrol!
Welcome in town, lady. So, LAST WARNING! LET OUT THE HOSTAGES AND WE CAN DISCUSS!
WE ARE NOT DUMB TO GIVE YOU OUR LIFE INSURANCE, INSPECTOR!
In that moment, Wilfried Gottschalks dementia kicks in. Not knowing where he is and how he got there, he attacked Fuhrmann in panic, and a gunshot got loose… directly onto the one remaining gas canister.
The exploson kills all four occupants, and injures inspector Fischer, who gets thrown meters away from the shockwave.
In the evening, a distraught Sarah sits at the beach, leaning against the car and just staring into the ocean, when Frank and Harry arrive to give her some support.
Frank sits down next to Sarah, trying to get some access to her.
You were right this morning, it would have been better indeed to stay in bed. But, IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!
Whose was it, then? The grandpa for getting dementia? The boy for stealing the car? The criminals for doing dirty business? WHOSE FAULT IS IT, FRANK???
This does not matter anymore. What matters is, that it is not yours. Come on, let us find a hotel and a bar.

S06E06a: Under Pressure Pt.1
Trigger Warning: This is supposed to be an accurate 90s cop show and modest violence seen in these things. Please make sure this is suitable for you before reading.
Kriminalkommissar Harald “Harry” Walkowski, drunk and emacitated, is gambling in a shady casino - and seems to have no fortune at all.
Meanwhile, Frank is in an intense high-speed chase.
YES, I AM BEHIND THE BANK ROBBERS! THEY GO 200 KPH IN THE OPPOSITE LANE! FUCK, HOLTMANN, KAPORTKE, WHY ARE THERE STILL CARS FACING US?
Frank, we have blocked the intersection from the A10 to the A2. But, we needed a bit of time until two other units closed the A2. But, what you see there are the very last cars that passed before we really blocked everything.
I HOPE SO!
FUCK! ACCIDENT! YOU SAID YOU BLOCKED EVERYTHING!
Frank, this is the A2. There is LOTS of traffic and we can not secure all accesses immediately.
He! That cop is still behind us. I have never seen someone that determined. Do something! You got the damn gun on the dash, USE IT!
CRAP! THEY OPEN FIRE! ALL UNITS, FUGITIVES ARE NOT HESITATING TO USE A FIREARM!
Frank, break off pursuit, that´s not worth it.
Bullshit! Just be cautious when we arrive, I try to keep them busy!
Eeeeh, FRAAAAAAANK! A TRUCK IS BREAKING THROUGH THE BARRIER! FUUUUUUUUUU…
Kaportke, REPEAT! A TRUCK DID… WHAT? KAPORTKE! RESPOND! DAMN IT!
MAMBA 12-2 TO ALL UNITS! MY RADIATOR HAS BEEN HIT! And… EEEEEEH!!
At least I have a protection shield now, but I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO SEE WHERE I AM GOING AT THAT SPEED! FUCK! And the engine is exposed to their bullets now…
FINALLY! UAAAAH! Now they can aim at me again, shit. And the engine doesnt sound good… MAMBA 12-2 TO ALL UNITS! MY ENGINE HAS BEEN DISABLED! YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN NOW.
Mamba 12-2 to all units. Thanks for nothing. They speed off. Where did you build the roadblock? In Archana because it was cheaper there? FUCK!
But right now the bank robbers in their Riegler Solis Turbo face the huge ACZ HAC truck - and a collision at these speeds could not be avoided. The head-on crash is lethal for everyone involved.
When cleaning the mess up, Sarah appears at the scene, and Frank is not amused at all.
Hello! FINALLY! You know what, I tried everything to wake you up this morining, but, as you see, I HAD IT ALL UNDER CONTROL ALONE! GO BACK TO BED AND LET ME MIND MY BUSINESS!
Frank! Please, I…
Lets drive to the department and continue there, I need a ride, since my car HAS TURNED INTO A DAMN SIEVE!
In the department, Frank and Sarah continue arguing.
I know that it has been traumatic for you, what happened in Wildufer, but… you know, we are not just partners in love, but also partners in the job. And here, right here in the department, I need to rely on you. Why don´t you make a therapy and…
FRANK! Being needed here and helping people is the thing keeping me alive at the moment. Do not take that away from me.
But we can´t continue like this. Sarah, really, after I grabbed Harry and teach him how to use knife and fork again, we must work on your unreliability. That is the burden of sharing both bed and desk, I must also act as your superior officer.
In the evening, Kriminaloberrat Bernd Schneider calls Frank in his office.
Frank, let us just sum it up. Your car is a case for the junkyard, the gangsters died, the five million Mark are lost in the fire, and we have a third dead person. What do we know about him?
Dirk Beyer, owner of a small construction business. Sarah and me found out that he wanted to be on time for the birth of his child and therefore crashed through the barrier…
FINE! WHAT A PARTY FOR THE PRESS THEN! Everything that makes people upset sells well.
Boss, I…
Frank, you lately asked me for a promotion to Hauptkommissar. You know what is required there? Exceptional leadership. Harald comes and goes when he wants and I have not seen him in here for days, Sarah is always late and sleeps on duty and has emotional breakdowns. You can not take responsibility because you are afraid of unpopular actions and your leadership is, pardon, shit. Under these circumstances, I will just tear your request apart and lead your team myself.
Captain! I…
You might have the intentions to fix the situation, but what counts are results. ONE WEEK, FRANK! And if you fail to show improvements in the team, I will transfer both Harry and Sarah, and your promotion request will be my toilet paper. I have been very lenient with all of you since carrying on as usual is not easy after such a tragedy, but my patience has come to an end. And now I want you to close my office door from the outside.
Soon after, a frustrated Frank drives home, while Sarah, who drove home earlier after another nervous breakdown, sits in the corner of her living room with the gun in her mouth, but is unable to make the final step and finally shoot herself, still, she can not put the gun away and tries over and over again to have the courage, when Frank enters the apartment and immediately stops his girlfriend from these actions.
SARAH! NO! The death of the boy is not your fault.
I can´t sleep because he visits me in my dreams, whenever I close my eyes… and .. I have flashbacks to Rainer…
YOU WERE NOT A COWARD! Kramer was one of Hetvesias most dangerous mass murders of all time. If you pull the trigger now, Rainer died for nothing. And it will not bring back Tim Gottschalk either.
At the same time, Harry Walkowski enters an industrial area with his Mara and meets up with an unknown person.
Kommissar Walkowski?
Yes. Are you Hauptkommissar Kurt Voss?
I am. So, who told you that I am after the gambling mafia?
I am a criminal investigator myself, Voss, so… I have my methods.
Voss, it happened so fast. My brother is in financial trouble since he emmigrated to Gasmea and his newly founded business fails. And, almost two months ago, I was doing an interrogation in a casino, and… well, tried it. Won quite a sum. And since then…
Walkowski, how much?
I am 200.000 Mark in debt. And my annual salary is 60.000. I am screwed. Either I become corrupt… or… help you arresting them instead. I know, it is dangerous, but I am still a cop wearing that badge with pride, and I would rather die than becoming corrupt, you know?
You did the right thing. So, what can you tell me… eh, did you hear that noise?
What noise? I assumed we are alone.
A bit more than an hour later, suddenly Franks mobile phone rings. An old Mara jeep goes berserk and caused many accidents, and Frank is in reach to interfere.
FRANK! NO! I need you right now here by my side, PLEASE!
SARAH, HE IS COMING RIGHT HERE INTO OUR DIRECTION! And, I can´t let Holtmann and Kaportke do that, I guess they are off duty as well anyway. The Mara is on the A11 city ring, and the metropolitan police can´t even drive at city speeds in a straight line. FUCK! Where are my car keys? I have no time to search them.
FRANK! NOT MY KEYS! NOT MY MARIO!
That´s a routine stop, Mario will be fine.
FRANK! IF YOU GO NOW… FRANK!
A disappointed Sarah left alone asks herself if it is really a good idea to marry Frank Batimus, while he sprints to the Cavaliere Nobile of his girlfriend and speeds off.
Schneider, I am on my way. But, I am in Sarahs car, and I am not sure if that tiny rollerskate is the right tool to stop a Mara jeep.
Don´t worry. I am on duty myself. Just try to slow the Jeep down until I step in.
CAPTAIN, I SEE HIM! Kilometer 15,5!
Ah, damn, I need five minutes to catch up.
While getting updates on the phone, Frank is surprised to hear whose car it is - the Mara is the private car of Harald Walkowski! He tries to find out if it is really Harry behind the wheel and puts himself in danger, but the small Cavaliere is no match for the huge Mara. In a dramatic chase, the Mara spins another car, putting it in the way of Frank who smashes into it - Frank seems miraculously unharmed, but the car is junk.
The jeep continues, despute being damged, as if nothing happened. Bernd Schneider is updated as well, and with a well placed attack, he finally flips the Mara.
Schneider pulls indeed Walkowski out of the car - he is unconscious. But in the trunk of the Mara is a dead man - he is soon identified as Kriminalhauptkommissar Kurt Voss.
The medical examinator finds out that Voss has been tortured to death, and Walkowskis fingerprints are on the baseball bat used, as well as Voss´ blood on his clothes.
Walkowski can not remember anything and has a total blackout. The prosecutor Golo Grauss manages to get Walkowski arrested, although there is a trace of an injection in his arm. But no traces of drugs were found in his blood.
Frank, being sure that Harald is innocent and the victim of a setup, calls ME Prof.Dr. Hans Rothkowski for a meetup with him and Sarah.
Professor, there MUST have been a drug involved. You even found the trace from the injection needle.
It could be testosterone, vaccine, anything. Sorry, but I can only write down what I know for sure.
Professor, are there actually drugs that could… just vanish?
I have only heard of vanishing drugs in the evidence room… What you mean might be rapidly degrading drugs. Well, there is an use case for it.
And that is?
Professional sports. Higher, faster, stronger - the human body is today at the limit of what it can deliver. But, thankfully chemistry exists. Of course, successful athletes are controlled, often minutes after their performance. It would be a shame if there was a proof of doping.
Why did you not write it in the report? IT COULD HAVE EXONERATED HARRY!
Inspector Batimus, as I said - Prosecutor Grauss asked for evidence, not speculations.
So, where do I find people that can tell me more about such drugs?
That, inspector, is your part of the investigation. I can only tell from my knowledge, that these things definitely exist, but - without having the actual drug, I can not do anything for your colleague.
Frank, we are screwed. How are we supposed to prove something that does not exist anymore?
Sarah, don´t give up so easy. Harry needs to count on us. Grauss seems full of hate against Harry. Can you look for a connection between them?
Sure, just drop me off at the office… but I must be careful that Schneider doesn´t surprise me doing it. He wants to have the case done “cleanly” by the internal affairs department. And what is your next step?
Doping is only worth the risk if it is about some money. And the most revenue is earned in professional football. I will visit our local premier league club, Fortuna Berlau.
An hour later, Frank arrives at the Berlau stadium, having an appointment with goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly and top-scorer Sebastian Paisler.
Really, inspector, you drag us out of training to accuse us of doping?
NO! I do not accuse anybody of you. I just want to know if… there are rumors.
What has the highway patrol to do with that? I thought the organized crime squad is on that subject.
Really?
Inspector, I guess that´s as always with state organized things like the police, the left hand does not know what the right one does.
Mr. Paisler, I can guarantee you that I have a very valid interest in information. ANY information. Please proceed.
Usually manipulation happened with paid referees, that´s a lot more effective than doping. But… since Robert Freundser has been caught, it´s all strictly controlled and barely possible, so… well, yes, you have to go back to doping. Gabor, you have been adressed, right?
50.000 Mark per match, and 10.000 for everyone else I convince to join. Of course I declined. If we had accepted, we would have an advantage and the bet mafia would have made a lot of money with our victory. They told us the drugs are safe, and can not be found in the blood.
THANKS! And, eh, may I get some autographs of the team?
Later, Frank and Sarah drive to the junkyard, investigating Harrys car.
MY MARIO! FRANK, I HATE YOU!
I… will buy you a newer one.
BUT THAT IS NO LONGER MARIO! AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!
What are you looking for anyway, Frank?
I assume Harry was knocked out and placed in the driver seat. Maybe, the injection happened after they buckled him up behind the wheel.
Frank, these are ice-cold professionals. I can´t see anything in the interior. And the whole car has already been checked for fingerprints. Nothing.
It was just an idea. FUCK, I NEED SOME EVIDENCE! Let´s check for Harry in the prison, he will need our company in there.
It feels so wrong visiting him in here…
Sarah, stay strong. We must at least give him a confident impression.
Frank and Sarah find out that somebody in the prison leaked that Harry is a cop - and he now gets beaten up seriously.
Although Schneider is nervous about that, he insists on not breaking any rule, even if they maybe don´t have much time left. This causes Frank to argue with his boss.
