CSR 144 - Serenade [FINISHED]

I noticed that the game version is still under a pending decision. Any progress on the decision?

Oops sorry bout that, just fixed it, thanks!

EDIT: added in a disclaimer about this round, no going back now

Ha ha, everyone here wants to beat each other in the competition! :slightly_smiling_face: I’m in deal!
But to understand where to go, you first have to see the rivals. The organizer announced that we have to present the car in the finest view, on the pages of the magazine.

the lore is cute af man, gg on that. btw, turbos aren’t banned right?

It’s an openbeta challenge, realised that this car uses mods that are incompatible, and i might be withdrawing from it. Might reuse the car for another challenge that is on Stable. stable is not compatible with 4.2 afaik

Yes, I am aware that the developers have arranged a holiday for all the players. But we should try in version 4.2 in new conditions.
Even if catastrophically wouldn’t be suffice various mods.

Maybe when modular headlights come in I might consider

From the footnotes in the post:

Mikki does not like turbos all too much, but if a good enough car with a turbo comes along, he might consider it. But at the same time, he thinks turbos make wierd spinny loud noise that might turn Ashley off, so he’s putting that into consideration when picking a car.

In other words - turbos are legal but potentially not recommended. If you have a good reason to use one, use one. If you’re just adding it on because it’s cool and you wanna use the new stuff… That’s allowed but maybe reconsider.

a little thing:

is Mikki able to operate amanual transmission?

For Sale
1989 Einwagen KC 299 (KompaktCabrio)
5-Speed Manual Transmission
$4368 OBO

Etherea Group’s Most Realistic Car
Not for your average sneaker wearing teen

Its and Einwagen KompactCabrio. To be more specific, the KC 299 model from 1989. This is the premium German soft top that was built for your typical 50 year old man whose more concerned about ride comfort than handling. This example here is presented in Heritage Green-Blue with the optional Faded Yellow Ochre top. It gets a fairly average (for 2018) fuel economy, and it does 0-62 in 7.7 seconds – plenty fast enough for the somewhat elderly from its inline-6 engine. Its a pretty reliable auto so don’t expect much to break, though servicing the car is “a bit” of an expensive affair. We do not expect to be selling these to your typical New Balance wearing teenager – this is more of a chelsea boots than a sneakers affair.

A note from one of the executive from Etherea who had a convertible a few years ago. Regarding the practicality of owning a convertible, if you want to carry large items such as model airplanes or a large dog it is easier to just drop the top and windows and dump it in the back seats rather than faffing with the trunk. Super easy to do especially with an automatic roof. God forbid that you consider putting the dog in the trunk though. Dogs love open top cars  just sayin.

Geeked Out Details (Moderately Long)

Strap on your pantyhose because I am about to geek out about regulations, design and engineering. Lets start at the front.

The first piece of design that is truly from the 80s is the headlight wiper with washer tabs. Take a look at that beauty! It was an absolute marvel to have during snowy, rainy, and muddy conditions. We no longer have these because modern headlights need to conform to pedestrian safety standards making it impossible to have glass headlights as shown here. We now have plastic headlights, and wipers would end up scratching the plastic making it completely unfeasible.

Also take note that there is a chrome bumper that is exclusive to the US markets as it is stipulated by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 215. This bumper would not be found on the purely German models as these bumpers would not be required by law.

Moving on to the Windshield

Although Etherea has not figured out interior design yet, they have paid close attention to the orientation of the wipers. Note how they move from the right of the vehicle to the left of the vehicle. This was specifically designed to designate that this is a truly left hand drive car. Right hand drive cars always have the wipers moving from the left to right.

Moving on to the back.

Did you know that this particular design of tail light was made so that it would be easier for snow to clear out? This was one of the many innovations that signify just how much attention Germans put into their car safety. Also you may notice that there is a brakelight on the bottom of the bumper. This is related to the regulations governing brake lights on moving articles on the car. As the brake lights are connected to the boot, they will naturally swing up leaving the turn signals on the side. To make sure that there are still active and visible brake lights to conform to regulations, a third brake light was put on a fixed portion of the car.

In regards to the engineering of the vehicle, there isn’t much to say aside from the fact that this is really more of a comfort oriented vehicle (despite it’s brisk acceleration). The inline-6 engine references the inline-6 that would be a part of this car during the era. Of course some of you may know which car this was likely based of off and indeed I tried to match the specs meticulously (even down to the compression ratio used). This vehicle is limited to 239kph electronically which is somewhat un-Germanic as you would expect the traditional 250kph to be the limit. This was done however to run a slightly lower tyre rating to save service costs (although this is a cabrio with an automatic soft-top and a premium interior, so expect to be shelling out $1000+). Its not too unrealistic though as the 250 claim does vary between car to car (like the actual horespower in the 276hp Japanese Gentleman’s agreement in 1988) based on the targets of the manufacturer. The choices that were made would be representative of what a high-end compact cabriolet would have in 1989, although being an Etherea group product there is heavy emphasis on keeping fuel economy at a good number.
