i think the game should implement Desmodromic (aka Springless) Valvetrain that can help “kill” the valve float, but more expensive to implement and increases the vibration of the engine

yeah, you know. they can be found in Ducati Engines, and Mercedes-Benz used them too with their classic racing machine, the W196 and the 300SLR, and can be founded too in Ford Modular V8 4.6L

Engine designer is pretty much on lockdown at this point and complicated enough as it is really. I dont see the need for this as it is just another choice for a regular player to make and learn what it does. If you are a greasemonkey, sure, it will be fun. Maybe it can be modded in later one. As for standard game material, I think this is ‘beyond’ what to expect to be in game.
This technology already is somewhat implemented in the quality slider, the higher the quality, the less valve float. You could say the more techpool you put into a part of the engine, the more small technologies you’ll get next to better build quality.

I understand you guys not wanting to implement desmodromic valves. But I think the engine designer needs some way of making engines that reach higher RPMs.
I worked back and fourth on the engine values and I cannot get my 1litre engine to go past 150hp@~8500rpm when bikes engines get 150@10500rpm without desmodromic valves.
Another thing since I’m here and there is no point in suggesting more things for the engine designer.
There should be a better way of controlling the torque curve.
We should be able to ajust the fuel air ratio by rpm range. Nowadays with ECUs people do that all the time.
Or control the VVL opening RPM.
I understand not wanting to make the game to complicated but when it is already at this stage I think that the facebook crowd is long gone now. The game is getting more into flight simulation grounds.
You basically give the answer yourself. You understand the game doesn’t need to be more complicated. For you and some others this might sound like a real gameplay addition, giving you more options, but 95% of the other players don’t have a clear view on what these things do. It is just too much extra work and adding extra complicated choices (there is already so many choices to make!) which give you very little gameplay value in return. In terms of extra work, we are talking about redoing ALL the engine calculations, extra GUI work, extra 3D modelling work(?) extra programming, making extra tutorial videos to explain people what it does, betatesting, tweaking and polishing… etc. etc.
If you are a gearhead, yeah its cool. But keep in mind that this is a game to be for the masses, and its a CARTYCOON game, not Carbuilding- or Engine Simulator.
A good other example was the gearing setup, so you could set your own levels for the gears. Too much hassle, little fun and gameplay value in return.
I showed the game to a friend a few days ago. He took 10 minutes to figure out how to get rid of the knock, even after being overwhelmed by all the tutorials. Sure variable AR ratio would be very nice, but an experienced hand can influence the torque graph a lot by just tweaking cam profile and timing. Also, an 11k revving engine is entirely possible in automation, I made a 2l V8 which easily achieved an 11k sensible redline with peak power at 10200 rpm. The trick is to use a small bore, 5 valves and some quality in top end, and you’ll be revving away. motorcycle engines rev so high because they got a way smaller bore than car engines do, resulting into lighter valves (Thanks to Daffy for informing me about this)