CAPTAIN! Yesterday and today it was fists, when is it a knife? Harry will be dead soon!
SHUT UP! You have done investigations AGAINST my order, and even interviewed Fortuna Berlaus team.
But wasn´t that interessing?
Generally yes. I have asked for insight in the files of the organized crime department, but the access was denied, despite me having a very high approval level. All I can do is writing an official complaint, but that takes a while.
HARRY DOES NOT HAVE A WHILE!
I can not deny that I am a bit nervous about the threats in prison. I will demand a transfer to another prison as soon as possible, where hopefully nobody recognizes him as former inspector.
How fast will that happen?
Between two days and a week. The more urgent it becomes, the more I can speed it up. Until then I insist that you do not take further action, or I need to collect your badges. Or you get transferred to the internal affairs squad, then you can work on that case. I also took care for a lawyer. Mr. Günter Bess will do the defense. He might be specialized on traffic law, but in 1996 Harry saved his life if I remember correctly, and Bess wants to return the favour. As far as I know, Bess is very successful.
But Dr. Bess can not help him in there right now.
Neither can you! And now get back to work on the highway!
Despite insisting on following the rules of buerocracy and formality, Bernd Schneider can not ignore that Harald Walkowski might be the victim of a setup, and meets up with Klaus Kasupke at night.
Schneider, you have nerves to meet me in the middle of an undercover job.
I would not do this if it was not neccecary. Walkowski is in trouble, and there are signs that it might be in connection with the bet and gamble mafia as well as doping mixers. I have heard that your department is involved in investigations, but the files are impossible to get even for me. What happened?
Schneider, all I know is that my superior officer, Erster Kriminalhauptkommissar Richter from the Landeskriminalamt, passed it on to the DA. And then, we got no new order to do anything else, and a trial has not started yet. Neither does my work matter. It is weird, the investigation was no longer continued and I am now investigating against weapon smugglers.
Who was the prosecutor in the doping case?
Oberstaatsanwalt Golo Grauss.
GRAUSS? Are you sure?
Yes. KHK Kurt Voss did not want to accept that all his work was not used, and tried to continue on his own. You might ask him for further information.
Chief inspector Kasupke, Kurt Voss is dead. It was murder. It all starts to make sense, but I need the files. I hope my complaint will be approved as soon as possible.
The next morning starts with shocking news: Harry has been stabbed, but survived with luck and martial arts skills, and a transfer for the afternoon has been granted.
Meanwhile, Sarah wants to steal the files that Schneider did not get directly from the LKAs archive.
Frank, I am there. Wish me luck.
Sarah, why don´t you just wait for me?
You got things to do Frank, we have only one attempt and you need to focus on that. Your organization and planning skills are vital.
Sarah, please take car.
Sarah sneaks into the archive and indeed manages to find the file whose number Schneider noted down on his desk organizer.
Just when she got all papers together, she almost got caught in the archive and searches for an escape - by using the same way as she got in: The scaffolding at the building. Just in the moment when she escaped onto it, Golo Grauss spots an escaping person and cuts the scaffolding loose.
Even if Sarah hurried up to get down as fast as possbile, the collapsing scaffolding caused a five meter fall, and she has trouble getting up again.
FUCK! AAAAAAAARRRGH! THAT HURT! But… I need to get the job done…
Meanwhile, in front of the prison, Polizeihauptmeister Uwe Holtmann listens to the police radio of the prison and its vehicles, trying to find out when and with which van Harry will be transferred. He uses a prepaid phone to communicate safely, as do Frank, Sarah and Udo.
SARAAAH! Hurry up. Another van just left, but it is not Harry.
Sorry, I had an incident and needed to be stitched back together. Can you tell Frank that I am placing the car at the location in ten minutes?
He is already desperately waiting for you. And I have the news from Udo that the other car is also in position, I can give you the keys as soon as you are here.
Perfect!
Sarah then enters Franks private car, and they continue executing their plan.
Sarah, what happened?
Grauss tried to kill me, but I just broke my hand.
FUCK! Can you drive?
I can vaguely steer with the right hand but need to shift with left… it will be… challenging.
Damn, that´s risky. Should we abort?
NO! I got the files! But I had no time to read them.
Everything at its time.
Frank, I am a bit nervous.
So am I. Are you sure you want to do this? You know, no pension, and propably some time in prison, and Harry proves how “fun” it is for police officers to be in there.
ABSOLUTELY! We have planned it all and started, we are too far done to step back from it anyway. Let´s go.

Trigger Warning: This is supposed to be an accurate 90s cop show and modest violence seen in these things. Please make sure this is suitable for you before reading.
Ah, Dr. Bess. You really got the keys for the van?
Yes, number 1312. As a lawyer, I can move around quite free in prison, I have many clients there. With a hairpin I opened the cabinet and changed the keychains. So, the driver thinks he has the keys, but that´s for another van. Frank, your uniform is in this bag, should be your size, some lockers were left open and I had some to choose from.
Excellent. But how does Sarah know who is the correct driver to distract?
This one over there. Look. Good luck.
So, now we can´t go back. You ready? You remember the instructions?
Sure, Frank. Let me just do my thing there.
Just when the driver of the prison van came out of the restroom to get to work, Sarah appears and seduces him, and since Sarah is not unattractive, the driver forgets about his duty…
OOH! AXEL! I thought I visit you at work. MMMH!
Eeeehhh…
Oh, sorry, I must have mixed you up with my boyfriend! Sorry! Can you show me the main office? He must be there.
I have to drive right now, sorry…
Pleaaaaase…
Frank, in prison clerk uniform, casually walks behind the wheel of the van and drives off. But for security reasons, there is always a patrol car following. Sarah uses chloroforme for the original driver and hides him in a backroom, then runs to Holtmann who waits outside.
UWE! Now, to the car, fast. I must be ready when they pass at the intersection!
Yep, sure. Let´s hope that works..
Frank drives the route that was in the folder on the passenger seat, and tries to be as unsuspicious as he can. Indeed, the drivers behind him do not suspect anything.
Is that the street with the new donut store?
I think so. Mmmmmh.
Fifteen minutes later, Franks prepaid phone rings.
Frank, I am now at the car. Should I proceed to the intersection?
YES! YOU ARE TWO MINUTES LATE! HURRY UP!
All right, I see what I can do.
Pay attention, Harrys Primus is larger and slower than yours, but it´s also heavier, so you should be good at hitting the target.
Yep… I mean, the car will get crashed anyway so I guess I don´t need to be careful with the tires, I am there in time.
Frank suddenly stops at the intersection, slowing down the following patrol car to make aiming for Sarah easier, as she has trouble steering with the injured hand. With some force that is enough to destroy the car, but still too low to seriously harm the other officers, Sarah slams into the side of the patrol officers.
OH CRAP! Are you ok? I did not think that you would stop. Officers, you can´t park there!
YOU DUMB B…
Naaaah! Where are you manners, gentlemen? I mean, for what do we have insurance?
On the roof of a parking lot, Sarah already placed her Primus Merit in advance, but Frank has trouble getting Harry out.
I can´t shoot the lock open, that would cause too much attention. But… the key ring contains the ignition key, not the door key. FUCK!
Frank, the windows are unbreakable, but there must be a way to open this tin can!
Did you say tin can? I have a tin can opener in the car… Sarah was lately too depressed for cooking and well, it is useful then…
Indeed, Frank cuts a hole into the vehicle with the opener, cuts the lock out and opens the rear doors to enter in the getaway car together with Harry.
But prosecutor Grauß already thought of such a prison break performed by Frank and had officers ready near the transfer route. Soon they got two police cars after them, and Grauß yells over radio that ANY FORCE NECCESSARY INCLUDING WEAPONFIRE should be used. The highway department on that channel yells for Bernd Schneider, who runs to the radio table and overrides that announcement.
Frank, we are in quite some trouble.
I KNOW! GIVE ME THAT PREPAID PHONE THERE!
Here you go.
UWE! I AM NOW DRIVING TO THE DÖLLSTRASSE! TAKE OUT MY SHADOW!
I can try Frank, but…
DO IT!
Frank, that Saarland, can you push them into it?
What do you think I am doing here? Let´s GOOOOOOOOOOOO
Uwe, one left. REPEAT, ONE LEFT! Since we have the faster car we have a bit of distance between us. Passing the intersection in 3, 2, 1…
Here we go, Frank, I try to block the road with a shitty powerslide!
Damn, I was already afraid Uwe suddenly does not mess up a drift when he is supposed to.
Yes, I felt the same. Now let´s drive you to a safe place to hide. We pick up Sarah and then proceed to a shady hotel in East Berlau.
YOU MORON! NAME, RANK!
Holtmann, Polizeihauptmeister. Hey, you asked for support over the radio and I was nearby, so I entered the chase. Why did you ram me? I was just here to help.
THIS WILL HAVE CONSEQUENCES FOR YOU! ARGH!
While Golo Grauß puts pressure on Schneider to call air support, Schneider makes that take as long as possible, giving Frank enough time to hide Harry at the hotel.
Harry, you still can´t remember anything?
The stuff they gave me was worse than a full box of Dr.Dangoths painkillers… hmm.. is that the file Frank told me about?
Yes, the personnel file of Kurt Voss, and the results of the investigations against the bet mafia and the possible doping laboratory they found.
Wait… hmmm… some of this rings a bell. Frank, get me a beer and a wodka. This will help.
When reading through it, Harry quickly regains his memories and remembers Yulia Sokolov (compare S03 E05 and 10) in her wheelchair behind the murder of Voss and the boss of the bet mafia. Sokolov was seriously injured in a duel with Sarah, that had put Sarah also for some weeks in hospital, and remained paralyzed. In addition, Voss told him which of the suspicious bet dive bars mentioned in the files is the correct one to be Sokolovs hideout. Since Sarah has still a feud with Sokolov, she joins Frank. With a phonecall they inform a furious Bernd Schneider who refuses to provide backup and orders them to come into the department asap. Frank tells him to f…off and read up the word “loyalty” in the dictionnary.
Meanwhile, Yulia Sokolov has been warned that the files were stolen and that Batimus is after her. She quickly commands a mobster to wheel her into her van and get away as soon as possible. Just at the moment Frank arrives at the destination, he spots the white VCV driving off at full speed. Frank puts the Merit into reverse and follows it.
Frank, only Schneider knew that we are going here. What if he is the corrupt one? That would explain why he refused to help Harry!
Sarah, Schneider is waaaay to rule obedient and proud to be corrupt, and I bet if it wasn´t for him, we would be arrested or dead by now. But someone has warned them, that is a fact, so we must get them alive.
FRANK! MY CAR!
This is not your property, the taxpayer owns it.
Wasn´t it enough that you killed Mario?
Frank, this is the industrial area where that drug laboratory is!
Sure, they know the location and want to have an advantage over us here. But, my uncle Andreas works here for decades already, so I … know it even better.
Damn, they enter a warehouse, this could be an ambush!
Frank, continue! No guts, no glory!
EDGAR! THEY ARE STILL BEHIND US! DO SOMETHING!
Does this look like a sports car, miss?
Frank tries to stop the VCV violently by pushing it in a stack of boxes, which should be a soft enough barrier to not kill the occupants, but the VCV takes off into the air, and Frank desperately evades the lifted car.
The VCV crashes into many old and rusty barrels that do not look trustworthy at all, and there are dangerous chemicals in them. At the impact, it all explodes. Frank and Sarah run to the wreck, but all help is too late.
HAH! THAT WAS DESERVED, BITCH!
SARAH!
What? My leg was broken in four places thanks to her. I think death penalty is justified. Look, her purse has been ejected.
Indeed…
Sarah, that is the mobile phone, still intact. Let´s see who called her last. I am dialing the number now.
YULIA! What is it now? Have you escaped in time? Hello? HELLO? DAMN BUTT CALLS!
Sarah, GUESS WHOSE VOICE THAT WAS! NOW SCHNEIDER WILL HAVE TO REACT!
In the evening, Golo Grauss steps to his car and wants to drive home as usually, but is arrested by Frank and Bernd Schneider in the undercover car, while Holtmann and Kaportke block the other side. With all of this proof, Harry is relieved of the accusations and rehabilitated.
A week after, Frank and Sarah marry on the graveyard. This weird descision by the couple was made to marry in the presence of Rainer Sordel, who was not only a great partner for Frank, but sacrificed his own life for Sarah. They said “yes” right in front of Rainers grave.
Soon after, Harry and Bernd Schneider have a discussion in the office.
So, I guess my career is over anyway.
Yes. I mean, you violated the protocol on a daily basis, and that story… now that you have been addicted to gambling, it is hard to trust you. Even if I do, since you did NOT become corrupt and have chosen the right thing to do… there is always something remaining.
I wanted to join my brother in Gasmea anyway and help him with his business.
With what income? I thought being a police officer is what you want. How about a nice recommendation letter to the Gasmean Highway Patrol? What town was your brother in?
