DQE - Design, Quality, Emotion

hey guys, i decided to redesign the Kestrel! As before, this is more of the cruiser type of muscle car. That means it has lots of low-end torque thanks to the 7.0L V8 and it will be quite well equipped and tuned to be comfortable, not really for performance.

being designed to be a cruiser does not mean it’s slow. As you can imagine, a 7.0L is not a very weak engine. It makes 585hp and that means it’ll do 328kph!
I might also do an XX version of it. If i do, i’ll post it in the Speed Academy thread!

Greets,
Tom

Welcome to the new premium hatchback, the Weta. As you probably noticed until now, my hatchbacks (only the Dragonfly and Mantis so far), are named after insects, and the Weta is one of the largest insects. Although this car will be basically the same size as Audi A3 and BMW 1 series (the Mantis is one size smaller, like Polo and Mito), the Weta will not really compete with them because it’s going to be luxurious, smooth and powerful. But it’s not going to compete with RS3/M135i either because this is a cruiser, not a sports car.

The price might be around 30.000€, which is between a Golf GTI and an RS3/A45/M135i. So, for your money you get not only lots of LEDs and comfort, you also get one of these:

and thanks to the power of this turbocharged 3.0L I6, the slightly chubby hatchback (1400kg) will get from 0-60 in 5 seconds flat while using only 6.4l per 100km which is also less than a Golf GTI (which can’t keep up with this in so many aspects).

Do you think this would be good value for money? Because i do

Greets,
Tom

I think this would be great value for the money! I also love how there is instant torque, and turbo lag is nearly non-existent. One thing I do not like is the small, single colored LEDs. It makes the whole front fascia feel empty. Otherwise, the car is great.

thanks for the feedback! Do you mean the actual headlight LEDs or the indicator LEDs? Because with the indicators, i couldn’t think of another place to put them because outside of that vent (the one they’re in right now) it would just look weird and can hardly be seen due to the white colour, so the black of the vent makes for a contrast there. I also tried increasing the length of that vent but i didn’t like the outcome so i left it the way it is.
Suggestions are welcome

I mean the actual headlight LEDs. They just do not have a noticeable presence on the car.

Is this better?

Yes, I like those elongated headlights much better!

Regarding the price, there’s unfortunately an update. I just checked the official VW and Audi pages to see what the new GTI and S3 cost and i was shocked. The new GTI costs at least 33.000€ and the S3 costs a whopping 50.000€. So i guess the Weta will be somewhere between that, maybe 40.000€ or so.

Which GTI did you look at? The one I plan to buy is $29,695 (~£17,872.41). In case you’re wondering, it’s this model here: Volkswagen Golf GTI

I was looking at the one with performance package (230hp) because it’s just much more fun than the “normal” one.

Weird. Maybe I passed it up on Volkswagen’s website.

maybe the prices are different here in Austria than they are at your place

That’s also a possibility.

Y’all probably remember the Hawk, right? I decided to facelift it! The problem i was facing with this was: how do i take a car that got so much positive feedback (here and on Facebook) and make it look better? Well, the changes on the front are slight but noticable, whereas the back is entirely new.

Hope you enjoy

You guys may have seen the Mamba on the Speed Academy thread. So here’s its civilized version:

This comes with two available engines: a 1.0 turbocharged I4 with 80hp and only 3.59l/100km of fuel usage, and a 1.4 I4t with 111hp and 4.14l/100km.

Prices will start at around 18.000€ for the 1.0 because the engine ans suspension are really nothing special but the interior is Premium with basic entertainment and advanced safety. And the 1.4 will be around 20.000€.

Greets,
Tom

Hey everyone, its time to officially announce the arrival of the new Mantis!