Crafton.
You do not have to quit here, but if you want… I could arrange something.
Some days later, Frank is the next in Schneiders office.
YOU SHOULD BE CONVICTED TO MARTIAL LAW! What you did was the most reckless thing I ever saw. On the other hand…
Yes? What?
I criticized your leadership abilities, and you managed to get the whole department behind you to perform a keen plan, and all that behind my back without me noticing.
Well, you could write me a recommendation letter as well.
I passed foward a recommendation to the staff council, proposing to turn Frank Batimus from Oberkommissar to Hauptkommissar. BUT I AM STILL PISSED! YOU ARE SUSPENDED FOR TWO WEEKS! Now close my door from the outside. And if you have no idea what to do with the free time, there is someone in need of a ride to Crafton…
Damn, Gasmea is really huge. When are we there?
Possibly tomorrow noon… Sarah, go to sleep, the next driver change is with you.
And indeed, they bring Harry to his brother´s place, a run-down gas station, and then to the department where he is reporting for duty.
I can´t believe they made you a Lieutenant.
Well, Schneider seems to have been fond of me, despite telling the opposite all the time.
I guess he just wanted to make sure they take you and he is really getting rid of you.
Or that, Frank! By the way, my new ride. A Fowler Buckshot. How is that compared to those boring Primus?
Well, as future HAUPTkommissar… I might have the possibility for an acquired taste and a special order.
We had a hell of a run, partner.
Yep, Harry, but the last three years with you were the hardest! How long has Schneider given you to do the escort service for me?
Two weeks.
We will drive home in one, Harry. YOU SNORE!

S01E04: Wurst Case
Trigger Warning: This is supposed to be an accurate 90s cop show and modest violence seen in these things. Please make sure this is suitable for you before reading.
A RAUK Vanir Turbo convertible suddenly speeds out of a factory, in the very early morning. A man with a Fulgur Fenja runs to his car and tries to chase the RAUK.
Damn, why was she at the wrong time at the wrong place? I was just changing the labels!
This certainly is a chase now. Well, let´s hope I get her before the police gets us.
Both cars speed up on Berlaus A-11 inner city ring.
Suddenly, heavy rain sets in, and the inexperienced driver in the RAUK spins.
The crash is very heavy, the car flips after the impact into the barrier, and the Fulgur driver slows down, but speeds up again when he sees other cars coming to the scene in his mirror.
Half an hour later, Kriminalhauptkommissar Rainer Sordel and his assistant, Kriminalkommissar Frank Batimus, are almost at the scene.
So, Kasallek said that it is a case for us?
Yes, Rainer. Before the driver fell into coma, she said “He poisons the sausages!”. To me, this sounds like a serious criminal case.
So, not an accident?
At least they found tire marks of two cars. There was someone else involved.
Helmut, Rudi! What do we have?
It´s Stefanie Kaiser. The daugther of…
THE KAISER?
Yes, Rainer. THE Kaiser. The sausage king. Half of Berlaus Currywurst stands belong to him, and he has an own factory, so…
…“he poisons the sausages” has some weight?
Yes, Frank. Anyway. The tire marks of the second car… hm, a bit on the wider side.
You don´t keep up with a RAUK with a Betterdeals, that´s for sure.
After the usual crime scene work, Rainer and Frank head back to the department.
So, how is the plan?
I am driving to the hospital, to get an update when we can have an interrogation with Miss Kaiser. You, eeeh… you need to drive to Mr. Kaiser. Be careful, he knows a lot of very influential people and I do not want trouble with Boehme. Maybe Kaiser is blackmailed and the accident of his daugther was meant to put pressure on him.
At the hospital, Rainer does not get any good news.
What do you mean with… traumatic brain injuries?
She flipped in a convertible made of fiberglass… it is VERY questionnable if she wakes up again, and if she does… it is doubtful that she will remember anything. It is even doubtful that she will leave this hospital by herself.
Oh shit. So…
Yes, inspector. Permanent care case, unless there is a miracle. But there is something I can tell you. Someone repeatedly called to get information about her state, and that very aggressive.
The attacker, who wants to know if she will be able to tell anything about the crash and the po… eh, the reason for the chase?
Exactly, inspector.
Chief inspector, madam.
At the same time, Frank arrives at the Kaiser sausage factory, where the patriarch is currently in his office.
POISON? No, impossible. I have strict quality controls. I am advertizing it all by myself, my face on local TV, MY VOICE IN THE RADIO, MY NAME IN THE NEWSPAPERS! ARE YOU QUESTIONNING THE INTEGRITY OF CLAUDIUS KAISER?
Calm down! Your daughter has almost died! It is not about your adverts, whoever your daughter met was not joking.
Yes, you are right. But I am not blackmailed, I promise. May I visit my daughter now?
Sure, we can continue the interrogation later, where and when?
1 PM, at my house?
Sure, I will be on time. Good luck, Mr. Kaiser.
Soon after, Rainer and Frank meet up near the S-Bahnhof Turmstraße.
So, not our usual Currywurst stand?
NO, FRANK! Our usual one is run by Kaiser, and…
You are afraid to be poisoned?
Me, AFRAID? NO! I just… eeeh… want to try out something else today, I felt like it… Let´s order something and then we proceed to Kaisers mansion and wait there for his arrival.
After eating up, the duo starts driving off, but then notices something suspicious: A cyclist stealing a suitcase out of a Saarland convertible.
RAINER! NO!
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO INSTEAD? LETTING THAT HAPPEN?
NOT YOUR 180s AGAIN!
THEY ARE EFFECTIVE! SEE THIS!
Ambulance! AMBULAAAAAANCE!
Rainer, that looks not too good indeed. You broke him both arms!
Good, that means he won´t steal for a while.
RAINER!
Frank, I have so many formal complaints that one more does not count… LADY! HERE IS YOUR SUITCASE! In a convertible you really should not put your stuff in the back seat. A better place would be the trunk.
THE TRUNK, RAINER?
Yes, the… FUCK! YOU ARE TOTALLY RIGHT FRANK! LET´S GO!
I must admit. We should have checked the wreck more in depth, then we would have found the stuff in the trunk. I bet there are some interessing documents.
What documents, Frank?
Kaiser stated that his daughter studes economics, and that she works in his company.. in the finance department. So, she must have seen something there, and that´s usually??
Suspicious documents, yes. Good work, Frank.
But the Fulgur driver already appears at the junkyard, setting the car on fire with a gasoline canister and a match…
Rainer and Frank arrive just two minutes later, but it is too late:
CRAP! WE ARE TOO LATE!
Damn, whatever was in there… it´s gone now.
Correct. Frank, don´t waste time, we continue to Kaisers mansion. He HAS to answer our questions now. This is something big.
At 1 PM, the inspectors arrive at the adress, and, as promised, Claudius Kaiser awaits them.
I AM NOT BLACKMAILED AND MY SAUSAGES HAVE NO QUALITY ISSUES!
Mr. Kaiser, then name us ONE GOOD REASON WHY YOUR DAUGHTER WOULD HAVE STATED THIS! And why is the car wreck burned down? Why are there suspicios calls at the hospital? WHY?
I HAVE NO IDEA!
Anyway, do you know someone driving a black sports car? Rear engined, at least this is what the junkyard employee saw.
Hm… rear engined? No…
BUT I SEE IT, RAINER! Look out of the window! Standing there like …
… a monstrance in the church! Incredible. Let´s get that dude, this can not be a coincidence! WE ARE NOT DONE, KAISER! WE COME BACK!
Rainer and Frank run to their car, and as turning is difficult in the narrow road, Rainer speeds up full reverse.
RAINER, WATCH OUT! THE ASCOT THERE!
Mimimimi, tHe AsCoT… Frank, grow balls and inform the department about the chase! Have you got the plate?
It would be helpful if we could get any closer at him again…
Dear god! GET GLASSES!
And why did you not check the plate?
BECAUSE I AM DRIVING. AND WHO STOOD AT THE WINDOW AND HAD ENOUGH TIME? YOU!
Mamba 12 for Mamba 12-2, please respond. In pursuit of a black Fulgur Fenja, driving on the Finkenallee eastbound. Requiring assistance and… AAAAARRRGH! Correction! Soutbound on Burgstraße! Registration is Berlau-Alfred-Theodor-six-four!
Damn, why is he changing the direction all the time?
He knows we have to update other units all the time on the radio and it confuses them. That man is not a beginner.
RAINER! CRASH! SLOWER!
I DO! The brake pedal feels weird. Damn Primus, it´s only a few months old.
He is heading to the A10. Mamba 12-2 for Mamba 12, suspect heads towards the A10. We will update you on the direction he takes.
Crap, the cops still have not crashed? Now. this must help now, when they have to stop from high velocity! DAMN VAN! DRIVEEEEEEE!
Suspect entered the A10 clockwise. Rainer, why? He will be caught easily on the highway, even if he has a faster car and can outrun us, we can block the road easily now.
I think he is aware of that. There, he already goes for the next exit!
Mamba 12-2 for… RAINER, BRAKE! SLOW DOWN FOR FU…
I CAN´T! THE BRAKES FAIL! I USE THE HANDBRAKE NOW!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!
The car spins at still well over 100 kph, but slams into a huge bush that scraps the paint a bit, but otherwise stops the car very softly, at least compared to the trees nearby…
DAMN! That was close… Are you fucking crazy, or what?
FRANK! I BRAKED AS HARD AS I COULD! This was mechanical failure. Call the towtruck, this chase is over. I WANT THIS CAR GETTING CHECKED IN DEPTH NOW!
Rainer… Do I really want to comment on this, or…
THE CAR FAILED, BOSS! But I had it towed to our mechanics, and…
our tow truck drivers know THAT route very well thanks to your driving skills. Yes. Anything positive?
We have checked the registration of the Fulgur. A mister Jens Unger. From the data we could collect, he is a loner and has no job, yet owns a house and a sports car. I was just about to check the adress before you called me in.
All right, then do this and report later.
Now this is really the last corner of Berlau.
The wall used to be here, now that it is gone, there is some free space, and they built this residential area four years ago. Frank, left here in that small alley!
All right.
Hm, nobody there. And it looks so unsuspicious…
FRANK, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? An advertizing banner on the roof? “PROFESSIONAL KILLING CORPORATION, ONE SHOT, BLEEDS A LOT?” Of course they live under the radar. Initiate the manhunt, get us an image of him and inform all units in and around Berlau. We are done for today.
The next morning, Rainer gets a call from the police mechanic, stating that he found something on Rainers patrol car. Frank makes a fuel stop, and Rainer finally rants about the “passengers”.
IS THAT A POLICE CAR OR A GARDEN?
Rainer, I never realized how much plants are a friend of humanity. They save lives! Our accident really changed the way I see them.
You are out of your mind. Just shut up and drive me to our service garage…AND THEN BRING THEM TO YOUR HOME!
So, Ulf, what did you find?
Brake line has been cut. You could brake a few times, but one real hard pedal stomping, and the fluid was drained.
So, that fugitive drove on purpose onto the highway and then to that exit to…
Kill you, yep.
BASTARD! Anyway, is it fixed now?
I still need a new set of tires for you, and … well, you were not nice to your car. If you really need a car, there is a patrol car over there, it´s just done servicing.
I AM NOT GOING TO A COSTUME PARTY! I NEED AN UNMARKED ONE! What about that thing there?
It´s BRAND NEW! No!
KEYS, PRONTO!
The first destination for Rainer is the hospital.
So, you have kept the clothes?
As possible evidence, yes. We were very cautious.
Good. Can you perform a check for me?
Sure, what is it?
And you are completely sure?
Yes, traces of Multipropylsad.
Of… eh, what?
Multipro…
DOCTOR!
It is a substance that tastes very, very well and is cheap to produce, but it is known to cause cancer and therefore forbidden.
Ewww. Was there an use case for it in the food industry?
Of course. At least it was planned, but thankfully never introduced. It tastes like fine meat, and is used as an addition to very cheap meat and make it taste like best quality. You could sell dog food as finest ragout. The company that developed it killed quite some mice with that and never put it on sale. Inspector, why are you feeling sick? INSPECTOR?
I ATE DAILY AT KAISERS FOOD STANDS! HYYYYYUUAAARRRGGGHHH!
Later that day, Rainer and Frank lead some police units that have a search warrant for the Kaiser company. The offices as well as the storages.
Rainer, how did you get the thought to get the clothes checked?
We assumed that she found just documents, because she was working in finance. But, what if she looked for the poison as well? I mean, if that was my fathers company, I would immediately look for it.
Damn, you are right. So, let´s confiscate everything we can get.
Later, in the department, Rainer and Frank check the documents.
Frank, you studied law, correct?
Yes, why?
I need your knowledge. I have no idea how to check these documents. But calling assistance from the economic fraud unit for this would take ages and we do not have that time.
I can check, yes..
I suggest you find someone else to feed your plant pets tonight. This will take a while.
Frank finds out that half a year ago, cheaper meat was ordered for a much lower price. Still, the sales remained stable. And Rainer and the chemists found Multipropylsad, disguised as curry powder. Rainer confronts Claudius Kaiser with the results.
NO! IMPOSSIBLE!
THIS IS THE TRUTH! AND I WILL ARREST YOU ON THE SPOT!
Please not! My daughter needs me.
THEN TALK!
Ok, ok.. so, a Dr. Brandt stepped up to me, saying that he is an expert at economic optimization in the food industry. Actually, I wanted to let my daughter do that after she has her university degree, but.. it was tempting. He wanted 20 percent of the savings as payment. That is a lot, but.. I mean, 80 percent are for me, it sounded good.
DR. FERDINAND BRANDT? Damn, he worked for Lénest, the company that developed that poison and never used it. Crap, he took the severance pay as well as his poison and sells it now to smaller companies and disguises that as improved reciepe! Who is responsible for the reciepe in your company?
Me! But, hm, the man checking the ingredients is Gerd Unger.
Unger, Unger… where have I heard that name in this case… AH DAMN! NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE. Does he have a brother?
A younger brother, yes, why? Now that you say it, it was Gerd Unger who convinced me to hire Dr. Brandt…
Rainer orders a 24/7 surveillance of Dr. Brandt, taking the first shift himself. The next morning, Brandt starts from his house in Friedwald, near Berlau.
Mamba 12-3 for Mamba 12-2, please respond. Suspect is heading south. I keep you updated.
After an hour, they arrive at a construction site near Werlitz.
Frank, he turned into some place on the L55. Where are you?
Not far away, And guess who drives in front of me?
Gerd Unger?
No, but his brother.
JACKPOT!
They meet up, and Dr. Brandt gives Jens Unger a suitcase with money, possibly his salary to eliminate Stefanie Kaiser and at least try it on Sordel and Batimus. Rainer interrupts the payday.
FREEZE! NOW I GOT YOU! I SHOULD SHOOT YOU RIGHT HERE FOR POISONING ME AND RUINING BERLAUS MOST FAMOUS SNACK!
While Dr. Brandt freezes, Unger runs to his Fulgur, and Rainer can only get one of them - and decides for Dr. Brandt, since Frank waits outside for Unger.
But Unger already suspected this and turns left, and Frank has to follow, therefore leaving the entrance to the property open - while Rainer uses his handcuffs to attatch Dr. Brandts arms to the rim of his car.
Franks tactical error was used by Unger, and he speeds off the property without considering a look left and right - so he gets into the way of a Nonozo that collides with him.
The crash makes the Fulgur stall, and Unger fails to restart the engine - in the meantime, Frank got out with his gun pulled, and also Rainer, having arrested Dr. Brandt, is there to ensure that his partner gets the fugitive now.
The next week, Frank drives to a food stand in Berlaus center.
Finally a Currywurst stand that was not on the list of Brandts customers.
Have you checked twice, Frank?
I did. And check the location, taxis all around. The best street food is where the taxi drivers are.
But I still don´t have appetite. Stefanie Kaiser has still not woken up. What is her sense of living then, if this is forever?
Isn´t it obvious, Frank? Her purpose is being a memorial. A memorial for what greed and the obsession for profit causes. Especially for her father. Damn, Kaiser used to be a landmark of Berlau… He might not be liable, but he got his punishment, too.

S02E02: Enemy from the Past, Part 1
Trigger Warning: This is supposed to be an accurate 90s cop show and modest violence seen in these things. Please make sure this is suitable for you before reading.
BERLAU, 1976
A car escapes from a police vehicle - so far a daily routine in Berlau.
Despite a crash the driver is able to keep the patrol car behind, but is also not able to shake it off.
Tango for Tango 10-17, suspect has crashed but is still going. Is the mouse trap prepared?
Roger, Tango 10-17. We direct him with roadblocks to the Uferchaussee. There we will grab him.
Right there, where the police plans the arrest, a special unit awaits the suspect.
Paul, do we really need that rifle? Don´t be nervous on the trigger.
Dietrich, what if he is armed? Do you want to give the widows the condolences?
The suspect is indeed stepping in the trap, and directed to the edge of the riverbank. He stops and exits the vehicle. One of the special unit cops suddenly fires.
PAUL! NO! HE IS UNARMED!
The man is instantly dead, with the two special unit officers arguing.
WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE?
I thought he was grabbing a firearm. Shit.
HE GRABBED NOTHING! HIS HANDS WERE IN THE AIR! PAUL, THIS WAS MURDER!
BERLAU, 1995
Mayor Hauke Bruns recieved a letter. One million Hetvesische Mark, or his involvement in a scandal from 1976 will be revealed. Despite being nervous, he rips the document apart and burns it.
At the same time, Sarah Maier is in Kriminaloberrat Boehme´s office.
So, your six month training on the job have ended, and I have your evaluation from chief inspector Sordel right here. I asked you to join me to discuss this now.
Yes, I´ll clear my desk within an hour, I have understood…
STOP! Sordel is tough, but he is fair. He noted down PLENTY of issues, but he also did that with Frank. All of this on the list has a fix: Experience. Therefore he recommends keeping you here in the rank of inspector, and also as his partner to gain that experience that simply can not be gained overnight.
What does this mean for Frank?
Well, Frank might be transferred to Teberau. They do not have criminal investigators there at the highway patrol yet. I doubt that I will get the fundings for an assistant for Frank. Having three inspectors simultaneously is already… maxing out the budget. On the other hand, you seem to work well as trio.
The next day, a Nonozo Ascendente GT stops at a bridge over the A10, the outer Berlau City ring. The driver seems to analyze his surroundings, then gets back into the car and loads a precision rifle.
Suddenly the tire of a Paige bursts, which leads to a crash on the A10 - right in front of that bridge.
Mamba 12-2 for Mamba 12, please respond. Accident on the A10 clockwise near exit Dieselstraße. Caller mentions weaponfire, this is a case for the detective investigators.
Understood and on our way.
Sarah, you are leading that investigation now, and I will watch, after repeatedly telling me you need no babysitter.
FINALLY!
Your thoughts, then?
The driver had the tire shot, at least this is what he told. So, the best place would be that bridge up there. And from the tire marks we can see where exactly the spin started, so… the bullet must be somewhere there, if not stuck in the rim.
Good. Then, move it! I will collect the withness statements from Helmut and Rudi.
The bullet was found and handed out to the inspectors for an analysis.
The town hall, eh? I bet Boehme is already called in by the major.
Sarah, you are TOO FAST AGAIN! How can you assume that this is a random sniper terrorizing Berlaus drivers without doing a background check of the victim? Did you request information on Gerhard Stoll? NO? But I did, and it will be there when we come back from the forensic scientists.
Sordel, your sniper has used some antiques.
Hm?
The bullet belongs to a Keckler and Hoch BEK-65P. Used by the Berlau special police force, the SEK - until 1983.
Wait, so our sniper is a police officer?
SARAH! It does just mean that our sniper has ACCESS to decommissioned police weapons, not that he is an officer.
Back in the department, Rainer gives Sarah another lecture.
You know what? MAYBE there is a cop randomly shooting on motorists. MAYBE! Do we have proof to make such a statement? NO! It is one possible outcome from… at this stage… 500? We have to work systematically to get the 500 possibilities down to… hm, maybe a hundred?
Since Mr. Stoll is totally unsuspicious and can not even imagine about an enemy shooting at him, we must get more information about that weapon, I bet it is the key. I tried to look up all thefts of that model, but it seems all decommissioned rifles have been destroyed as ordered.
Ahahahaha, Sarah, never trust protocols. But I know who deals with such weapons, and where we can find him. Join me at 10 PM here again.
In the night, Rainer directs Sarah to a very shady place.
Nocturngasse. Red light district of Berlau. Here, the scum piles up like the flies around shit.
And here is that weapon dealer?
Sure. That bar over there, the Paradise. Or, called among insiders, “Gangsters Paradise”.
Sarah, why so fast? Haven´t you forgotten something?
No, why?
A cop going in Berlaus most dangerous bar without backup? Do you want to meet your father today up there in heaven?
RAINER, THIS…
Is rude? Maybe, but it is the truth. But I arranged everything. FRANK, DO YOU HEAR ME? ARE YOU ON STANDBY?
With two other units one block further, yes. If you don´t give a signal in 15 minutes, we will all storm in and grab every single thing there until we find you.
Roger, Frank. So, Sarah, NOW we can get in.
The interrogation reveals that weapon dealer Hagen Henschel might know the assassin: A former SEK member who went underground after a failed operation. But - no name, no face…
The next day, mayor Bruns gets another letter.
Dear Mr. Bruns,
You might remember the shadows that floated like a black cloud over West-Berlau in the seventies… Today I decided, that I deserve a better compensation. To the one million Mark that I requested from you personally - and you have that, you profited well from power and intrigue - I want an additional three million from the city of Berlau - otherwise more unfortunate accidents on the A10 will happen.
Yours sincerly, a man you fooled.
Hauke Bruns also destroys this letter, as it indicates him covering up a scandal and knowing the asssassin, then writes a more neutral one… and calls Kriminaloberrat Dietrich Boehme, the leader of the Berlau Highway patrol and his criminal investigation squad. Bruns also altered the asked sum to five million - he is not interessed in paying the one that was demanded from him personally by himself, and also wants another million for himself at that opportunity.
Mamba 12 for Mamba 12-1, respond! Call in Sordel, Batimus and Maier for an urgent appointment. I am now driving to Berlaus mayor since the city is now blackmailed in the highway sniper case. I want them in my office in two hours.
Roger.
Now this is an expected outcome, since the victim of the shooting was totally unsuspicious.
Mr. Boehme, I want to be informed about every single step in that investigation. Inform me PERSONALLY. And nobody else, is that understood?
Sure, sure…
Meanwhile, the white Nonozo is already back on the highway, looking for a good spot for a next attack…
In the evening, the car stops at another A10 highway bridge, this time southwest of Berlau.
The driver of an older Cavaliere Nobile is surprised by his tire bursting, and spins uncontrollably, resulting in another pileup. Again, nobody is seriously injured.
The Nonozo driver escapes unnoticed, while the team of Mamba 12 arrives a bit later at the scene and finds again a bullet fitting to that specific old precision rifle.
The next day, the briefing between Boehme, Rainer and Frank reveals something long forgotten.
The same bullet, boss. I guess the sniper wants to add some weight to his demand.
We have so far an ex-elite cop that went underground after a failed operation, and that rifle was in use between 1965 and 1983. I bet the sniper got that model, because he is well trained on it, but was not active after that time period, hence can not operate a more modern one with the same skill.
Yes, Frank, that is a very good point… Now I think that I know who we are looking for. I used to be part of the SEK between 1973 and 1985 before passing the test for the upper career levels and becoming a desk person. In 1976 we had problems with leftist groups taking possession of houses that were determined to be demolished or renovated, in the housing crisis. The senator of the interior was Mr. Bruns back then.
The mayor?
Yes, mayor Bruns. Anyway, there was a young journalist named… eeeh… Jürgen Menzel. He was part of that leftist movement and said to be participating in anti-police demonstrations, that also became violent, so he was arrested. He escaped with his car, and was caught, but my partner, Paul Krause, shot him. In my opinion, it was murder. Mr. Menzel was unarmed and his involvement in riots never proven.
And Krause is that person who went underground?
Yes. Well, the political climate was very conservative and against the leftists, but that assasination turned it all over. Krause said he was forced by Senator Bruns to kill Menzel, but nobody believed him. He escaped to Frunia, where he was caught in 1985 and sentenced to ten years in prison.
Which… would be over JUST NOW!
Yes, Rainer. He was released from prison seven weeks ago.
Was there an investigation against Bruns?
Frank, WHY? That was a simple defense claim without substance.
I am not sure. Maybe we should check on Bruns.
ARE YOU CRAZY? Do you want to end our careers?
Boss, I must admit that Frank is right. We are cops, not cowards. Requesting permission to observe Major Bruns.
Since the case has the highest priority, I can demand more personnel. Frank, you will get an assistant. Rainer, you will take Sarah later and proceed to the archives. The case files are stored with a very restricted access, I will make sure you get access.
After that briefing, Boehme has a word with Sarah.
Look, I know it is difficult to be just the assistant. But the purpose of it is learning. I can only repeat myself. Step back in line behind Sordel and Batimus and watch them, and you will become equally successful. And stop eating and smoking in the cars! This is disgusting. For now, since you have a growing number of tasks independent from chief inspector Sordel, I have ordered you an own vehicle from the car pool that will be available soon, and the Baumhauer will undergo some professional cleaning then. DISMISSED!
Meanwile, major Hauke Bruns tries to convince the city council to pay the five million.