Crazy as always and wider than ever, there’s more to it than just the optic changes.
You can now have a 1.6L I4t as entry-level engine. It makes 125hp and uses just 3.7l/100km while doing 0-100km/h in 8.7 seconds.
There’s no more 6-cylinder engines because… well, they don’t fit any more since the new patch <.<

Other than the 1.6, there’s one 2.0 block in several different versions.
Eco (turbocharged only for more power and better fuel consumption): 160hp, 4.1l/100km, 7.4s 0-100
Fun NA: 211hp, 6.2l/100km, 6.1s 0-100
Fun T: 234hp, 6.1l/100km, 5.2s 0-100
Sport NA: 250hp, 7.2l/100km, 5.1s 0-100
Sport T: 315hp, 7.3l/100km, 4.5s 0-100

All of them are RWD, feature ESP, stability control, power steering and ABS as well as advanced safety features.

The price for the 1.6l will be probably around 21.000€, making it cheaper, faster, lighter and more economical than the 1.2l 105hp Golf. For the Sport T, the price will be probably around 32.000€, making it 13.000€ cheaper than the new Golf R (and faster as well!)

What do you think about it?

Greets,
Tom

PS: I will post the HP version in the Speed Academy thread as soon as i’m done with all the finetuning on it!

I really love the back end of the Mantis!

Thanks Jak!
Today i want to show all of you the new Weta! It’s kinda sad that since the latest patch, the 3.0 I6T that made this car doesn’t fit any more -.- DEVS, WHY AREN’T WE ALLOWED TO PUT A 3.0 I6 INTO A HATCHBACK LIKE BMW DOES?

Anyway, here’s the design:

But just because the 3.0 is gone, that doesn’t mean it’s going to be worse than before. Yeah, it has a bit less power but you still get a powerful and smooth I6T, now with 2.5L and over-square as hell just to fit in.

Overall, this car is a good all-rounder with emphasis on comfortable cruising and long-distance travelling. It’s not a sports car, but it’s not slow, it actually does 0-100kph in the same time as a BMW E46 M3 (and we all agree that an M3 is not a slow car, right?).

With prices starting around 38.000€, this is 5.000€ more than the Golf GTI with performance package, but it’s certainly worth the price because it will be much more well-equipped, more comfortable, more economical, better looking and faster.

Tom

Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you the new Eagle family, consisting of a coupe and a saloon version. As always, the Eagle is a competitor for the BMW 3 series and 4 series.
The coupe first:

you’re probably wondering why the door handles are in such an unusual position. It’s because only the coupe gets optional reverse-scissor doors. If you know how Lamborghini doors open, then just imagine that mechanism the other way round.

Here’s the saloon:

this doesn’t get optional reverse scissor doors because of technical difficulties with doing that.

Both get premium interior, standard entertainment and advanced safety features. Also, both of them get the same engines and the entry level is this, a 2.5L I6T with great fuel economy:

Last but not least, the stats that the cars make with this engine. Because of difficulties with uploading the screenshots (bad internet connection), i’m going to list them myself.

Coupe:

Tameness: 51
Sportiness: 24.4
Comfort: 39.2
Prestige: 29.4
Safety: 40.4
0-100km/h: 6.54s
4.36l/100km economy

Saloon:

Tameness: 52.1
Sportiness: 22.7
Comfort: 39.7
Prestige: 29.8
Safety: 41.8
0-100km/h: 6.78s
4.55l/100km economy

The price for both will be around 35.000€, about the same as for a comparable BMW 320i but the Eagle makes for better fuel economy, actually about as good as the comparable BMW Diesel!

That was one hell of a post and i’m finally done  Hope you enjoy

Greets,
Tom

Is there anyone who wants a small sports coupe but can’t afford a 30k+ Mazda MX-5 coupe? Then this is perfect for you! It’s the new Buzzard!

The recipe for this car is: get more out of less. The standard version may only have a 1.2L I4T with 120hp but it does 0-100kph in 8.4 seconds and uses just 3.77L/100km. That’s because it only weighs 1150kg. There’s also a 1.4L version with 152hp and it does 0-100 in 6.7 secs (faster than a 2.5L BMW E90 325i) while using 4.4L/100km. So if you have the 18.500€ for the 1.2 or the 20.000€ for the 1.4, you’ll be able to enjoy it for a long time because insurance costs are low and it’s very economical.

Of course, there will also be an HP version and it will be posted in the Speed Academy Thread

Tom