Wasn´t that your wording, that a city must never be vulnerable to blackmailing?
Yes, but… think about the countless lives in danger. And at the money handover, police experts will be present.
Bruns is right, no politician keeps his word anyway, but we can protect Berlaus citizens while we gain time for the investigators if we agree on the demand for now, as a trick.
It is 5 to 3 AGAINST an answer to the blackmailer. Mayor, you should consult your senator of the interior to think of a strategy for the police.
An hour later, Rainer and Sarah are on their way to the archive.
You think Bruns is involved?
Frank has a point. I mean, something about all of this is wrong. The mayor, formery senator of the interior and therefore also security and police matters, calls in Boehme, who was the senior partner of the person that is now blackmailing the mayor and accused him of giving the assasination order? That is very intransparent.
Do you think that Boehme is involved?
That risky thought came to my mind as well, but I doubt it. Why would Boehme actively lead us to that trace if he had something to hide? We better wait for Franks update, he is now cheking what we have about Paul Krause.
Mamba 12 for Mamba 12-3, please confirm: Now heading to Miss Brigitte Seiler, who is said to be the current partner of Paul Krause, adress is Chausseestraße 102.
Suddenly, when Rainer and Sarah were almost there, a bullet was fired at their front left tire, and hits it prefectly. The Baumhauer spins, but thanks to Sarah being trained at driving and an AWD system of the modern car, no collision happens.
SARAH! THERE! A WHITE TWO-DOOR SPEEDS OFF!
Yes, but you won´t change the tire against the spare wheel fast enough I guess.
I don´t need to… HEY, YOU! OUT! YOUR VEHICLE IS CONFISCATED! GET OUT!
Rainer manages to close up on the escaping car, a 1986 Nonozo, and stays close behind him in an intense chase through Berlau.
But the city patrol reacts too slow, and instead of blocking the fugitive, they miss him by centimeters and instead cut off Rainer… who is not very pleased about losing the suspect.
At the same time, Frank interrogates Brigitte Seiler.
No, I have no idea where Paul is.
HE IS A POTENTIAL MURDERER! You are guilty yourself if you cover him up, and something worse than written-off cars happens, I hope you are aware of that.
Inspector Batimus, as I said, I only loosely know him from a letter friendship with prisoners. I am very lonely, and just wanted nice contact with someone as isolated as me.
I still do not believe you. Since you can not show me your car, I will put it on the wanted list.
So, is there anything else, or can I proceed feeding my cats now?
Later, at the office:
Frank, she drives WHAT?
A white 1986 Nonozo Ascendente GT, registration Berlau…
MM 55? Yes, GREAT. That just escaped from me today, after shooting on us. HOW ABOUT PUTTING SOME PRESSURE ON THE LADY TO TELL US WHERE KRAUSE IS?
Good idea, Rainer. With a gun? Or waterboarding? Or should I cut her one finger after the other off? Don´t forget that we still need her tounge to get a testimony. HOW ABOUT DRIVING BETTER NEXT TIME TO GET HIM?
ENOUGH! RAINER, IN MY OFFICE!
Sure, captain…
Besides arguing, what have you done so far?
Helmut and Rudi are observing Miss Seiler now, in my car and civillian clothes. Sarah will drive to the archive tomorrow, after todays interruption. He won´t stop us…
Rainer, I doubt that Krause shot on your tire specifically. It was just pure coincidence that he has hit a cop car. And this was his crucial error, where we get him. He cannot hide at Miss Seilers house anymore, and his car is revealed. There are not many white Ascendente GTs in Berlau.
Yes, but that also means he must act faster and more reckless, as he is running out of time, if he wants his cash.
Yes, that is worrying. Anyway, tomorrow you will get a Kriminalobermeister Stefan Behrendt as support. Or better said, Franks assistant. You can then relieve Helmut and Rudi of these duties and let them do their usual patrols, so that we discover the white Ascendente faster.
Yes, boss.
In the evening, Dietrich Boehme arrives home.
But after entering his house, he is unpleasantly surprised: Paul Krause surprises him:
NOW I HAVE YOU, DIETRICH! You let me down! And now is the time to regret it.
You are out of your mind! Give up before it is too late.
Shut up! You knew I was saying the truth, yet you lied in court that Bruns did not order me to do it.
There was no proof! A recorded call, a letter, a notice… ANYTHING! But you did your own thing there.
Bruns promised me a good career if I shoot Menzel. Under the ultra conservative mayor Spröde, Senator Bruns thought that he would be celebrated for the death of that leftist pest. But no, the public mourned the journalist, the climate was changing against the plan, and I was presented as the guilty one. But four million Mark seem an adequate compensation, and you will be my prisoner until I get the money. No, I won´t kill you Dietrich, killing Menzel was an error that I will never ever repeat. The blood on the hands can´t be washed off.
And the fifth million is then for the relatives of Menzel, as compensation, or what?
What fifth million?
Now THAT is interessing now.

Trigger Warning: This is supposed to be an accurate 90s cop show and modest violence seen in these things. Please make sure this is suitable for you before reading.
All right. Frank, you come with me. Nothing against you, Sarah, but Krause is experienced and maybe dangerous. I just want to have the better-trained partner here. The best friend of Brigitte Seiler, so, Krauses partner, rented a small cheap apartment here in east Berlau right after Krause was released. All persons visiting Seiler during the observation were checked in depth and thanks to your overtime working, we have a hint now. Sarah, Mr. Behrendt - you drive to the BKA archives since I was distracted last time.
Urgh, what a bad area. Mamba 12-4 for Mamba 12-3, are you already at the archive?
Mamba 12-4 to Mamba 12-3, we just arrived.
Roger. We too. Please take your mobile phone with you, in case we need backup. We are now entering.
Rainer and Frank search in the apartment, but Krause is not there. He might have sensed that with the identification of the white Nonozo, his hideout might be discovered.
At the same time, Behrendt discovers something interessing…
The partner of Krause was Dietrich Boehme, damn.
We already know that, Stefan.
Yes, but in the trial against Krause… Boehme made a testimony against him, that there was no indication for a shot. That was the final coffin nail on Krauses freedom.
So?
Sarah, HE MIGHT TAKE REVENGE NOW!
Right, we call Rainer now.
Rainer and Frank speed off immediately to Boehmes adress.
FRANK, YOU ARE DRIVING LIKE A GRANDMA!
I have already 10 points on my license.
And that makes 11 now, that was a red light.
HURRY UP! Boehme did NOT show up today, still not after we left. He might be in danger!
After a fast and dangerous driving through Berlau, they arrive at Boehmes house.
Frank, crash through the gate, we don´t have time.
The inspectors find Dietrich Boehmes wife, Hannelore, locked in the bathroom, but unharmed. She tells the two that Boehme had been kidnapped by Krause, but without unneccecary violence.
Will my husband die? Tell me the truth!
Mrs. Boehme, if he wanted to kill… he would have done it. So, I think he is alive and fine - for now. The plans of Krause remain vague to us, at least with that.
Rainer, I bet he wants the money fast for an escape. I order Behrendt to observe the mayor.
Good idea!
Meanwhile, Krause stops his car at the Uferchaussee.
What are you doing? Why do you stop here?
See, Dietrich? Here it happened, 19 years ago.
What is the purpose of you forcing me to come with you? Nostalgia? What do you want?
Do you think that you did the right thing backstabbing me?
I only told what I saw, and that was murder. When it is true what you told, the backstabber is Bruns, having given you the order.
Exactly. And you call Bruns now.
Why? The city does not pay anything.
Tell Bruns that you found the proof for him ordering me to shoot the journalist. And to meet you at a rest area on the A11, the one at Eberberg.
You want to kill him?
No. I killed enough people. Here, a recorder. You make him confess. You are a smart negotiator, Dietrich, you will know how.
A bit later, Kriminalobermeister Stefan Behrend informs the department.
Mamba 12 for Mamba 12-5, Bruns is in a hurry and drives towards the A11. I keep you updated.
Roger. We are on our way.
Mamba 12 for Mamba 12-3, we need reinforcements…
DELAY THAT ORDER!
FRANK! Are you dumb?
No, I am smart! Krause will lose nerves when the whole cavalry shows up. So far, he has had no intention to kill somebody, including Boehme.
And if he wants to kill Bruns in revenge, now that his blackmailing failed?
Then we have to be there already. Put the beacon on the roof, then we are faster!
Bruns and Boehme meet where Krause wanted to, and Boehme bluffs a lot about Bruns´involvement in the shooting of Jürgen Menzel in 1976, but without success.
Boehme, you fool, you know NOTHING!
Bruns, your career is over. Even the possibility of this story being the truth is water in the mills of the press.
Oh, they will never know. Because both of you will be silenced at the slightest inconvenience. You have no idea with who you are picking a fight.
In that moment, Rainer and Frank arrive at the scene, and Behrend assists, but Bruns realizes this fast enough and speeds off, with Frank doing a 180 turn and entering the pursuit.
Krause knows that he is caught as the blackmailer anyway, and does not consider escaping.
Give me your gun, Paul.
I won´t go in prison again.
That is your own fault. Nobody forced you to shoot on innocent people. And blackmail the city of Berlau.
I ONLY SHOT AT TIRES IN 80 ZONES, NOT PEOPLE!
True, but a judge will have to evaluate this in your favour. Come with me now. BEHRENDT! ARREST HIM!
At the same time, the chase between Bruns and the two inspectors heats up.
Suspect merged from A11 to A10 outer ring. WHERE IS THE BACKUP?
Frank, maintain distance. The more pressure, the more danger for others. We have roadblocks anyway and unmarked patrol cars in position to close the ring in our direction. The next exit comes in five minutes, and then… well, a city pursuit will be tricky.
FRANK! STOP! HE SPINS THAT CAR!
I can squeeze through it, I … NO I CAN´T! ARGH!
Now a black TIO Eagle stops at a bridge over the A11. When arriving at that bridge, Bruns is shot with a precision rifle, and tries to stop the car that is now out of control.
The TIO speeds off, and when Rainer and Frank arrive at the scene, they can only find mayor Bruns dead in his car, he died just after he stopped his car.
In the department, Boehme interrogates Paul Krause.
Paul, one last time, WHO SHOT BRUNS?
If I knew who was the big boss here, WOULD I THEN ASK YOU TO SQUEEZE IT OUT OF BRUNS? And then kill him BEFORE he says that he ordered me to do it?
Following illegal orders is illegal too, your sentence is valid in any case.
BUT THE MORAL ONE! I WAS ORDERED TO! Otherwise Bruns would have ended my career.
And then it would have ended, so what? No, you are not the innocent sheep. But my officers will reveal the truth.
Mamba 12-4, arrived at the apartment of Evelyn Köller, the widow of Jürgen Menzel.
The widow tells Sarah that her first husband worked on a story about Bruns and the then-mayor Neidhard Spröde. The latter bought houses for low prices directly from the citys own and low-profit housing association via a third person and money from shady rich circles, then evicting the tenants with the help of the police that was ordered to follow Senator Bruns´orders, assisting Spröde and his accomplices to rent the buildings then for much higher prices. Spröde then threatened the widow too, to take away the child with the help of the child protection agency, so she kept the researches as secret for 19 years.
Frank then visits Neidhard Spröde in his Berlau mansion.
So, you have come to tell me that Bruns is dead? Well, isn´t there that highway shooter? Why do you dare to ask ME for an alibi then? Are you aware who I am? Anyway, I was playing golf.
So, you think it was that guy blackmailing Berlau?
OBVIOUSLY! And now get out, otherwise I will call your boss RIGHT NOW! I know Kriminaloberrat Boehme, and he will follow my orders.
Later, in the department…
You did not tell Spröde that we have Krause?
Of course not, Rainer. He wants to blame the assasination on him. That is propably something we can make use of.
And how?
Krause bluffs and calls Spröde, blackmails him. Spröde will send his killer, and we have to grab the killer then and squeeze a confession out of him, so that we can arrest Spröde.
That is VERY risky, Frank. I mean, I can pass it foward to Boehme, but,
KOR Boehme discusses the matter with Paul Krause.
THIS IS MY DEATH SENTENCE!
I have talked to the DA. Open enforcement of your next prison sentence. You are out between 8AM to 8PM. Three years. If you do it…
This is blackmailing.
No, Paul, THIS IS JUSTICE! Blackmailing is what you did with this city! So, I leave you ten seconds to decide before I walk out of here. 10, 9, 8…
Two days later, the trap is in place. Krause turns towards a sawmill, owned by Spröde, where the money transfer should be done.
Mamba 12 for 12-3, we are watching Krause entering the property soon. Where are the reinforcements?
In place in approximately two minutes, chief inspector Sordel. Ready on your command.
Krause arrives at the meeting point - and the TIO there means that the assasin is in place. Due to stormy weather, he could not find grip on a rooftop and needs to do his job at ground level. The trained former elite cop Krause, in his time as fugitive forced to recognize traps, reacts fast and speeds off when the assassin aimed, and escapes, under heavy gunfire, over a pile of sand that catapults his car into the river - out of the range of the assassin.
The assassin realizes he has a serious problem now and starts his car to get to the road at the river to have a possibility to finish Krause off, but the inspectors and the reinforcements are in place - the job failed, and he is arrested.
Rainer leads the following interrogation.
SPRÖDE IS YOUR CLIENT!
I refuse to name anybody.
Listen, you killed Bruns with the same type of weapon that was used to shoot Jürgen Menzel.
Jürgen who?
Don´t act dumb. Your client needs to have deep knowledge about a case from 1976, and one was already arrested when Bruns was shot, and the other one was the one arresting him, aaand… number three is Neidhart Spröde. We get him anyway, it will just take us longer. You, on the other hand, have only ONE opportunity to escape the life sentence. A deal.
I didn´t kill that…Mr. Bruns.
You did. Every weapon has a specific mark that it leaves on the bullet when firing it. The weapon we confiscated after you shot on Krause leaves the same marks as the bullet our coroner pulled out of Bruns. The projectiles of the highway blackmailers have been fired from another rifle of the same model.
Fuck.
Yes, and we now drive to Spröde, you have a recorder, and you will report fulfilled duty and get your cash, and then we arrest you both. COMPRENDE? Where is the meeting point?
Tomorrow, 8 PM, at his holiday mansion in Meereshofen.
The next day:
Frank, is our killer making troubles?
No, everything is fine. Rainer, Sarah, tell Behrendt to stop two blocks apart from Sprödes street, I will then join him. Rainer, you follow Mr. Pohl to his client.
They do as planned, with Sarah hearing what assassin Pohl discusses with Spröde and following the TIO very close to not get out of reception range.
Mister Spröde, I am here to collect my “salary”.
Have you fulfilled my order?
Yes, Mr. Krause is dead, as dead as Mr. Bruns, and Krauses car is sunk in the river, no evidence left.
Good. My butler will give you a suitcase. Follow me, then.
Now Rainer and Sarah storm into the mansion with guns pulled and arrest the two men.
The episode ends with the quartet enjoying the sunset at the coast, with Frank and Rainer having a final discussion.
Rainer, I have mixed feelings about this case. It was good to get Spröde, and that Bruns is no longer the mayor of Berlau. But, do you have an estimation how many more cases are still unknown?
This one took 19 years to uncover. And that only because Krause was greedy for money. So it is very likely that this was just the tip of the iceberg, Frank.

S02E04: Pied Piper
Frank drives his car in a nightshift, but nothing suspicious happens.
But in a forest, skindheads with knives and torches hunt a person of color, and the young man is scared.
Frank still continues his driving on the A10 outer city ring, when suddenly the low fuel warning flashes up.
Oh crap, highway gas stations at night, that´s for sure expensive.. Boehme will freak out for not refueling in time. Anyway, I am about to fall asleep and a little break and a coffee will help.
Suddenly, Frank hits a person that appeared out of nowhere.
AAAAAAAAAAAAH CRAP!
Sir! HEY! WAKE UP! MAMBA 12 FOR 12-2, AN AMBULANCE TO THE GAS STATION AT KILOMETER 37!
Crap, that a cop! Guys, let´s withdraw. That n…er is finished off anyway!
A bit later, Rainer appeared as well to investigate the incident.
Frank, badge and gun, please.
WHAT?
You have run over a man in the 30 zone. You still had a lot of momentum from the highway speed, looking at the car damage. You were tired, right?
HE APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE!
Frank, I don´t accuse you, but this has to be properly investigated and NOT BY YOU! Hand me that out. If Boehme officially asks you to, he will also confiscate your license. I will say that I forgot that, maybe the boss swallows that. Come on!
The next day, Frank is Sarahs passenger.
Thanks for doing me the favor, really.
You are suspended. If we get seen investigating together… damn, this will be some trouble.
Now that I got a bit of sleep I remember that there was a group of men… with torches.
What?
Yes. I mean, what if this was some kind of crime, and the man escaped and therefore ran directly in front of my car?
So, we search now for evidence in the forest?
Yep, Sarah. This is my only chance to prove I was not acting careless.
HAH! FOOTPRINTS AND BLOOD STAINS! CALL THE CRIME SCIENCE INVESTIGATION!
They are already on the way, you better hide, Frank.
How that?
Rainer called. He wants to see you in the coroners office, as soon as possible. I`ll give you a ride.
So, inspectors, the man is Ndukado Nebeuwa, lived in a refugee camp. The crash itself was very hard, but… at maximum at 50 kph. Severe, but not lethal, the impact did not kill him, it might have helped, but is not the single cause. What killed him was a cardiac arrest.
How, Doctor Leonhard, he was young and healthy.
Inspector Sordel, his adrenaline was so excessive that the heart just stopped. To say that this man had death fear is clearly an understatement. There are nazi symbols cut into his skin, and he has other severe signs of torture that happened one, maybe two hours before his death.
RAINER! THEN I AM NOT WRONG WITH WHAT I SAW!
Frank, WHAT?
I`ll tell you in the office. I assume I get my badge back now?
Yep, Sarah needs her babysitter.
Frank, I have to confess something, but keep it a secret.
Sarah, you like me more than just a colleague? Damn, I was about to…
NO!
Crap.
What?
eeeeeeh… anyway… What is it?
You know that my father died and my mother is alcoholic, and that I was really jealous on everyone and everything, since I thought … everyone else would get more than me? And that I felt alone and angry?
Yes… if you need a shoulder…
FRANK! What I want to say is that… I … eeeh.. well, let´s say I know some Nazi groups from my own experience. But, I left when Boehme showed me a perspective and offered me a police career.
Sarah, you, the red sock, a FORMER NAZI?
PSSSSSSH! I bet the group you search is Stahlhammer because they operate near the highway, exactly where you have hit Nebeuwa.
Where?
Please, inform only Rainer and nobody else.
Promised.
In the evening, Frank appears at the scene.
YOU MORONS! THERE ARE WITHNESSES, HOW ELSE WOULD I HAVE FOUND YOU HERE?
So, cop, why don´t you arrest us? Let me guess: The withness isn´t sure to identify us?
So, you admit threatening the people to keep them silenced, hm?
This is a bold insinuation. I just say that we would be surprised if somebody would have seen us doing illegal things like torturing poor n…gers to death, because we are gooooood citizens.
I will get you, I promise!
But when their meeting is over, Rainer waits outside with a photo camera, secretly collecting faces and license plates for a check of the members.
In the night, Frank gets a call.
BATIMUS, WHO IS IT AT THAT TIME?
Inspector, I thought I might show you some interessing.
WHAT?
Just look out of your window… a little reward for your work enthusiasm, so to speak.
MY CAR! MY FUCKING CAR! STOP IT!
Hahahaha, always remember, inspector, who picks up a fight, might feel consequences. S..g h…l!
A bit later in East Berlau:
Now, that will teach that bastard. What is the plan for tomorrow?
Some Dalluhan that didn´t pay me respect. He didn´t want to give me his cash, and he will give me now the interest rates, too… with them being HIS LIFE!
The next morning:
Frank, WHAT HAPPENED? Yes. Of course we continue, now with even more pressure. I pick you up and give you a ride.
Have you seen the getaway car?
Silver Primus, older model, an Imperator or similar. Exactly what parked yesterday on the factory.
I have the license plate and the corresponding data. But of course they will all cover each other up.
I am well insured, the money isn´t the problem. BUT I HATE THAT THEY ARE SO HARD TO GET!
Frank, people alway feel safe in a group. On the other hand, I hope you feel safe within the police team? Should I order a patrol car to your adress, just in case?
I prefer arresting the morons now. As soon as we are in the office I will call the coroner.
And indeed, the footprints are well intact and could be reproduced, and the blood stains are identified as those of Nebeuwa.
Let´s collect some boots. We start with… The brothers Sandow, Alexander, 23, and Robert, 17. Sputnikstraße 31.
When they arrive, Alexander Sandow just stabbed a dalluhan-looking man, and escapes with his brother in his car. Another skinhead just stands nearby.
WHY DON´T YOU HELP HIM???
Eh, officer, you know how bad the hygiene of these pigs is? What if I get a disease if I touch him?
YOU WILL GET WAY MORE NO…
FRANK! STOP! WE NEED TO GET THE SANDOWS! THE INJURY IS NOT LETHAL! COME!
Mamba for Mamba 12-2, we need an ambulance URGENTLY to Sputnikstraße 31, a stabbing.
Alex, this was the cop from yesterday.
Seems like he isn´t intimidated that easily. But, we will strike back.
Rainer and Frank close up on the old Globus, and the chase goes through East Berlau.
ALEX, WATCH OUT!
SHUT UP! I need to focus!
Damn, this is getting out of hand. We need to push them out of the populated area.
Sure, with what? A broom?
Now we are even deeper in the residential area. I can´t shoot here.
Support units are already informed, that´s a matter of minutes until we have them.
RAINER, WHY ARE YOU STOPPING?
That is a dead end, Frank. That´s just some stairs going down, and I will not ruin my car. Instead, we just let them run into one of the roadblocks. And… I have an idea where they might want to hide.
ALEX, NO!
There is no other way, or do you want to turn back to the cops?
Ok, Robert, here we can hide and torch the car. It´s fucked up anyway. Just let me drive more to the center where we are invisible.
Alex, there is a COP CAR BEHIND US!
Crap! Then we need to escape at maximum speed.
SHIT! WE ARE TRAPPED!
YOU DON´T SAY???
Later, in the office, Rainer has not much luck with the interrogations.
Ok, we might have found no matching shoes for the attack on Ndukado Nebeuwa, since it took us too long, but… we get you for attempted murder on a Dalluhan. Hmm, let me calculate, you are 17 years old. So at the time of release, in… possibly 2005… you would be 27. Damn, these were my best years and you want to waste them in prison.
I did not waste it. I served my country. I do Hetvesia a favour keeping the streets clean of vermin!
Ah, SHUT UP YOU MORON! KASALLEK! GET MR. ROBERT SANDOW OUT OF MY OFFICE, PRONTO! Before I forget my good childhood!
In the evening, Sarah shows up at the meeting spot of the Stahlhammer group.
Sarah! I thought you left us. It has been a long time…
Four years, yes. I needed to disappear, I was about to be caught. But now I can feel safe in Berlau and resume where we stopped.
Good. Well, we lost two comrades to the police today, so we need a reinforcement. Welcome back, Sarah!
Is Ulrich still the boss?
Yes, and Mr. Hugenbeck will meet you tonight for your re-joining test.
A test?
We need to be careful and convince ourselves of your loyality.
In the night, the test is executed… Sarah drives to an adress she was told, with Ulrich Hugenbeck and an assistant closely following.
A GRENADE?
Sure. That´s for a jew that didn´t pay us protection fees. You know, scum lives dangerous.
But, Mr. Hugenbeck, isn´t that against our ideals?
Sarah, even the church allows sinners to buy themselves free, letters of indulgence. So why not these zionists too? The business funds our activities to make Hetvesia great again! Throw it in that store window and drive away as fast as you can. We meet tomorrow again.
Sarah does as ordered, but intentionally throws the grenade in a wrong angle, letting it roll under the parked cars to not bring inhabitants of the building in danger.
Boss, she failed.
Indeed. But we will correct this tomorrow. Let´s disappear now.
The next day, Sarah is awaited with baseball bats.
HEY, STOP IT!
YOU FUCKED UP! YOU DID NOT PASS!
Hey, I am out of practice! I haven´t thrown a grenade for four years, damn!
OK, you will get a second chance. Since you did not chicken out of throwing the grenade, it feels like you just need a good training. Clean our weapons while I think of something adequate.
Still no news from Sarah. I am nervous.
Boehme will give her a lecture, that is certain.
Rainer, what if the Nazis have her? Anyway… here we are.
You bought that old shitbox?
It is a classic! A 1964 Miller Boar…
Not even a V8 and a handling like a sunken fisherboat. Anyway, if it makes you feel better, show me your junk.
Rainer, look. In front of us is a Gasmean car, and in the opposite lane a classic. And what do we have? A Gasmean classic! So I am really on a trend here!
Then, Sarah calls Frank.
Frank? Yes, yes, I am fine. Look, I am at the Stahlhammer group… Not now! I got the weapons as proof, HURRY U…
SARAH? HELLO???
What, Frank?
SHE IS IN DANGER, WE NEED TO ARREST STAHLHAMMER!
Good that it is just ten minutes from here. NOW SHOW WHAT THIS JUNK CAN DO! FASTER!
A shame we can´t continue here to punish you traitor! But, I know a VERY nice spot with EVEN NICER tools. Put that bitch in Baldurs trunk! I will take the weapons with me, I bet the police comes with a whole cavalry to search here.
FRANK! FOLLOW THE CAR! THERE ARE BLOOD STAINS AT THE TRUNKLID!
WHAT? SHIT! IF THEY KILLED SARAH, I WILL…
Frank, don´t freak out. I need you focussed. I doubt that they just shot her. They just got panic since the whole police force is alarmed.
The chase is very intense, but takes an unfortunate turn when Baldur Hess turns into an one-way road and collides with the oncoming traffic…
The following accident blocks the way for Frank, and Baldur Hess escapes with Sarah… unless the inspectors have a good idea.
RAINER! NO! DON´T SHOOT! SARAH IS IN THE TRUNK! What if you kill her?
She is dead if I don´t do this! SHUT UP!
With a keen shot, Rainer hits the lock of the trunk, that now fails and the trunklid swings open. In the following corner, Sarah falls out unnoticed, since Hess is too focussed on keeping the damaged Primus on the road. Rainer and Frank are able to resuce Sarah in time.
The next day:
So, you have your orders!
But, isn´t this a bad getaway vehicle?
Baldur, the thinking part is my job. It is slow, but very durable and almost bulletproof, and goes excellent offroad. We meet as discussed in Werlitz, when everything is done.
NOTHING! The whole building has been cleared, as the car. It was spotted too late.
Frank, I have a plan B. Don´t worry. Let´s just patrol a bit here in Friesdorf, they can´t be that far.
TO ALL AVAILABLE UNITS! BANK ROBBERY IN FRIESDORF. SUSPECTS ESCAPE IN A GREEN ARVA MPV! REGISTRATION FRIESDORF-HEINRICH-HEINRICH - ONE-EIGHT!
The skinheads leave Friesdorf, but Rainer and Frank are already on the way.
HEY; THERE THEY ARE! NOW YOU FINALLY HAVE A GOOD REASON FOR YOUR 180S!
You don´t need to tell me this twice! Pest control is on the way to slay the cockroaches!
But the Skinheads leave the paved road, and even if Rainers Primus can follow on loose terrain, it finally gets stuck in a furrow,
FUCK! ARGH! I HAVE ENOUGH OF THIS! I WANT A HELICOPTER!
No, Frank, we do this differently.
AND HOW?
Trust me.
Werlitz, in the evening:
You got the passports, boss?
Sure. But let´s share the loot first. I know it is not much, but the Friesdorf bank was a low risk heist - there was no way we could do it this fast and easy in Berlau.
Of course, boss. You are a genius.
Let´s drink a bit of good Hetvesian beer to celebrate. 300.000 Hetvesische Mark, not bad.
Yes, PROST! Eh, this tastes weird…Markus, what do you think?
Yes Baldur, it… eeh…
HAHAHAHAHA! AS IF I SHARE THAT MONEY!
So, now they can die a martyr death for their country. Useful idiots, HAHAHAHAHA!
The next morning, at the Berlau airport:
What are we doing here? Ulrich Hugenbeck is long gone, he left the country as soon as he got rid of his idiots.
My sixth sense tells me he isn´t.
DAMN! THAT GUY GETTING OUT OF THE TAXI… It… is…
Yes, Hugenbeck, what did you think? That we arrest Adolf Hinkel? We are 50 years late for that. Follow me, but be careful. I want to get him at the counter.
Hello, Mr. Hugenbeck! Unfortunately, you can´t leave this beautiful country that you want to protect.
My name is Ahlers!
Hahaha, you are not the only one who isn´t who he pretends to be. That passport counterfeiter… is Kriminalobermeister Stefan Behrendt. As soon as Sarah escaped alive, you just HAD TO make one last heist to collect money and then get the fuck out of Hetvesia. And the man silently selling passports on the phone when you had your morning coffee… is my assistant. Bad luck!
RAINER, WHY DIDN´T YOU…
Because I wanted to see your surprised face. Handcuffs, Frank!
Hey, look, that´s not flight 1933 to Porta Minta… looks more like arrest transfer number 1945 to me, what do you think, Frank?
Yes, indeed, and we then drive rrrrrrrrrright to prison!
cars used by @Knugcab, @mart1n2005, @Elizipeazie, @AndiD, @Ch_Flash, @S_U_C_C_U_L_E_N_T, @Hilbert, @azkaalfafa, @Riley, @Angelustyle, @66mazda, @Maverick74, @NormanVauxhall, @DuceTheTruth100, @shibusu, @Dildoplocus, @G_Fera, @oldmanbuick, @Mikonp7, @the-chowi and @moroza
Really good episode. Don’t want to get overly political but for someone remembering a growing neo nazi movement in the 90s almost chilling but feels very realistic for a theme and story back then. Well done.
(Also realistic: How this always was how media portrayed skinheads in the 90s despite only a small percentage being boneheads)
Yes, for the record, not all Skinheads are right-wing thugs, tho I’m not sure that the ones that aren’t would still refer to themselves as such.
How I wish I could feel that the themes in this episode were stuck in the '90s and had no relevance to the present day…
S03E01: Cutn
go
This is a remake of the beginning of the first CSCS, as the quality of the first episode (1 and 2 together) was really lousy compared to now and I wanted to make it better.
Early in the morning, a luxury car driver and a van driver meet up.
See him? Over there.
Yes.
Be fast and efficient. It is a rare match, I compared their files, it fits perfectly. And now, GO!
At the same time Kriminalkommissar Batimus visits the graveyard - he misses his first partner, Rainer Sordel, and finds Sarah there, mourning Rainer as well.
Good morning Sarah, you look like you shouldnt go to work today already.
Frank, I have to. Do you think hiding is better?
Let me drive you to breakfast first, and then we proceed to the department? I will drop you off here again later to get your car.
Meanwhile, two surgeons are doing their work in the old van.
The camera switches from the scalpel to Franks knife, finishing the breakfast.
How is it going with Harald?
Not really someone interessed in team work, and of mediocre intelligence. But, he is good at fistfights, that saved my ass already. I am more curious about our new boss who should appear today.
Later, the van has a tire burst, and flips on the side.
The driver and the surgeons escape with a cooling box, the wreck catches fire.
Just a moment later Frank Batimus and Harald Walkowski arrive at the scene, since the A10 is their usual patrol route, and they put out the fire.
Inside is a operating room with a dead body, with organs removed.
Do you always have such fucked up things at the Highway Patrol?
No. This is… something else, Walkowski.
Call me Harry, damn. How about a beer to get over this unpleasasnt sight? I know a really good bars in Berlau.
I smell that. Oh, look here, a map. With a marked location. Walk… eh, Harry, gloves! And note down where it is.
Support units arrive, and the coroner comes to the conclusion that there was not even anesthesia, and the organs were removed alive. The two inspectors are disgusted and check the surroundings, after passing drivers reported people escaping on foot and being picked up by a large dark sedan.
You see these tire marks? That´s not from an economy car, for sure.
HOLTMANN! Secure the evidence. Harry, get in the car. Our new boss is supposed to be arriving soon.
Frank finds an elder man in police uniform.
Hey, you, officer! The new boss is coming, you better pretend to have something usual to do. Go out on patrol or write reports! The new boss is said to be a strict asshole.
Good to know.
Move it, you heard me!
Inspector Batimus, I assume?
Yes, why? GET LOST, THE BOSS COMES AND YOU STAND HERE LIKE A PACKAGE OF SOAP!
I AM KRIMINALRAT BERND SCHNEIDER, YOU DUMBASS!
But, the… uniform… eeh…
Yes, I know, I do not have to wear it. But guess what? It stands for integrity, respect and dedication. ARE THESE VALUES YOU CAN SHARE?
Sure, boss… eeh.. sorry…
IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF APOLOGIES WOULD NOT BE NECCECARY IN FIRST PLACE, KRIMINALOBERKOMMISSAR BATIMUS!
Ober…
NOT MY IDEA! Under my leadership, you wouldnt have to do more than investigating bicycle thefts! But the press… for them you are a hero. Getting mass murderer Kramer. Revenging your partner who died in an heroic attempt to save a colleague. The PR department wanted me to promote you.
Against your will…
Is it that obvious? Or are you just smart? Anyway, tell me about the case from this morning.
The adress marked in the map… must be over there.
So, you find a piece of a map and directly drive there? What would you have done if they had left a globe in the car?
So, so, import and export…
Export of organs maybe.
Harry, look, a large dark sedan. With muddy tires. Do you have the photo of the site?
This looks very similar indeed. I have checked the plate, the car is owned by Dimitri Stroganoff, the CEO of the business.
So, may we check your alibi, Mr. Stroganoff? Where have you been this morning?
I do not think that I need an alibi, inspector Walkowski.
Oh, sure you do need one, because otherwise it would be too easy for me to get the arrest warrant, and… EH! HE HAS A GUN! FRANK, ATTENTION!
GREAT! Harry, that is not smart interrogating. Now if he escapes with the car, the evidence is lost!
Yes, if he continues like that, there is not much rubber left soon… but don´t worry, I get him.
MAMBA 12-3 FOR MAMBA. IN PURSUIT OF A DARK BLUE PRIMUS IMPERATOR, REGISTRATION BERLAU-DORA-THEODOR-TWO-THREE-TWO! ASSISTANCE NEEDED!
Damn, that guy is fast. Can you shoot?
Not really, if you drive like this. Keep the car straight!
Stroganoff has a grenade in the car… and uses it, blowing the Baumhauer of Harry and Frank up. Miraculously, they both escape almost unharmed.
At the same time, Sarah visits the company that the old Globus Duratrans was registrated last.
No, miss, we brought it to the junkyard. They said they handle the paperwork… here, I have the certificate.
Hmm.. yes, that is the vehicle. With whom have you spoken?
Gerhard Kampe, the owner himself. It all seemed just fine. I have no idea why the car appeared on the highway this morning.
Thanks… that is it for now, I might have questions later.
Kriminalrat Bernd Schneider is extremely angry about the destroyed car and escaped suspect, so Harry spare car is… not to his taste.
Why is there even a jumpstarter in the trunk?
They told me the parking lights do not turn off due to a short circuit, and the battery might be empty someday. Can I drive your car?
NO! Only god knows how Schneider will punish me then if you ruin it as well!
Are you the owner?
Who wants to know?
Walkowski, Kripo Autobahn. We have here a copy of a certificate that you junked a 1976 Globus Duratrans. But it appeared in an accident this morning.
Ah, that one. I got that lately in, it should be over there…
But there is none.
I see that myself. Damn, I have really no clue. Who would steal a damn torture box like this?
So you want to tell us that you have no idea how that happened?
Eh.. yes…
Then give us at least a list of your employees, because someone MUST have taken it - with the fitting key. And.. HEEEEEEEY, MY CAR!
SORRY! I THOUGHT YOU BROUGHT THAT WRECK IN FOR JUNKING!
A bit later…
I bet that he has something to do with it. Debski is a notorious addict, I know him from my time in the drug department. But he is gone and nobody knows where.
The old lady with the cats will call me, I mean, it´s a pensioner. That is the Hetvesian video surveillance.
And now, Frank?
I organized us an appointment at the Hetvesian ministry of health for tomorrow morning. You better wear a suit tomorrow.
I own none. Am I a penguin, or what?
The next morning, they head to their appointment.
Meanwhile, Schneider discusses with Sarah.
I don´t think so. You are clearly not in the state to be of any valuable help. Yes, a few investigations here and there, but your psychological report…
I AM FINE!
First, you risked your life on a silly self-decided undercover mission and were brutally beaten up by a Nazi gang that almost killed you, then you were taken hostage by Kramer because you didn´t pay attention and Sordel died in the rescue mission. I do not say that the death of Sordel is your fault, this would be a very wrong accusation, but I do not think that you have the age and experience to be out there in the first line.
Bullshit! I just have the wrong gender, correct?
If you are this rude to me again, I will transfer you to the uniformed immediately, UNDERSTOOD? I just want to protect you from being killed because you are not fit for the task.
I need no protection. I need my work. And I will do it, you will see. Or is that also rude?
No, it is not. But, I have warned you.
Meanwhile, Frank and Harry arrive at their destination.
ORGAN TRADE? IMPOSSIBLE!
Minister, I would not bring this up if I did not have proof. I suspect that this Mr. Stroganoff kidnaps people on order, with having some crooks doing the dirty work. But… Stroganoff is a butcher, not a surgeon, you know?
No, Mr. Batimus, I have no idea what you are talking about.
The surgeries were done with professional equipment and absolute precision. Medically trained professionals. Absolutely NOT what Stroganoff could do, he is more the man for the dirty work. Stroganoff is not the boss, there is propably a doctor further up in the pyramid.
I see. So, what do you want from me?
Access to all files of organ transplantation of the last months. Especially those who were on a waiting list for a new organ, but then signed off. I mean, you wouldn´t do this if you were still waiting, right?
Mr. Batimus, this could be a scandal if it is noticed by the press. One word to the wrong person, and you will wish you have never been born, inspector! I could lose my minister post, and if that happens, you are a dead man!
Is that a threat?
A promise.
Meanwhile, Sarah searches focussed through all traffic related data, CCTV footages, and much more to find a trace of Stroganoff.
Frank and Harry, on the other hand, have another trace.
You are sure that the informant is reliable?
Yep. Florian Barsch paid all his debt at once. He is studying medicine, but his addiction to pills caused him to be expelled. Now Barsch lives in social housing, but suddenly appeared with an old large Wells and paid all debt, he couldnt even afford a scooter before.
Damn, your old contacts are really useful, Harry.
After ringing, they hear some rumble.
Where is the apartment?
Ground floor I think, why?
SO HE ESCAPES NOW THROUGH THE BACKDOOR OR BALCONY! IDIOT! WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME THAT SO THAT WE COULD SECURE THAT?
Frank immediately speeds off, with Harry informing the department that Florian Barsch escapes.
Barsch causes an accident, but keeps going. This slowed him down, and Frank could get in sight of the fugitive.
Crap! How did they find me?
Frank tries an offensive and wants to do a pit maneuver, but instead just squeezes the Wells into a construction site…
The car falls into a pit and is destroyed, and Barsch manages to get out of the wreck, but then faints.
Crap! Let´s hope his lawyer does not make attempted murder out of that.
He could have just opened the door and talked to us, right Frank?
Yep, true. I do first aid, you call the ambulance.
Later the day, Harry and Frank have a break with hotdogs.
When Barsch wakes up, … what do we have against him, Frank?
Actually nothing. There was no hair, no fingerprint.. nothing inside the van. They worked with professional hygiene standards in that vehicle. But, we don´t have to tell him.
You mean, he would confess?
I hope so, the only things speaking against him are sudden money and his escape. And turn the damn phone off, the beeping interrupts our well deserved break.
In the meantime, Sarah made a background check on Stroganoffs employees. One of them - Fred Willig - learned butcher and moved to an expensive area lately, despite only working as warehouse worker. She tries to inform Frank and Harry to join her.
12-4 to 12-2, where are you? 12-2, I could need assistance. 12-2, please respond. AAAAAARGH, FRANK, HARRY, WHERE ARE YOU?
Sarah arrives at the adress and enters alone, after nobody opened.
Schneider, so much for I can´t do my job. I bet the men eat Currywurst again while I solve the case. Let´s see what is in here.
Suddenly, when she was checking the the rooftop balcony, Sarah was pushed off it, landing hard on her patrol car…

S03E02: Doctor Evil
The news of Sarahs fall spread fast, with Schneider demanding an update from Frank and Harry when arriving at the hospital.
FRANK! What´s the news?
Good news so far, Sarah is not in danger of dying, but… that fall was serious. They say we can´t speak with her before tomorrow.
Damn. Maybe I did a mistake by telling her to do desk work only. Then she might have asked me for backup.
Nah, Captain. She tried to inform us, but we had the phones off and were not in the car. If we heard her call, this would not have happened. The best we can do is resuming work on the case and get that Mr. Willig.
The next morning, Harry is already waiting for Frank.
Uh, this early?
Yep. You remember how we looked for Alex Debski? I made a few calls and now I know where he is. Hiring as smut at some trawler instead of working at that junkyard. Why is he in a hurry to get far away?
Because he knows more than he should, right, Harry?
Yep. Eh, do you have starter cables for me? That junk has a dead battery again.
Frank, do you have any news about the organ recipients? Somebody off the list?
Five. But I doubt that they will tell us who the good samaritan is. But, I have another idea. I mean, it is very unlikely that organs just fit another body, so… you also need profound medical information about the donor. That Mr. Eger that we found dead in the Globus - where has he been treated lately?
Good idea, Frank. I mean, whoever has that information can check for a match with his or her clients.
St.Lazarus, just where Barsch had his practical work while he studied. Thanks for the research, Holtmann.
Frank, SARAH IS THERE!
Come on Harry, they won´t slice her up and take her organs, they know she is a cop. Also, with her smoking habits, the lungs can´t be sold either.
BUT THAT HOSPITAL MUST BE THE KEY IN THIS CASE!
In Ibenhafen, Frank and Harry grab Alex Debski, who tells them that Stroganoff appeared with dead bodies that were put in junk cars and crushed with wrecks - and that he was paid some good money to disappear and shut up.
In the evening, Frank and Harry wait for the results of the forensics, after they found four dead people crushed in cars, but the investigations need some time.
Crap. The coroner says, maybe 3 or 4 days. WE DO NOT HAVE THAT TIME!
Frank, I said, St. Lazarus is the key. I bet they were treated there!
Mhm. We should visit Sarah tomorrow anyway.
The next morning, Frank and Harry drive to the chief medical of the St.Lazarus, Dr. Joseph Heiter.
Doctor Heiter?
Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Heiter, please. What do you want?
Frank Batimus, Kripo Autobahn, my partner Walkowski. We are investigating a crash that revealed a murderer and organ trade. One of our suspects, Florian Barsch, has studied with you as professor, plus he worked with you at St. Lazarus.
So what?
Well, we wanted to ask you a few questions, starting with what do you think about the St. Lazarus being possibly involved in looking for donators for the black market.
LEAVE MY PROPERTY! I will now call my lawyer. These accusations are OUTRAGEOUS!
At noon, Frank and Harry arrive at the St. Lazarus, giving Sarah a bit of emotional support and updates on the case.
Too bad that Barsch did not want to cooperate.
So we have to find Willig next. Or Stroganoff. Harry, do you have an idea?
Hey, you are the superior officer, you are paid to think more than me.
And I do. I tracked down the database of the organ donation program for access from the St. Lazarus. But, nothing special. The organs must have been traded outside the official program. By the way, Eger has no relatives left.
Hm, crap. Eh Frank, Sarah gave me her keys, I should bring her some stuff… see you later.
Later, Harry drives with the bag to the St.Lazarus, while Frank wants to talk with the coroner for updates. Suddenly, a call on the radio alarms them.
ALL UNITS. SUSPECT FLORIAN BARSCH ESCAPED FROM HOSPITAL BY KNOCKING DOWN THE GUARD. BUT HE SAW HIM ESCAPING IN A TAXI. WE HAVE THE REGISTRATION AND UPDATE YOU WHERE IT IS DRIVING TO!
ALL UNITS, THE DRIVER NOTIFIED THE TAXI COMPANY ABOUT A TOUR TO THE NEAREST TRAIN STATION. IT MUST BE CHARLOTTENALLEE THEN!
Mamba for Mamba 12-3, I AM TWO MINUTES AWAY! I AM TAKING OVER!
Meanwhile, Barsch is exiting the taxi and running for the next train.
Only seconds later, Harry arrives.
HE! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
POLICE! WHERE IS YOUR PASSENGER?
Eh, he just went down the stairs to get the train… That one that´s just entering the station!
O JA PIERDOLEEEEEE!
Harry misses the train by seconds, informing all others.
Mamba for Mamba 12-3, he escaped with the U5 to Hauptbahnhof.
Mamba 12-3 for 12-2, I can check some stations if he leaves. Harry, you take the next, I take the one after that, I am in range!
Barsch just wants to enter a Taxi when he sees Frank arriving, and pulls the driver out.
Frank now chases Barsch, who tries his best to block Frank, knowing he has a far inferior car.
MAMBA FOR MAMBA 12-2, WHERE ARE THE REINFORCEMENTS? HE IS NOW DRIVING LIKE A MANIAC TO OPERNPLATZ!
OH CRAAAAAAP!
He pushed me into a vehicle. No casualties. BUT DAMN, HARRY, WHERE ARE YOU? HE IS NOW ON OPERNPLATZ HEADING WEST!
Frank, have you ever driven this slow piece of junk? THEN YOU WOULD KNOW WHY IT TAKES ME SO LONG… Eh, Opernplatz? I AM RIGHT THERE!
OH KURWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Harry crashes head on into Barschs taxi, ending the chase not very efficient, but even more effective.
TO WYSTARCZY! GET OUT! I AM TIRED OF YOU, BARSCH!
Frank checks if someone matching Sarahs parameters is on the waiting list for new organs. And indeed, someone is - with considerable financial background. Sarah then tells Dr. Heiter that she has no friends and relatives, and thinks that besides her busy colleagues, nobody would miss her. She also sneaks after Heiter, watching him if he would offer her organs.
Indeed Heiter discusses with a colleague who is involved in the trade, but since Sarah is very clumsy with two broken arms, she is spotted snooping around and grabbed by Heiter.
DAMN! Now I have to kill you instantly, without having my new rolling operating room. DAMN! ALL THOSE NICE ORGANS AND ALL THAT PROFIT, WASTED FOR NOTHING!
Dr. Heiter speeds with an ambulance away, with Sarah tied up on a stretcher in the back of the vehicle.
In the meantime, Frank and Harry are upset.
HARRY! Sarah has disappeared from the hospital. Nobody knows where she is. And the same for Heiter!
This is bad. I just got a fax from the Frunian colleagues that they arrested Fred Willig in Terso, where he stabbed a pickpocket. He confessed that Dr. Joseph Heiter is the mastermind of the business.
SHIT! She will be as dead as your car!
Damn, Frank, now I know where I forgot my wallet. It is still in the Anhultz. I hope it´s not turned into a cube already…
THIS IS IT! HARRY, YOU ARE A GENIUS!
Eh?
THE JUNKYARD! Where did they drop the empty bodies after selling organs? They will surely try to get rid of Sarah there as well.
The ambulance is still on the way, but closing to the junkyard.
Harry, are you sure it is a good idea to take Schneiders car?
He is at the dentist and we can´t ask, and its the best ride we have here, and WE NEED THE BEST RIDE WE CAN GET!
Mamba 12-1 to all units. Heading to Kruppstraße 16, the junkyard.
Mamba 12-1 for Mamba 12, please confirm: The St. Lazarus reported a stolen ambulance. A 1982 Yamaguchi, registration Berlau-Richard-Kaufmann-One-Two-One-Six.
Soon after, Harry crashes through the gate, and enters the property.
FOR FUCKS SAKE, HARRY!
What? Did you want to ring the doorbell and wait?
THERE! THE CONVEYOR SYSTEM IS RUNNING!
And there is Stroganoffs car! Let´s hope we are not too late. Harry, grab Stroganoff, I deal with Heiter and Sarah!
The ambulance is already placed on the conveyor and is dragged to the press, with Sarah screaming for help from inside. Stroganoff operates the machines, and in an intense martial arts fight, Harry pushes Stroganoff to death.
The machine can not be stopped since the fight between Harry and Stroganoff ruined the controls, but Frank shoots the sliding door open and gets Sarah out of the ambulance before it is turned into a small cube.
FRANK! SARAH! I am really happy to see you two alive… but where is Heiter?
Crap, Harry, Stroganoff left the keys in the ignition, he escapes!
Ah, we will get him sooner or later! The most important is that Sarah is alive!
But then, the cube that has formerly been an ambulance falls off the conveyor - and hits the car, causing an explosion.
The next morning, Bernd Schneider meets Harald Walkowski at the parking lot.
Boss, how was it at the dentist?
A REALLY GOOD QUESTION!
Eh, and… eh, sorry about your car, but…
Walkowski, is that fragment of a Mara your car?
Yes, why?
Well, now I get my mistake. I really shouldn´t have ordered you to treat taxpayers property as if it was your own…
So, eh, you are not angry or what?
I AM! But, eh, at least you saved officer Maier and neutralized two supervillains. Form 38B is the request of a new vehicle, grab one from the secretary. AND BRING ME ONE, TOO, SINCE MY CAR IS ALSO JUNK! Finally I got rid of Boehmes boring wheelchair.
Kriminaloberkommissar Batimus, I hereby hand you out your new badge, now making your promotion official. We did not have much time to get used to each other, and I barely know my team as of now. Mr. Batimus, now that you are the leading investigator, please be a good link between the officers and me as head of the department. I wish us both the best luck for our cooperation.

Seriously impressive props and photography in this one! The ship in the background? The train? The hilariously placed food truck? Thanks for the entertaining read!
I knew that car looked familiar..
I hope @Ludvig is ok.
I think those little things make or break a good episode, since it adds realism to the “gameworld” that this show is set in.
I saw no sense in replacing the old cars, since they were made with some effort back then and are canon for Notruf so far. I don´t think that my own creations always have to be acting in main roles, and I like it when the protagonist use something else than the Primus models.
I also updated some old entries in case I redo older episodes, but this will propably happen outside of this thread and parallel to CSCS4.
With Ludvig, it´s a sad thing. He suddenly left and abandoned a challenge, and he didn´t even log in since then. Its really sad because he enjoyed this challenge a lot and would propably freak out seeing his old creations brought into high quality content now.
